Evening all As you probably know I'm hoping to get myself an XVS650a when i turn 17 and have been horribly worried about the insurance seeing as i'm so "young". I had a look around in google for "yamaha bike insurance" and filled out a quote form with accurate details, and got results from £550 to about £3000, was wondering if anyone knows any reasons for this and also if they can recommend anyone cheaper, I've got 1 year's no claims and have held my full UK license for 0years and negative two months SO EXCITED about my new bike. Ok, i was wondering how much harder the full test is than CBT. I dont mean to sound stupid, i realise that it is harder, but i think i probs ride to standard (mirrors checked every 10-15 secs, two pushes of the indicators to make sure they cancel everytime, throwing lifesavers around like they are candy at a parade, plus riding straight and safe and within speed limits) do i stand a chance? I'm itching to get riding a big bike (even if limimted to 33bhp), and my step-dad's got a Thundercat hes willing to GIVE me if i pass. Cheers guys Alex

  8. I was just wondering about this because I'm licensed to ride any motorcycle in the US. Lets say I came to the UK, and wanted to buy or rent a bike to tour the UK, Ireland, and Scottland on. Would I be able to buy/rent any bike over there like I could here in the US and ride it legally using my current US license, or would I be limited legally on my choices? I know with a car license it should be valid to drive any car in any country worldwide, but I don't know if it would be the same for a bike since you have the graduated license system over there.

i passed my theory today and now i got to think about the practical... basicaly now the way i ride is that i only overtake cars in slow trafic on the left side...... but normally in traffic lights e.t.c i always wait behind other cars, as is i was another car...... i was wondering when i go to the practical exam do i have to ride and when appoching trafic lights e.t.c do i over take cars to the front of the queue or do i just wait behind other cars as is i was another car???? any other tips... im gonna be doing the exam on my 52 plate Yamaha DT125R..... and firstly i need to gain more confidence on the road as i used to offroad terrain and no speedlimits...…

Right i know this is prob going to sound a bit nuts and its nothing to do with dewpy, this is serious, true. I was driving along the A47 today past Desford (Licestershire) when i saw what looked like and i was sober, a SR125 that had been EXTENSIVELY modded to take some sort of old V4 pre unit lump, and i mean old like exposed pushrods and such. It was an inline vertical 45degree V layout, also for some reason a hard tail????? with a sprung seat and was toodling along in his own sweet time at about 40mph. It had MRA on the black tank and had C120MRA as the reg, anybody got any ideas, he was heading into Licester with what looked like his work bag on his shoulder…

Get this- my bike was stolen couple of weeks back and found by the police not too far from my home. They took it in to impound for finger print analysis (whatever- if they even do that) and said they would ring when we could pick it up. Phoned last thur but was unable to get it straight away. Got a letter through the post demanding stating we had to pay 420 pounds to get it back. They have charged storage fee since the day they picked it up...I could have picked it up from day 1 in my van and not had to pay a bloody penny.   How do i get my money back?!! Any suggestions welcome (non violent) ...maybe

Greetings Forum, I would like to know if there is a procedure available to remove an existing engine and replace it with a salvaged engine for a 1983 Seca 750. I have owned this bike for close to twenty years and would like to take this project on in the garage for the winter. Any suggestions or links would be appreciated. Regards, Phil
