  1. Well collected the bike this afternoon, lovely looking little bike. I am sure I will soon settle to it as I have had one a few years ago. Obviously taking it easy for the running in period, have been told max 6000 revs. As I am sure you will appreciate having just replaced my Kawasaki Z1000SX with the baby fazer it is a bit flat for me. The ride position is a lot more upright than the SX but this is one of the reasons I bought it, power wise there is no comparision as the SX was banging out just shy of 140bhp. You may think why did I change, I am 64 and have ostiarthritus so the old knees are shot. I am hoping the fazer being a lot lighter than the SX will keep me riding for a lot more years. I know when you hit the power band on the Yam she will fly so do not get me wrong I am not moaning about the bike, I did love that SX though but had to have a reality check. I am living in Spain now and ride a lot of mountain roads and I know when the Yam is run in I will be up there with the 1000cc bikes and muscle my way round. Will post a few pic's in a day or two. 2. To be honest I am a good nodder, but guys on Harleys fuck them, used to nod at them as well but cannot be arsed now, most are pricks on those pieces of pig iron
  3. Hi All , just saying hello from sunny Spain , I have just bought a new unreg 2010 Fazer 600 S2 , this is my second fazer looking forward to it. Lew

    Nicknames

I have just retired in January after a life in the Merchant Navy nearly 45 years at sea. Moved out to Spain bought a villa with a big garden and growing my own veggies. Do a bit of DIY and when I feel like it throw my leg over my bike and disappear into the mountains for a couple of hours with my camera. I have joined up with a motorcycle group usually ride out Sunday mornings. Do I miss not sailing the seas, can absolutely say not one bit, I can still see the sea so I am happy. Lew

    Getting a new fazer

Aye she will be but if memory serves me right they are still a rocket ship. I am mostly ridding the back roads and mountain roads out here in Spain , live here all the time now, have just retired. The SX is a wonderful machine but I just do not need the 140BHP she bangs out. Also the old knees are shot so need something that is a lot lighter and I can flick around. I am thinking it will extend my time ridding bikes. I loved my last one and only sold it as I wanted a litre bike to go touring around Europe, went to a CBF 1000GT, great bike but was so bloody boring it would send me to sleep. Got the SX new in 2011 put nearly 20,000 miles on her and everytime you started her up just got a big shi-eating grin on my face. A real fun bike but sadly it is getting a bit heavy for me now. I know it will take a wee bit of getting used to but I know I will enjoy my biking again as it is a worry trying to keep the sx upright at inclined junctions etc! Lew
  7. Is this the last new /unreg Fazer 600 S2. The bike is a 2010 model new and unused. I live in Spain and currently ride a Kawasaki Z1000SX. At 64 the bike is getting to heavy for me now, love it to bits but it has to go. Anyway I was in a dealers the other day looking for a suitable replacement. Nothing took my fancy as I really love the Kwacker. I mentioned to the saleslady (yes)lady I once had a 2005 fazer 600 and loved it. she suggested the FZ8 but I have a limited budget so she did a search on the Yamaha Spain website looking at the Diversion class bikes. I was looking over her shoulder and spotted a naked FZ6 with ABS dated 2010. I pointed to it and asked her about it, she phoned Yamaha Spain ? I assume. Yes they have one left, it is a yellow one, no doubt that is why they have one left. Anyway they are bringing it to the dealers on Tuesday/Wednesday for me to have a look at. I have already made up my mind I will buy it as I loved my first 600 so do not know of any reason why I will not like it second time around. It has been discounted but is not cheap 6250.00 but there is nothing out there to compete at that price bare in mind that VAT in Spain is 21% but it is coming with the full 2 year warranty. I have looked at various used bikes but as this will likely be my last bike thought it would be a comfort zone having a new one and the 2 year warranty as well. Am I mad or what.
  8. Try this, car body filler Isopon or the like let it harden off for a day or two and rub it down with very fine wet&dry emery paper. When you have done that get the Brasso out and give it a good polish, Brasso is slightly abrasive so should remove most of the fine scores. Before you apply the body filler ensure the pitted areas are oil free as the filler will not adhere to the forks. To make sure the area is oil/grease free use an electric contact type cleaner. Lew
  9. If someone steals and dies as a result of it is sad that they lost their life due to their actions. But if they are involved in an accident and an innocent is killed it is not a charge of man slaughter they should face it should be MURDER and they do the time. The insurance companies should press for the full measure of the law to be applied if they walk away from the wreck and pay out the owner but seek redress on there claim. Part of the problem in our society today is our justice system is not what it used to be, the sentance dealt out to wrong doers is dictated by the economics of the day. if we could afford to ensure the full sentance is served a lot more criminals would do there time. We should apply the rule three strikes and you are out of society. lew
  10. Hi I am interested in getting feedback on how good the later model TDM's are. Any owners on here not happy with the bike or if you can sing it's praises would be grateful as toying with replacing my CBF Honda with a new TDM . Lew
  11. Hi All not been on for a considerable time, mainly as I flogged me Fazer 600 a while back. I currently ride a Honda CBF1000 GT. Nice bike but feel I want a change. There a few toys I am thinking about getting. If anyone on the Forum has any of the bikes I am thinking about would appreciate some feed back please. One of the reasons I am coming back to a Yamaha is the CBF 1000 seems to have an alternator problem as did the early Blade. I do a good bit of touring and have been down to the South of Frnca a few times. I am looking at Either an FZ1 or the FZ800 I assume it is called the FZ800? Another good candidate is the TM 900, now I know the TM is getting long in the tooth now but I believe it is a good touring bike. Look forward to getting some feed back please either possitive or negative. The Honda is a super bike but I am lossing faith in it and getting stuck in some foreign land with a dead alternator is a worry. Lew
  12. Hi All , Anyone travelling down through France and wanting to meet up at ferry port/ or onroute . I am leaving from Wirral Merseyside about the 18th June going via Dover /Calais ferry route , will be using Seafrance as they discount for bikers if you quote MCI. My route will be avoiding the toll roads and eventual destination will be SW France in Carcasonne, that is if me Tom Tom 2 can guide me there. Lew

  15. You know what I'm sick of this site, I honestly thought one could have sensible topics on here, not some muppets talking crap, how do I get the wheel up, maybe we should have a section for the children. Thankfully not everyone on here is a total idiot. Lew
  16. Hi Good idea from wild and foamy get your mates to get it out there on U.TUBE and make sure your number plate is on full display then the police can call have a chat and get idiots like you of the road. People who behave like that on the public road get the rest of us a bad name. Lew

    NW200 road race

Hi , Just back from the NW200 road races in N Ireland. I have been looking forward to them all year. Gutted about the death of Mark Young as any road race fan would be. Okay the weather was hit and miss and we lost the last two races. Safety first is always paramount but the fannying around and time wasted about should we call it a wet race or a dry race lost so much time and I suspect pressure from elsewhere ruined what should have been a terrific end to the 80th year of running this great event. Let's pray there will be no more fatalities anywhere in the road racing events to come or anywhere else in motor cycle sport , but please organisors would it be possible to put traffic calming measures in place if the weather turns iffy so we could still close out an event and not cut two races from the day. I refer to a no passing rule at say Mathers Cross or 3rd gear only rule if we deem the cross wind speed to be excessive. Let's keep it safe but we can make it sensible. No doubt I will get a few comments back but only trying to come up with a solution to protect competitors and fans alike. Lew :

Sad person, perhaps you should stay in bed all the time incase you have an accident getting up. Lew
  20. I would never try and take anything away from the TT but over in Ireland you see the actual racing for what it is , racing I think the TT is more of a time trial as you are racing to maintain or improve a 10 second gap. There is just nowthing like seeing maybe up to 30 bikes braking from 180mph to 60/70 for leathemstown corner and you can cannot get a feeler gauge between them not for the squemish. It is just such abuzz. I took my wife over in 06 she had never been before and did not look all that impressed when she saw the place , we were at quarterlands. and she says to me so were is the race track.you are standing on it I says. Roads closed a deathly hush the roar of the bikes 2 miles away in a minute 30 bikes thundering past , I'm not sure but she may have wet herself her face was a picture. Took her to Oulton park for BSB she fell asleep after an hour. THere is just nothing like between the hedges and ditches she is hooked. We were at the NW200 08 thankfully we just walked away from Mathers cross when Robert Dunlop was killed and did not see it although we heard it. When the news came through she cried for a day as the wee man was her hero, but she loves the sport. As with the TT no one likes to see people getting hurt I honestly believe that when you get hooked on Road Racing it is an addiction and there IS NO CURE. Come to Ireland for the NW200 and the UGP you will love it or any of the other meetings. I personally prefer the racing at Dundrod but I just love it all. Lew
  21. Anybody remember 07 the 125 race midweek Ian Lougher and Robert Dunlop , Robert won it by a tyre tread and I mean a tyre tread. Then an hour later McGuiness stonked round 130+ on a wet track well 95% was wet he just tram lined the racing line all the way round. Record still stands. I hope we are all members of the UGP supporters club. They need our support, surely we have to have a dry meet this year. If anyone out there has never been it is the best 15 quid (07) prog price you will ever spend and do not forget that is 15 quid for a weeks event. I will be bringing a couple of Welsh lads with me this year. Lew
  22. The biggest problem with Dundrod is actually were it is, If there was a Portrush within a mile they would not be struggling and let's face it the weather this past two years has been killing it. More power to there elbow to the folk who work so hard to get the event ready. It must be heart breaking to put all that effort in just to have the weather spoil it. I certainly would never blame the competitors for calling the meet off as safety is always paramount. Last time I was over for the Ulster was 2007 and that was a wet meet on the Saturday, we had a delayed start and I think we lost the last two races due to standing water on the course, but it was still a great day. I am looking forward to this years event and surely we will get a dry week. Lew

  24. You Boys are making me home sick, I am sitting in a hotel in Shanghai China reading the posts so thought I would join in. Over here on business for a spell. Yer right about the deer's leap, could McGuiness do it do you reckon, I can do it on a super bike, but thats on a PS2 game TT Superstars most times I end up with gravel rash. From Glengormly originally but live in England now. Always try and make it though for the NW200 and the Ulster. I prefer the racing round Dundrod than NW200. Got over for the NW200 last year but the loss of Robert was a tradgedy. What you all riding, got a Honda CBF1000GT now but just sold my Fazer 600 cracking little bike. Stay safe Greetings all Lew
