  5. Been having abit of an on going problem with the timing chain on the bike, before it wouldn't adjust and making a slapping sound, fitting a new Spring and it approved abit but when adjusting it would go tight then slack again and when riding it quiter but still making a noise.
  6. Sorted just the inlet valve Tappat cover has rounded and can't access the inlet rocker and valves any suggestions.
  7. 13 presses against 8 there a notch in 8 which acts as an a locking type thingy, I will stretch the spring to give more adjustment.
  8. I will have a look tomorrow, just going to change the screw it could of worn down and not hold the adjuster in place and stretch the spring and also valve clearance, just got the proper tool kit through with every thing needed to do that including feeler gauge and rocker adjuster holder, really hand little tool kit. I could be talking rubbish as well but see what happens tomorrow
  9. Got a new adjuster screw and going to stretch the spring abit and see if that helps tomorrow, It's semi auto adjusting meaning I have remove part number 13 and turn the engine over twice then replace the screw and the spring takes the slack up.
  10. My t80 has got a ratterly cam chain I adjusted and then 2 days later it's slack again the engines only 12,400 miles and don't think it needs changing. Some body told the adjuster screw could need replacing and then give the adjuster spring a slight stretch to sort, does this sound right

    yzf r125 58 reg

What dirty dt said is a better way to go if you keep getting dodgy rebuilds its wasting time it will be cheaper to fit that and that engine has covered low miles, An 08 Yzf that has done 21,000 miles in 3 years is good going but just swap the engine and hope you get a better result matey.
  22. At last another t80 owner, I've got a 1992 grey t80 and based in the Nottingham not seen another t80 on the roads yet, they a lot better than the c90 with a better gearbox and shaft drive but less torque up hills put they still pull respectably and better handerling.

    Yamaha t80

In 4 gear around 35 mph and pull the throttle gives you a kick in the back and shots off, going throught the box and will burn cars off the line hitting the red line. She is abit of a riot but good in traffic. The 2 stroke I think was the v90 but managed only 50 mpg where I can squeeze 120 mpg out of £5, it's nice shaft drive but if I had chain and sprockets it would be a lot quicker than a c90 but no adjusting or lubing every week is nice, it's wiered having a bike as old as me but we get on good no matter how much stick I get at college.

    Yamaha t80

Does any body else have a T80 they use on here as they are getting pretty rare 40 left on the road tax and tested, i use mine everyday to get to college and general buzzing around, not bad for a 19 year old bike its done 4,500 miles since August, I have to thrase it abit in 2nd and 3rd but she gets up to 45 nicely. She is abit ratterly at low speeds due to needing valves clearances doing and abit of a whine when hot but she does what she does nicely and glad I got here Instead of a c90 better fuel range and handling and just a good laugh. I heard they do a 2 stroke version but less mpg and not as reliably.

I would take it back to the shop that rebuilt it, if petrol is in the oil it be the piston rings are f#%ked and letting petrol run down the cylinder into the sump, when starting up is there a lot of smoke especially blue smoke which means the piston rings have given up and engine will need rebuilding but advise finding some where better to rebuild, drain the oil and refill and the recheck again after a run to see if there is still petrol in the oil and how much used.
