having ridden bikes for more years than i care to remember, you cant help feeling that the experience has lost something as time has passed bye, speed cameras everywhere etc, etc.i have also spent hundreds of hours building/repairing bikes & have craved to do something a bit different for a change, something over the top - and so was born THE COCKROACH !!!!!! as the name suggests,it was never meant to be a thing of beauty, but it is meant to be over the top.basically it started its life as a 2 seater kids/adult 8hp automatic offroad buggy but it has since evolved into 750cc beast.i originally bought it as a clapped out project for £200-ish & have spent a month or so …

Believe it or not, there is some really nice people about. Me and my lad rode down to Poole today (about 65 miles) Fantastic ride down there, fantastic game of football, Poole 1 Chippenham 1. Fantastic ride back to just before Warminster (about 40 miles) Bombing along at 60MPH then entered a 40MPH zone. Then disaster, my son feints on the back of the bike. He's slumped over me with his head resting on my right shoulder, I slowly pull into the side of the road. I'm trying to hold him up and at the same time flag a car down for help. About three cars just go past without stopping, I'm sure they could see whats going on. The only person to stop was a lady on her own …

But its an automatic with a chain drive, I was unaware this type of bike existed, how do you think it works? Some form of centrifugal clutch and variator I guess but how can they fit it within the cases?

Well peeps, the XJ is now sporting a custom made bottom suspension link, non-leaky fork seals and a new back tyre and my finest wiring repairs (no twisted wires and insulation tape here!). it is absolutely beautiful motorcycle weather over here, but alas no doubt when the bike has been MOT'd all the weather will turn crappy and i will be confined to the lumbering 20mpg Kia for the rest of the year

Hi Guy's. I felt some mild rubbing whilst on the way to the gym this morning, i know that the chains runs along a guard on top of the swing arm so just rode as normal. How ever, once i started to get closer to the gym it slowly started getting worse. I finished at the gym and made my way to work, it was now a serious rubbing and only got worse and worse until i got to work. Upon arrival i've noticed some metal filings on the swing arm and it seems the chain is rubbing on the inside of the rotation (so the bottom when the chain is making its way to the back sproket and the top when its making its way to the front sproket. Because of the covers etc i can't see…

Took the dt 175 to quarry to scrub land for a quick do. The danm thing stopped. Its normally ok. I had a new plug, but nothing, just a tantalizing little rev and then nothing. I had to push it back, a steep hill which I had to tack up for a long way. It nearly put my lights out, so I quickly bought a long-overdue trailer. Got one of those that break down in mins to go in the car, can be single or double, very good. Anyway, I gets around to looking at the job. Firstly, sometimes spark then not. So whipped the flywheel off. The points were deep pitted. I trimmed em back to shape with a diamond file, getting then even, but still the same. I soldered on a new condenser. The s…

Hi all, first time poster here, hoping the good people of the owners club can help me with my problem. I bought my first bike 3 weeks ago. Its an '11 YBR 125. The bike has 200 miles on it I have two questions. Sometimes it is really hard to get the bike into neutral. It either skips neutral and jumps to 2nd or says its in neutral (Light comes on) but jerks forward if I release the clutch. Is this something to worry about? If it is a problem, how do I fix it? Will it go away with more miles? My second question is After I turn the bike off, I hear clicking coming from the engine What is it? Much love to anyone that helps and any…

I was thinking the other day what made me like motorbikes. None of my 3 sons are into bikes althought Matt my oldest (27) has just bought a ped to comute on and Al had an Aprilia ped when he was 16. My Dad had bikes because no one his age had cars back then and his dad was the first in his street to have a car. Dad got into bikes ,more than just comuting .he had various bikes an Aerial 350 being one his favorites, his first new bike was a Triumph Tiger 100 which he sold to put a deposite down on his first flat.My Uncle Harry had a Vincent Black Shadow, and dad and his mates Spent all there spare time(when not playing football) racing around the North circular and …

i recently bought a YBR125 and i'm getting more confident at cornering and stuff now, i find myself at full throttle most of the time and when pulling onto the dual carriageway i'm accelerating up to about 9500 rpm in 3rd and 4th to get some speed up. i'm just wondering if this is thrashing the bike a bit hard? most of the time I'm sat in 5th gear doing about 60ish mph (indicated) at about 8000rpm. also the bikes only done 3600 miles, is this past the running in phase or is running in a thing of the past these days? thanks for any advice, being a newbie i'm a bit unsure as to how much i can push it without breaking it! Rob

This maybe a bit of a nooby question but if you don't ask you don't know! Basically as a new rider I'm just about managing to get to grips with everything but one thing I think would make my life a hell of a lot easier is if I could tell what gear I was in... Is there such thing as a gear reader I could buy that shows what gear I'm in?!
