Hi everyone, i am new to this site. i have a problem with my grizzly and am hoping that someone out there can help me fix it. I bought a 98 600 grizzly back in march and still havent gotten it running right. ive put 1000 bucks into it in parts alone, new clutch, coil, carb kit, etc, etc... the problem i am continuously having is the bike backfires and quits after it has heatened up and been riden for a few minutes.... after waiting a few minutes it will start up and run for a few more minutes before quiting again.... ive redone the carb, flushed out all the lines, changed coils, new battery, and so on. i dont think the cdi is bad, but i am running out of parts to change. …

Can anyone tell me how to get the photos I have taken of my dt engine onto this forum so that I can discuss a gearbox problem. I took the photos and have downloaded them into my document file, but that's as far as I can get. It has to be said that I'm very poor at computer stuff. Any help would be appreciated.

The emulsion tubes on of my carbs are so badlly worn that you can see it with the naked eye. It has been fitted with dynojet needles and these may or may not be worn, so I am replacing the lot with standard main jets and needles. Does anyone know what position the E-clip should be on standard needles? The Haynes manual states that you should note the position of the clip before taking it to bits, which is not very helpful. In case anyone else needs carb spares NRP are so much cheaper than Mr Yamaha. Regards Mark.

This morning, as I trundled along the A13, I had my own little Karl Harris moment. Following a car and van, I saw something in the road, ahead of the van. As it passed over, the object got caught in the back wheel of the van. The car behind swerved to the right and the lump of timber (for that's what it turned out to be) met me at head height. It bounced off my lid just above the visor and continued its aerial journey towards Lakeside. I tell you something; a bit of 4x4 wood banging into your crash helmet whilst you're doing 70 mph (officer), is a highly focussing moment. Fortunately, there was no loss of control (apart from the sudden, brief smell of adrenaline ) a…

Westminster Council have decided to start charging for parking in motorcycle bays... £1.50/day It's in 'trial' for 3 months and so far it hasn't been well-received by bikers for obvious reasons. My gripe is that a residents car parking permit costs £115 for the year, a bike is £150 for the year (limited to motorcycle bays, no discount for residents). How can this be fair? If this might afftect you PLEASE take 2 mins to drop an email to the address below and COMPLAIN (very un-British!) [email protected] I am told the scheme will go ahead unless there is 'significant resistance' from motorcyclists. This will come in the form of complaints so…

I apologize in advance if I wasn't supposed to post this here, I am just not getting any replies in any of the other bike forums I tried. My dad owns a 1974 Yamaha 200 Electric. It hasn't been fired since 1978, and has 3400 original miles on it. It has been stored in his shop since 1981 and everything is original, even the tires and light bulbs. The bike is in perfect condition, except for the dust on it. When it ran in 1978 it ran perfectly, but it was given to him by his dad who didn't ride it any longer. My dad just never felt like learning to ride a motorbike. He is a pack rat, so that is why he still owns the bike. He finally decided that he wants t…

Just fitted my stainless headers. Took a bit of jiggery pokery, and I had to weld a small extension onto my link pipe, but its all on and good. It sounds awesome. Really deep and throaty. Need a dyno run now though to sort things out. Flat spot at 4 it struggles to pull through, spluttering and coughing, then hits another at 8. Once through that, its nowhere near as quick as it was. Lost mid range and top end. I can feel it holding back. So, Dyno run on Mon or Tues and get it sorted. if no, back to standard lol.
