  1. When my RD stopped a few months ago I was in the middle of nowhere, luckily I had a couple of bottles of flavoured water and a couple of bags of haribos to chomp on. Note to self - get some haribos to put under the seat. Good luck and hope it can be fixed cheaply.
  2. Broke my visor, left me concussed and was spitting pigeon dust for a few days. I would rather go without the reward as pigeon dust is rank!
  3. Ha ha. It is a close call. Don't need the wife though, I already have a great lady. Now if you had swapped the wife for a couple of buttered slices, we could be close to a deal.
  4. There are loads of 2 stroke lovers here. A growing number of us go to the 2 stroke meet at squires in Yorkshire for the forums, unofficial, annual meet. Quite a few of us are also members of the aircooledrdclub forum amongst others. If you look in the ride out section there will be many posts and threads for the annual events. Probably easier to search for "squires" just don't mention t shirts! As for a kidney for a RD, I did sell a project one late last year but a single kidney is never going to fill me up so you need to throw a bag of chips in at least.
  5. Got to say that head butting a pigeon at 40MPG hurts.
  6. There are a few of us around that started in the '60's and '70's. '76 for me. A good few of us still have a classic (or 2) both from the 2 stroke and 4 stroke camps. I still have a couple of RD400's and a project YA-6 from 1965 amongst my current collection. I also have a Suzuki TS 250 and a FZ8n. Great pictures and there is a thread on here somewhere where people have listed their bikes over the years. It makes a good read.
  7. I have never seen those androids for sale at any money!
  8. yellow - goes to the lighting switch black with white stripe - Goes to the coil and changes to solid black. It also goes to the ignition and kill switches. This is the live side of the coil as the other (also black, wire from the LT part of the coil is the earth. green with white strip - Changes colour to white after a connector block and goes to the rectifier. Have a look in the help section for tips on posting images.
  9. That isn't good! Mind you, that's similar to me not riding the TS due to the battery overcharging issue. About 600 miles covered on it in a couple of years. Trying to get it ready for Squires I messed with the harness and dials wiring and think I have mixed the direct light feed in with the battery charge so it is frying the battery. I have a NOS harness and dial loom coming and will sort that out - hopefully. I have a new battery for it somewhere.
  10. ......and to you and from me too...........................errrrrrrr, if that makes sense?
  11. And hello to you too! This section is for people to say hello in, not for issues. I see you have already double posted this so I am locking this thread.
  12. Cheers Paul. Have you sorted the overheating on the DT? Much to many John. Pic's of your old TS would be good. I hope the DT is OK?
  13. Never ridden one but I like them. I have been watching this one at the moment LINKY I am going to try not to bid though!
  14. Sounds like you need to clean and reset the carb to original specifications. It should cure both issues.
  15. One RD400 project sold. The TS is now back as my number one project for 2015 with the YA-6 following. A couple of bits ordered and I need to sort out the overcharging - possible 12v conversion - and get the carb spot on. I have the original engine in bits and I may get a chance to rebuild this (loads of parts already brought for the engine rebuild a year or so ago) so I have bumped this to the top of the projects list. Hope you all had a great Christmas.
  16. Ahh. A little too far to pop 'round and use my ultrasonic cleaner on your carb.
  17. Hi and welcome to the forum.
  18. Sorry, fuel tap. Bike tanks tend to run on gravity so all the bits of grime and stuff goes into the tap. Most have a mesh in them that acts like a filter. The basic rule of bike fault finding - unless you are sure what is wrong - is cheapest and easiest first. If nothing else it eliminates possibles and you know when you changed items. The tank vent being blocked is a classic hence trying to start it with the fuel cap off.
  19. Sounds fuel related. How fresh is the fuel? Have you cleaned out the petcock? Have you tried starting it with the fuel cap open (if the tank vent is blocked bikes can be hard to start)? How old is the air filter? Has the spark plug been changed? Have you tested how tight the HT lead cap is on the coil wire (they tend to be twist in's? Any cracks in the rubber parts between the carb and cylinder or carb and airbox?
  20. Hi and welcome to the forum. When you said "Suzuki 90" was that a TS? If so I had one back in '76.
