Hi all, I've just joined up. About a month or so ago I bought myself an ol' XJ900 for $400. I put new tyres on it, changed the plugs and got it registered. It goes like a scalded cat and I noise it makes when she's barking along. A Anyway, I have noticed int he last couple of days that the oil light comes on periodically. Knowing a bit about mechanical stuff I know it to be a warning light as it progressively stays on longer. What I don't know is what to check. I don't have a workshop manual to refer to so that's what brings me hear. What do I check and where? I'm taking the suck eggs approach and would rather learn from someone more experienced in these old girls …

Hi, just joined up a few minutes ago, just thought I would say hello. I have been biking since I was 16 in many forms, road, motocross, enduro, but now mostly it all road touring and weekend ride outs. I have two Ducatis a 900 supersport which I spend the last year restoring and a ST4s I use for touring. I have also picked up a CX500 which I intend to convert to a Cafe Racer, and more importantly the reason for joining this site was I purchased a 1969 Yas1 about a month ago, and I'm hoping to pick some members brains on here about parts etc. Regards Desmoduke

I sat my CBT last Sept bought a YBR and ride it every spare moment I get. I ride past Carbeth to Balloch and back to Duntocher most nights round Arrocher at weekends. The instructor did advise not to buy a 125 as it soon dawns on you,you want a bigger one. Guess what? I am off to bikeit Paisley today to book DAS. Big month ahead with the Motogp at Silverstone then BSB at Knockhill(hope its a bit drier than last year!!)

Hi there folks New Chap on the forum here. I have a DT175MX (1979) project I'm starting soon with a mate (who bought it as a reminder of his misspent youth !). He stripped it down a few years back full of enthusiasm etc. The fork stanchions were then sent away to be re chromed and the guy promptly went out of business and thats the last we ever saw of them ! Other than that it's complete - we think ... - and we now have a lovely refinished frame and swing arm to start hanging some bits off. So I'll be using this rather excellent forum for help and advice if that's ok ? Cheers folks. Dave

Hello One and all. I am a forty three year old biker from Worcestershire. Currently own an XS 250 C that was my spare bike when I had my FJ1200 3CV. FJ went to buy a V8 Landrover. The XS is reasonable condition and is used by me and the wife. Possibly looking to get a Diversion or similar at some point. It's hard work on the old XS. Have worked on bikes for about 25 years on and off, mostly keeping them on the road and chopping a few Honda CB's back in the 80s. So thats me.

hi i have just discovered this site, as am looking at buying a very rough ty50p. my daughter will be 16 before i know it and travels on my guzzi all over the shop, she also has her own gas gas 65. the problem i have with this ty50p is it is quite rare and i cannot see that all the pedal gear is there. is there anyone on this site who knows these little beasts and can send me an exploded diagram or talk me through what i should be looking at. all the pictures i can find show a cover hiding everything and i cannot figure out how it would work anyway. my daughter has fallen in love with this bike and we would like to restore it together. cheers rob
