    First repairs

Wouldn't bend back alloy but steel with bit of heat and inspection, think common sence should come in to it, it depends how bent it is really and how hard to find and how much a new one will cost, I've purchased many a second hand part and not known it's history my bike probably wouldn't still be running if I had to rely on new parts cos they just ain't there anymore. Sune if can't find what your looking for on eBay try www.fowlers.co.uk
  2. I think this years Squires thread is the quietist one since I've been a member, I don't know if its to do with the original thread getting lost or if Peep's are loosing interest, personally I'm looking forward to it and seeing all your ugly mugs again. A few faces missing last year but still a good turn out. if your a new member or been around for a while but haven't yet been its well worth the trip, a chance to put names to faces and share the banter, a really good weekend away with a great bunch.
  3. XS400 1982 was my only transport for first two years still had original cables till last year when I changed the clutch cable due to stretch, turned out it hadn't so now have a spare. I've only ever lubed mine using engine oil once a year using similar method to Slice.

    Cool summer

Hi boys & girls my son has bought me a pair of these for father's day, not arrived yet but looking forward to trying them out after some really hot days last year, Just wondered if anyone else has tried them, I'll get back to update after I've given them a go next week
  11. Sorry I missed it Drew, I took the day off and intended to go but I was just too tired, don't think it would have been a good idea.
  12. Just seen this I am supposedly working but could get out of it, can I let you know tomorrow?
  13. Bit of an early start to be at Squires for 9am Doh just seen don't leave till 11am that's doable are you going Drew?
  14. Was thinking the same thing then had second thoughts, l thought it was part of the anti judder and didn't want to risk it, I couldn't think of another reason for it being there, such a pain to fit, I had to remove the centre clutch housing to fit it back in. Anyway been out for a bimble tonight and its all good.
  15. Splash it all over Harry! Or was that Brute I can't remember must be getting old
  16. I Finally managed to get my clutch sorted tonight, Fowler's sent me the wrong bolts so ended up using the old one's, I also managed to some how kink the retention wire/clip thing that holds in the last plate think its part of the anti judder mech and had to order new one, all done now but it was dark and raining when I finished so haven't done a test ride yet, fingers crossed its all OK, on the plus side I fitted my new seat cover while waiting for parts to arrive, still got to do the carb rubbers I'll have to wait till the weather gets better as the Mrs goes mental with the smell of petrol as my garage is connected to the house.
  17. Sounds like my first girlfriend (small bush)
  18. I prefer a bit of spice myself, baby, posh, sporty or what's the other one oh yes old spice
  19. No Paul he said that it won't turn over now so my guess is he's left the tap on pri overnight & you were right, fuel in the cylinders. Still think his initial problem was just a vacuum pipe though.
  20. If you removed the tank to paint, have you checked vacuum pipe or pipes you may have disconnected it without noticing or you may have split it, motor will start but not hold a tickover and run like a bag of shit. Think Airhead is on the money as to why it won't start now If fuel has filled cylinders, you'll need to do an oil change too
  21. Thanks Jimmy I have registered on the xjr forum, still searching all the threads for info
  22. Thanks Cynic forum cluttered enough without my mess. Thanks slice yeah been looking at the EBC kit on eBay, think that's what I'll go for if no improvement after bleeding.
