  1. Hiya I still have my trusty Cat, cracking choice for a 1st big bike Mine's my winter workhorse and touring steed, I love it ....
  2. erm yes, The Dick Turpin ! I know its a popular meet place, but there's an American Diner opening up just along the road from it, only I cant find the flippin forum thread I read it on
  3. Yo Bradley, I just went through your posts to find out what you ride.... excellent choice I'm on a '53 reg R6, gimme a shout if you decide to head off to Finchingfield or fancy a mosey around HG's in Braintree I also know the pub right on the river at maldon (bought my Thundercat there, erm not in the pub ) Has the diner near the Dick Whittington on A127 opened yet ?
  4. I'm in Suffolk so I know north side (of A12) roads better but here's a suggestion or 2. A132 (off A127) through Runwell Right onto B1012, then either:Left B1018 towards Maldon, don't go through Maldon unless you want to stop at the river for a drink, just go up A414 the right at roundabout, left next roundabout head to Heybridge. Right onto B1026 thru Tolleshunt D'Arcy up to Layer de la Haye, left along unclassified to Heckfordbridge, left onto B1022 back thru Tiptree to Great Totham, bear right onto Captain Woods Road, bear left Maypole Road back towards Heybridge, back down A414 but stay on til B1418, go through Bicknacre & Woodham Ferrers back onto A132 or: Go straight ahead o the B1012 it becomes B1010, go all the way to Burnham on Crouch, stop by river for refreshments Do the loop to get back, B1021, B1018 to Cold Norton Right at CN then left onto B1010 to Hazeleigh, left unclassified to Bicknacre, left onto B1418 to Woodham Ferrers and the A132. I don't know what you ride or how far afield you want to go, but if you fancy a longer run From route 1, at Tolleshunt d'Arcy, go left onto B1023 to Tiptree, keep going, under the A12, B1024 to Feering and Coggeshall, keep going north on B1024 to A1124 Left to Earls Colne, through Halstead onto A1017 up to Sible Hedingham. In SH do left right left (your staying on the 'main' road you end up on the Wethersfield Road, follow this all the way to Wethersfield, at junction Right onto B1053 to Finchingfield where you should see plenty of fellow 2 wheelers good pub and cafe on the green Head home down the B1057 to Great Dunmow, B1008 to Little Waltham & onto A130 / A12 / A130 to bypass Chelmsford, back down A130 to Basildon
  5. The current list is available on the DSA website, have a look at this link, it outlines the test. http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/Learn...Test/DG_4022723 Once you book your test you will receive a DVD showing a staged test. The new test is due to start in March so try and get through it before then. Your riding school will also give you the list of questions and give you a mock test before the real thing, so dont worry it will all be fairly familiar by the time you do your practical As for the examiner, he will note and remember virtually every fault so don't take chances, but dont panic you're allowed quite a few (I think 15) minor faults, providing you don't repeat 1 fault too many times as that will constitute a major fault. Other than failure at specific manoevres & lifesavers, most common fault I would say is failing to cancel indicators, this is only a minor providing you do cancel it before the next side road/junction/hazard. You must stop at a 'stop' sign I mean STOP, put foot down, not trickle across junction (that's a fail at Advanced Test level too) and don't cross a solid central white line, including when joining a dual carriageway. At this stage it may sound a bit ominous, but have a few lessons and it will all start to flow. You will know when you're ready for the test. You'll be right mate
  6. REG NO. R600 SEB Frame no JYARJ031000006906 Engine no J502E0008834 BRIGHT YELLOW GOLD IRIDIUM SCREEN VANCE & HINES EXHAUST Stolen in CASTLE DONINGTON area As you can see it's a pretty striking colour scheme and did many a lap around the track so is well known in the area, so guess it will be stripped down by now hence engine and frame numbers. If you see anything offered that looks like numbers have been hidden or an irridium screen that has had stickers removed please let me know and I will contact owner immediately. Daisy was her pride and joy would be great to get her back
  7. ooooo don't look now folks but he's got an online shop *wibble* Lurve the mirrors on the R1
  8. I know what you mean Goff, my short lil legs ache after a while on forward pegs, I end up riding like I'm on a deck chair (well it's a Harley so not much difference I guess ) On the plus side, me little bod fits the R6 perfecto
  9. erm .... would someone else add a reply to this post, looking at the board index all I see is ... Just a thought to myself..Slippery When Wet
  10. Go for it guys! Now's the time to do it before you have upteen responsibilities Camping can be pricey in summertime if you go for 'official campsites' so the YHA is excellent option together with checking out biker friendly pubs with a field out back Once you decided on your destination get on line and make contact with some local riders, you might be able to take in a couple of rallies enroute
  11. Small world Ratsalad ... know that road well, my mum used to live near the Kings Head pub
  12. Coz I live just outside Ippy and wouldn't mind buzzing over to get a sneak peak, and maybe some ideas on my own R6 Have a massive garage and all the gear, lots of toys to fit on but noody to lay with as t'other half hates bikes and spends all his time building hotrods I'm a leppar in my own household
  13. OOO I like the look of that, should fit on an R6 shouldn't it ? Horn on my R6 is pathetic with a capital PA!
  14. He's 17, and I assume his bike will be above the 33bhp limit
  15. Oh and I agree with Goff on the bags and footplates I have a Harley 1200 XLC with forward pegs and after an hour or so I'm looking to hang my feet somewhere. My Sportster is naked with black pipes so I wont put plates on just as a cosmetic choice, but they are comfy. With bag, if you can take the bike with you so you know they will fit nicely, and try and get the best quality you can afford, cheap stiff leather cracks and the stitching may come undone. Might be worth a look at the NEC if you are going (take measurements with you )
  16. Wheels are easy enough to change if you have a bike stand, but personally I wouldn't bother with the extra hasstle and expense, not like you are going to be doing thousands of miles. White walls can be smartened up easy enough (we have yank cars too ) and if you're riding through winter salt you are going to washing the bike regularly anyhow. Just 1 thing about the exhaust, check how you are going to comply with restriction requirements. If you are unfortunate enough to get pulled or have a spill and you dont have certified restriction then you are not going to be insured. Pain 1 is you wont get paid out in the case of any damage, even bigger pain is you could get your license revoked (riding without insurance 6 points straight away and bike impounded) Don't want to be a dark cloud, but my other half's son just had to re-apply for his car license for a similar stupid mistake, he said 'it'll be OK' .... until he got spot checked.
  17. Looking good Fostersice, real good Don't suppose you're anywhere near Ipswich are you
  18. Good advice from Gas Up And carry an extra layer or two with you I find a cotton singlet makes a huge difference under the looser layers and get some thin thermal leggins, you'll notice the chill on your thighs once winter really sets in. It's so easy to forget about temperature change when it's bright and sunny at 10am, then later in the day sun goes down and the mercury drops big time brrrrrr. Cold body = less attentive brain. Don't feel bad about the drop, learning curve is going to be very steep for a while, just put it all down to experience (btw if that had been your dad's bike, you'd have had to enlist help to pick it up ... and just to put things into perspective, imagine your leg underneath a 200kg bike , take it easy bud, 1 step at a time eh ? )
  19. Ayup me duck, glad things are looking up for you
  20. Ahhh, there's another Willenium who has a red and white R1.
  21. One of these parked next to my R6 at the station, it looks just like a mini mine, cracking styles available in a 125cc nowadays.

It's not a test, it's a days training, so enjoy! Wear a decent pair of boots if you have some sturdy high tops/work boots, layers of tops and your thickest pair of jeans. Riding school should provide the rest. Have a great day
  23. I think mine is a Powerbronze, it's secured by 2 colour coded bolts and does not fowl the grab rails. Not great pics, but here's a couple: Busters used to sell them, but don't list them on their webshop any more, give them a call otherwise guess Ebay would be your best bet if this is the way you want to go. I think they look heaps better than the double seat.
  24. Votes cast. IMO this has to be 31st December http://www.imageviper.com/pages/show_album...me=PICT2743.jpg
