  1. I would also say go for full test. Do you know what bikes they use for each test? Im not sure about parts, but if you search for some online it should be apparent. I'd imagine they won't be hard to get. I buy all mine from the Netherlands. Save a fair bit paying in euros.
  2. Congrats.. Not really sure what it entails as I was always told scouts were the enemy in the ATC... sounds good though.
  3. Hi Bob, Welcome to the YOC

    Hi Des, welcome to YOC. It is good as a new member to head over to new members section and say hi and introduce yourself etc. This 9 digit vin does indicate that you are correct and it is a YB100. It does look like it has been chopped and changed a little so not surprising it looks different. Half the rear fender, brake light and indicators have gone also. (I can't actually see the meter/speedo in the pic, is it one with ignition on the right, speedo on the left and a 3 lights that say 'turn' 'oil' and 'neutral'? - I assume it is possible that it was registered in 1983 but is older model - maybe 80/81) For reference I used this list to find the model number http://www.johnnystoybox.com/yamaha_parts_cross-reference.htm Do you plan on doing some restoration?
  5. I assume you are using a decent enough wrench where possible, and you have mentioned using heat/oil. Not sure what else to suggest. I did have a very hard time getting bolts off of my YBR. In the end i had to drill them out and replace, which is obviously not ideal
  6. Not really number one, but a lot of the other stuff is already on the site mentioned - one thing which has been annoying lately is large vehicles using hazard lights. Busses, coaches etc do this a lot. When they are in a queue it is confusing as I can often only see the right side of the vehicle and assume they are trying to pull out. Using hazard lights on a giant double decker bus seems a bit redundant. If you miss the huge bus, I doubt hazards are going to be of any use, just cause confusion.
  7. Hello and welcome - good luck in your project
  8. Things that come to my mind are faulty battery or air filter. But it could probably be a whole host of things. I would get hold of a service manual and maybe have a look through diagnostic mode to see if you can see if anything is abnormal. - can also check error code history to see if it has had any problems before, which may be useful.
  9. First time I went to Yorkshire, I got off the train and a guy gave me a 4 pack of beer and said he didn't need them anymore.
  10. I have no idea.. but it is good to head over to the new members section before asking a question as lots of people ask a question and then disappear. Also would be good to see pictures (of the bike, not sparkplugs) and welcome to YOC - Sure someone will have some suggestions to help
  11. I have seen bikes around Paris doing this, in the UK you should not use your hazards whilst driving. If someone cannot see a bike filtering I doubt hazards will help them, if anything it will confuse other drivers who may think you are turning if they can only see half the bike. A separate lane for bikes would be great but as the hard shoulder is often covered in gravel and bits of debris probably best not to. (Aside from being totally illegal as Ttaskmaster said.)
  12. Yea I realised in December that the bus lane I used everyday for 6 months had changed, someone had stuck a sticker over the motorcycle symbol... I assume it was an official and not a comedian. Alternatively:
  13. I'll add my two cents - 1) Drivers will suddenly turn with no indication - they assume as they are stuck in traffic and frustrated, no one else is moving - as well as this be wary of pedestrians - I used to live in York and they will walk into traffic whilst filtering. Also cyclists may not be familiar with the 'life saver' check and will weave out in front of you. Case in point - Filmed in York. (Camera is mounted on top of helmet so although you can see the top of her head I don't think he can see her coming) 2) I would say don't ever ride in the gutter. As above you will get squeezed. - Saw this happen to a guy who came off when a van squeezed him against the pavement. 3) I believe if it is a pathway you could get fined - but this is just common sense really. You can park on pavement in front of motorcycle shops for example no problem. 5) A lot of council are allowing motorcycles into bus lanes. You need to check the sign at the entrance;
  14. Well that was confusing - I assumed you meant the old FJ's or an MT-09. Not sure why they can't keep the same names worldwide! For much less I think you get most of the stuff the GS has to offer. And welcome to YOC
  15. Hello, welcome to YOC and welcome back
  16. I just realised maybe the phrase I used does not translate well... OP if you do ever return, it would be good to know how you found your way to this site. It seems like there is one person in the Philippines telling everyone to join the 'Yamaha Owners Club' in order to get a discount. - Unfortunately I don't think this is the right place.
  17. They are just taking the piss, ignore them. Print this out and take it to a dealer. 15% off everything
  18. Do it again whilst wearing it! I have a feeling this is not very scientific (no audio at work - sure it wasn't meant to be anyway! ) That 3rd hit on the 2nd helmet made me cringe, could just see that bar bouncing back and removing his face.
  19. Personally I would pay between £1100/1300 for a 2009 YBR. Not sure what anyone else thinks. I bought a 2010 model for £1500 in 2014 with 6k miles. Which if you had been a bit quicker you could have picked up for a lot less than that! - But anyway if your heart is set on it I am certain they would knock off around £100-200 - which I am sure you will appreciate when it comes to buying gear. There are a bunch of guides on buying used bikes but I would say if it has not been in an accident (Which should be apparent from cosmetic damage/bent handlebars/scratches etc if not declared) that a YBR with 4k on the clock should not really have any issues. (and if it does it should have a warranty as it is not a private sale)
  20. Toot toot 2.8 is shocking
