This weekend doing fork seals, dust covers and cleaning all the fork internals(yep know there's not a lot inside them), am going to use 15w oil instead of standard 10w oil, normally the forks take 495ml of oil si due to the new oil being a bit thicker I was thinking that I would put about 450ml, does this sound about right or should I go more or less than 450ml ?

What voltage should I expect to go back to my battery? Put a new one in and after hooking it up it worked ok. But when I went to go for a ride the red and black wires to the battery melted. I ran a multi meter on the red wire to the battery and on idle it showed around 5v when i gave it some revs it went up to 11v. Not worked on 6v bikes before so not sure what to expect. Wondering if i just had a defective battery or I cooked it with the bikes current reg/rectifier. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  5. Me again ! Tightened the clutch centre nut and it locks to the outer ! Brilliant ! ( I've bought a pup springs to mind !) I've not sat down and worked out the mechanics of it as there is a shim behind the clutch outer and one between which the Haynes manual agrees with. But, they're both 3mm thick and wonder if the twat I bought it off swopped bits? ( it came with spare engines but clutches removed !) so, any way off checking the correct thickness? I'll scan the web later but I thought I'd just throw it out there and hope, Dave

Hi Guys. New here and new to bikes in general. I currently have a '93 DT175 that needs a little love. I need to replace the battery but am not sure if it's a 6v or 12v system. The battery has all its markings worn off but measures a little under 6V. With the battery removed I get about 7v on the terminals while idling. Because if this I initially assumed it was a 6v system. However, All the bulbs installed are 12v. Only one indicator works and the flasher relay is struggling. The service manual says to use 12v bulbs and a GM3-3B 12v battery. Also if I check a different part manual the battery has part number 1E6-82110-12 which Google…

Hello all, I am new to this forum and dual sport world so I apologize in advance if my questions seem redundant or ignorant. A few weeks ago I purchased a 1986 XT600 in good running order so I could get back out onto the trails that we have here in Colorado. The only issue I have found is that when you shut it down fuel pours out of the primary Carb down onto the crankcase. my assumption is that the float is sticking because if you tap on the side of the carb it stops. The bike sat for 2 years because the person I purchased it from bought a new 650. I just have a few questions hopefully someone can help me with. 1) How difficult is it to rebuild these carb? …

Right got the Mrs a 2007 xt 125r, I'm currently restoring it to its former glory, I'll start with what I've done already, so I picked it up and it has seen better days, seat was ripped, plastics were knackered, chain and sprockets were shocking, the exhaust wasn't even connected and the can has about 60 holes in it, I've recovered the seat in blue and black leather, changed all the plastics for original blue and black, bought some Supermoto wheels and fitted the new rear sprocket (still need to fit them to the bike) got a new can coming and bought a new speedo as the one on the bike was smashed, this is where my issue is, I bought the clocks from eBay where it was adverti…

Hi, I recently purchased a dt125 sm 2005 and I thought I shall rebuild her. Ordered a wossner piston kit, and I came to realise it wouldnt fit, as the old piston is .25 oversize!! So with the old piston being in reasonable condition I put it back together and now I'm back on the bike (it now runs and starts better but it doesn't tick over without the choke on and bogs down before the power band??????) A: does having an oversize piston and barrel to suit = more power? B: would it be better/easier to go back to standard barrel and piston size? Thanks for any help in advance!! Just trying to learn

Hello everyone. I tried looking on dtr125.net but it seems to be closed? I have a 2002 DT125R which is totally standard. It's not done much mileage to be honest so it's not been messed with. i want to derestrict it but didn't really want to change the tail pipe as I feel that just creates more noise. I am going to use it green laning so like it quite to be honest. I have read about a reed switch in the speeo and something about cutting a peice off the carb rubber? basically want I want to get it down to is how can I make a bit more power. Keeping the orginal tail pipe which I think is the best pipe for these bikes. Any help is appreciated.

  15. Hello, I bought Yamaha YZ250F 2017. I have one question. I know that Starter knob/idle screw is for starting a cold bike, but when I put it back on original position and if I turn it clockwise, the motorbike stop running. In manual doesnt write anything about turning the knob, only to pull it out for cold machine and put it in again when is warm. And on knob is written "open" if you turn it anticlockwise. Can someone explain me what turning this button do? Can I have impact maybe on how much air runs into machine or something like that? Thank you and best regards, Matevz

Hello YOC members! I've tried to fix a broken ignition wire on my bike, which was split in half. I took the plastic cover off the cable ends, and stuck them together. Without covering the wire with isolating tape, I started the bike and - stupidly - I turned the handlebar and the naked, cooper wire touched the metal fork which immediately stopped the engine. I thought: fine, the fuse is blown. So I checked the fuse box by the car battery, but all fuses were fine (I've changed them all, just to be safe).I've been told by my friend whom is a bike owner himself, that I should check the starter relay. The problem is, that I cannot locate it - and here's my question: does…

Hi all! I've just bought a 1999 DTR 125 from a mate and took on a mini project at the same time! The bike is very clean and only has 4000 miles on the clock but it's been stood in a garage for about 8 years without being drained of any fluids or inhibited in any way so I have half a tank of rusty fuel and god knows what else to contend with! I'm determined to get her sorted and back on the road though and I'm looking at the next few weeks as a bonding process! Apart from the obvious need to clean out the fuel tank, drain and replace all fluids, replace the spark plug and filters, can anyone think of anything else I'll need to do? I've never worked on a …

i have an 02 dt125r and a work friend of mine has an 07 dt125sm, i was wondering if his rear shock and mine are both the same as his feels a lot firmer when you push the seat up and down, we have looked underneath and the preload/adjustment nuts are virtually in the same position but there is definately a difference as his feels firmer and mine feels as though it has a more smoother through action. both the rear shock springs are red
