Hi everybody, just a quick introductory post. Live in Cambridge and have just become the (cough) proud owner of what appears to be the ugliest DT125 mk1 in the world. Actually I think its a DT125 but at the moment most of it is still in boxes (its scary how many of these parts look the same - does this thing really need three cdi's? :-) So we'll no doubt be having fun with this over the next couple of months. I probably haven't got the nerve to ask for too much advice on here because I don't want to be lynched due to having to have things explained very, very slowly and preferably in words of one syllable with diagrams and stick men. (yes I AM a blonde) Anyway, that's a…

Hello I am a new YOC member. I am also a new rider. I just bought an 1985 700 Maxim today. Being new to motorcycles I have no idea which exact 700 model it is. My wife and I thougt it was in our price range, didn't leak, started first try, had a title in hand, and rode, . I thought I would post a Hello to the crowd. I need to spend some time searching for an owners manual. if any one has any links they prefer i would appreciate it. thanks kool-aide

Hey everyone. My name is Jesse. I'm quite excited to have found this website. I currently have two pre 1983 Yamahas and could really use some help with them, so I figured I would join the site and see if I can get some help, and maybe throw my two cents in here and there....I'm more of a body work and paint kind of guy so expect to see me reply on any post pertaining to such a topic.

Just aquired a 1979 Yamaha 1100 XS from my Son In-Law. It is a really nice complete bike that has been well maintained and kept garage. However, it has NOT been ridden for several years. I am just starting to bring it back into normal operation and I'm sure I will need a lot of advise and recommendations as I am new to larger Japanese bikes. I'm not new to motorcycles or hot rods and have several various British, European and American machines. I enjoy communicating with other "gear heads" and like most anything with wheels or headlight(s)! I'm going to start navigating around this site to see what can be learned and look forward to your comments and suggestions…

Hi, I am a late starter I suppose. I passed my bike test on 16 June this year and decided on a nice 250cc dragstar. I've had my bike 4 days now and absolutely love it. My family havn't seen much of me this week, like a kid with a new toy lol. I live near to Birmingham in the West Midlands, England.

Hi to everyone. I just wanted to try and get it right now and start with the intro rather than the problem. I'm a forty something born again biker. I go with the "if the cap fits, wear it" outlook! In my teens I had a Honda 50, a Suzuki GP100 and a Kawasaki AR125 but passed my bike and car test within a few weeks of each other and went straight into cars and missed out on having a proper bike first. I'm now trying to put that bit right. I was advised to start with something nice and steady like an XJ600 which I got for a few hundred quid. It ran for a month and then nothing - but thats for a different section. I'd like to ride this for this summer before g…

Hello everyone! As my user name suggests, I am a bit of a late starter having only recently passed my CBT at the age of 28, never ridden a bike before! Better late than never though eh.. I took a few lessons on a 500cc and failed the MOD1 test a few weeks back so decided to get a 125 and get a bit of experience on two wheels before going back to try again! Anyway, yesterday a nice gentleman delivered my first ever bike for me! A 1997 Yamaha SR125. He had it MOT'd yesterday morning and a new battery put on it. It only has 4418 miles on the clock and seems to me to be in fantastic condition for its age. I've yet to go out for a spin on it though as I can't …

Hey everyone, I joined on here because I finally, FINALLY, got my old bike running good and am going to be looking up a lot of info about these things. (I don't know if this is all correct, please correct me if you see something) 1976? MX175 frame 1976? DT175 engine (supposedly built) 197x? YZ125 ignition system (CDI) 19xx? xx250 front forks Mikuni race carb, cone filter Race pipe (stupid loud lol) My neighbor bought it from a guy that had built it for vintage racing. The second year my neighbor pulled it out of the shed, it wouldn't start and he sold it to me for $100. Since that day, it's been nothing but headaches and cussing haha. It ba…
