Right this may sound like a dumb question but here goes as I am a novice. I have a Virago 750 which I recently bought and am still taking lessons for my full licence. I have got the hang of putting the bike on it's main stand but I am having trouble taking it off! Bear in mind that i am only 5'4" tall and weigh in at just under 8 stone! (lightweight biker that's for sure) At the moment i am getting it off the main stand by sitting on it and rocking it forward. I have tried standing to the left side of it to take it off but I am nervous about dropping it onto the right as I seem to be forcing it forward and away from me. I would hate to damage all that chrome so have any o…

I have been offered a Duke 996 from a friend of a friend, and to be honest I know nothing of these bikes except that they are Italian and probably have the worlds worst electrics, it's been left out in this guys back garden where it has become the home for various woodland animals and the odd weed and bush growing through it for the last 3 years. He is going to give this thing to me as it is in a bit of a state, well it would be really as it's out in the heart of the cotswolds and the weather is anything but clement and 3 years of winter and rain have taken a toll on the various bits of plastic and other gubbings attached to it. It was running when he walked away from it …

Hey everyone, Now that the demand for T-shirts has died done somewhat, I remember earlier i put this idea forward sorta jokingly at first, but im actually seeing it as a possibility now and was wondering what your thoughts would be. Basically i was thinking of putting together a YOC calender, it will have to be for 2014 as we are very nearly into 2013 and it would also give us the entire year of 2013 to gather the nescessary input, idea being that the photos and artwork for each month are posted in from our beloved members, formed into a calender and used to decorate your man cave, house, workplace or shed. the prices from vistaprint would be £6 for a wall cal…

Hi guys, just to let you know that we have just implemented a CDN (Content distribution network) for the server. What this essentially does is mirror the static files on the server across other servers all around the world. This means that your computer will connect to the nearest server hopefully giving you a far quicker connection. Let me know how it goes :-)

Hi, I'm planning to visit my son in Wellington, wondering to buy an veteran used XT600 (around NZ$ 4.000 including WOF, on road costs, taxes) to start a journey around the country. It's possibly to do that beeing an overseas visitor? Afterwards I will give the XT to my son as a gift. Thanks a lot!

HELLO !!!! Been away for a while, so here I am again, saying hello. Still got the trusty Tenere, still riding her in lots of rough and dirty place, but alas the TT600RE has a new owner, or at least once the bikes gets to ,,,, New Zealand !!! A couple of weeks ago I picked up another bike to replace the TT600RE, a Triumph Tiger 800xc, and here she is: She's not as good as the Tenere in the twisty narrow lanes of the Lakes, and can't touch the Tenere on dirt, but Mrs GULG will be happier to sit on the back of the Tiger.

Well Christmas is on its way. Whats on your list this year? I normally have something bike related but this year I have only asked for one thing, a nice watch box (I like watches so something that holds a decent number safely). What are you hoping Santa is going to bring?

Hey peeps. the cold nights are drawing in now and with one mini sold and the other one near completion im starting to look at cracking on with my other projects The XJ turbo is coming along nicely, the engine has been welded and requires only shotblasting, painting and a fresh set of fasteners before it can be refitted and the rest of the bike assembled. As for the DT, its a bit of a different story, all the parts are there and it would (hopefully) take a lot less time to strip, clean, paint and reassemble, the part-assembled wiring loom is hung up on the back of my wardrobe door and most of it is back together, but i have already started to think about modificat…

Its something that i said at work and then wondered what everybody else thinks. Having finally broken and put the winter lining in my jacket i accept its cold. Thing is i would far sooner ride in a dry 0 deg c or less, than 10 degrees and rain. What about you lot?

Hi all, I am new to chat room as well to motorcycles. I have a problem hopefully someone can give some guidance on. I was using my cruiser to do the license test and it requires slow movements using clutch and rear brake. All was good at start clutch in good position and working well, but after test I noticed clutch taking right at top end, if that term makes sense, and when accelerating it was slipping. Almost the take point had moved to immediate depression of the clutch handle, even maybe being engaged a bit when handle released. Not sure if there is possibly damage or is all I need to do is make adjustments to cable tension near clutch handle. Any advice would be appr…

Well guys after taking and passing my CBT I have had a couple of lessons on the 500cc machine now and found it easier than I had expected. Being a bit of a lightweight myself (7 1/2 stone wet through) i was a bit worried about man handling the machine but it was surprisingly light and the seat was low enough for me to touch the floor with both feet. I was also a little concerned about how sensitive the throttle would be with being a more powerful machine but needn't have worried as it was pretty docile. The last bikes I rode were British ones back in the seventies which were mostly gutless and I was fearing the worst. Did a few slow manoeuvres and practice stopping and se…
