    Which is safer?

I hate motorways on a bike, only because they are long, straight and boring but if you need to use one then so long as you have the ability and the confidence there is no doubt the R6 would be the safest option. If not keep, the hell away from the motorway! 1. It's braking will be much sharper and stable. 2. It has the power to get you out of trouble should you need it. 3. The fact that it is at least twice the physical size makes you far more visible to other traffic, and you will have a better field of vision on a larger machine. Keep your distance, make frequent mirror checks and ALWAYS use lifesavers! Stay Safe!
  3. I couldn't agree more! As a new rider, you're only just starting to learn how to really ride! There's no substitue for experience, so get as many miles in as you can and in as many different scenarios as possible. Don't try to keep up with faster, more experienced riders unless you can honestly say to yourself that you feel comfortable and are riding WITHIN your own capability! Stay safe and you'll get more smiles per miles

  5. Yammy, you've made my day!! I tried to get tickets 3 weeks ago for the NEC gig in September and was told by ticketmaster that it was sold out  They DIDN'T tell me there was a second date added and i've seen no publicity! I've just booked two tickets, and in decent view I last saw the guys something like 18-20 years ago and you're right enough, the music's cool but they're wicked live! Ahhh, memories.....Barclay James Harvest, Pink Floyd, Yes, Deep Purple.....Better warn the neighbours, I feel a session with my LP's coming on  Thanx for the info mate!
  6. Yep, just open my mouth to adjust the position of my foot!

    bike resrictions

The restricted license for Motorcycles is sometimes viewed by people as archaic or "big brother" telling us what to do, but it has proven to be a good idea - the accident rate for young riders has fallen dramatically. Lets face it, how much road sense or common sense did WE have at 16/17! There has been talk for ages about introducing some-sort of restriction for cars, and personally that day can't come soon enough. How ridiculous is it that a 17 year old can pass their driving test in a one-litre micra, then jump straight behind the wheel and drive a porche, ferrari etc! It could be argued that the cost of insurance would stop them, but many aren't insured at all, and it pushes premiums up for all of us. Make them all do a CBT - it's amazing how much more aware they would become!!
  9. PMSL They're trying to reach and convert a younger audience Still, I spose most 16 year-old scooter kids still watch the TV version of power-rangers, and will be easy to persuade. If we think about it, at 16 they're vain, they've no road experience, no common sense, think only about themselves,......They'll fit in with those P-R's perfectly
  10. She just called me at work. Funny how the female of the species somehow never see things quite how we do!! PMSL A nice, subtle, delicate hint........and she still chewed me head off!! :?
  11. PMSL !! Timing couldn't have been better! My GF was talking the weekend about "going blonde" so I've just done a copy and paste job and e-mailed it to her  Lets hope she gets the hint!

    Bike Parking?

Technically your bike should ALWAYS be parked on the road, unless in a marked bay designated for Motorcycles only. However, the strictness or application of the law differs from area to area, council to council. Some use a little common sense, realising just how vulnerable our pride and joy is to those scum bags out there. Others have never heard of common sense, let alone know what it means and apply the law as often, and as harshly as they can! If you are new to biking, or just to the area, best advice I can think of is be very vigilant, both of the Scum bags that wanna nick your bike, and the other side of the law that just wanna nick You! Ask a passing copper, traffic warden, parking attendant, Flying Pig !! Strange, they're never there when ya need them, just appear as you leave somehow

    Oh no...

He's the only Motorbike hearse operator in the country! People thought it was a massive piss-yake at first, but he's a bone-fide reverend from Leicester who set the business up a while ago now. This is the link: http://www.motorcyclefunerals.com
  17. It's good to hear that you're ok Alex, an experience of a lifetime I should think! I thought the trains were bad when i went to Tunisia but i can imagine your trip being a bloody nightmare! The roads are justt crazy out there, its just survival of the fittest and you need eyes everywhere. Take care and enjoy!!

    Divvy noise

Relax Mark, they all sound the same! Mine was identical. Its quieter when cold because all the parts are cold and the oil's nice n thick. As the engine warms up firstly the oil thins, but more notably the valves become more free as they are set with shims, hence the tapping or ticking noise top-end. Change the oil and filter and you will notice it is a lil quieter for a while, but it will soon pick up again. You'll find the bike will be smoother and last longer with regular oil changes - I always did mine on the 600 every 1500 miles, and the 900 every 2000. The air filter only needs cleaning every service, blow it out with an air line (carefully). I replace mine either when it wont clean up anymore or every 3rd service.

    Check this......

 What a tosser!! Should say £15.00 sureley pmsl
  20. I Couldn't agree more Alex! If it's a low pressure joint such as rocker covers then a diy gasket is usually sufficient, but anything more critical, ie higher pressure, more expensive if it goes wrong, then use original parts only or you'll regret it later!!
  21. Try Bennets, they gave me the best deal on my divvy6 last year and now on the 9. Hastings direct are pretty good as well. Send me a pm with contact details or use msn, i know a fair bit about divvies so will help if i can. I'm out all afternoon today but i'll be around all day Wednesday.

Never mind you'll be able to get a bigger bike before too long!! Only kidding!! Yeah, wet kitchen roll is great, i use furniture polish after which reduces the misting up.
