Guy n Gals, Bennets have decied to write my bike off, after a small off on a roundabout that billed in at £5.500! I 'm after another 1998-2002 r6 in the early red/white/back scheme. I've checked out ebay etc, got about £3k to spend, live in swindon, wiltshire. Any ideas or bikes for sale? Just got myself a complete custom, race developed stainless exhaust system! 1 year old but never used. I will be fitting it over the weekend. Been after one for ages now. This one fell into my lap yesterday after getting a phone call. Not only will it look better than the standard rusty headers that we have to put up with, it will unleash a few more ponies, plus it only about half the weight! I am going to keep my high rise link pipe and Blue Flame EVO can because I love the look and the sound of it. Bring on the weekend! As an addendum, I got myself some new Boots yesterday. I went for some Alpine Star SMX Plus in black/blue. With the "shoe" insert, they are so comf…

Hi all, Just wanted to say hello and ask a question. For the last 3 years i've owned a Peugeot Vivacity 100cc scooter (it's for sale on Ebay) and use it to get to work on. Anyway i want to take my bike test, but need a geared bike to get a bit of practice and take my test on. I was looking at a Jinlun JL125-11 for the style, but thought i might as well buy a cheap Yamaha SR125 instead. Ive not bought anything yet, but will do in the next week. Can someone please tell me the seat hight on the SR125 ?

  4. Hi all, Without wanting to get bogged down in the argument of tuning a 50cc I'm after two nuggets of information, (1)a guesstimate of the main jet /needle + jet to actually make my bike run at over 1/4- 1/3 throttle and (2)a UK supplier who would have the parts... Basically: DT50M 1980 I have a Mikuni carb supposedly off a DT80, I think it's a Vm18ss -a very rough measurement of the bore suggests it's 18-20mm this is fitted with a yambits big bore kit giving 59-60cc, hytech racing reed, a cone air filter and the restriction to size has been removed from the expansion box to take it to the same diameter as the rear silencer, there was also a crimp put in the rear…

Hi Folks! I cant wait untill next Saturday, i'm getting my restored LC 350 back from the tuning guru Bob Farnham based down here at Brands Hatch. It's quite nice cosmetically but not brilliant & it's going to be ridden not a trailer queen. I bought it off ebay 2 months ago with a few spares. The engine has gone to Bob's for a no expense spared rebuild + tune & set-up i have been down to Hein Gericke & bought all the gear (much better than when i was a teenager) & i'm off to brush-up on my riding skills after an absence of 23 years then i'm going for my first ride-out from Kent down to Devon & Cornwall to re-live my youth. The clocks on the bike are a…

Having probs trying to unstick my r1 clutch. Ive tried getting the engine hot, putting in 3rd gear and rocking with the clutch in,but it refuses to budge. (my fault as its been stored for a year) presume ill have to strip it down, clean the plates and refit. Not being mechanical minded, wondered any problems doing this. Any tips would be gratefully received about doing this job.(how long will it take approx) Cheers howard

Hi, I have a 2003 R1 with a standard can on it, and now I’m looking into getting a nice can fitted. I’m looking for something that looks nice and sounds nice too. The short cans are really what I would love to have, but I’m not sure if they can be fitted to the bike. Which can would you recommend? I have something like this in mind…

Hi Guys, Ok, the bike's nearly ready to go back and get a proper MOT. I've picked up the forks with the new seals and fitted them today and rectified everything on the list bar 2 things.... one is just a bolt, so no worry there. My quandry is the chain...... the guy mentioned that it was too loose and gaps were showing around the rear sprocket. I've had the chain off and lubed it up, put it back on and tensioned it up...... but there are still gaps around the sprocket, though only at the bottom half. How do I remedy this, or what does it mean? Is it a stretched chain? Any help will be greatly appreciated...... Cheers!!! (",)

I've just managed to drop one of the air filter screws on the right hand side of the air filter. It's disappeared into a gap and not come out the bottom of my R1, despite removing all the panelling. PLEASE someone else tell me they've done this too! I've no idea where it's gone, would appreciate anyone suggestions as to how to find it / get it out. Rob

Hi there, My second thread and hopefully quite easy for someone: - how easy is it to change an air filter? I have a 2001 R1 and it looks easy on internet but I have ZERO experience on bikes bar doing an oil change. How long should it take and what the opportunity for me to make a balls up of it? - what are the advantages of specialist air filters vs. standard Yamaha. This may be a really stupid question but I don't know the answer - stock one looks to be around £18 new whereas K&N, which are advertised everywhere, are about £42. Just trying to work out what the benefits are and whether its worth the extra cash. - any recommendations for where I can buy air…
