  1. Most Android Phones work via a dedicated GPS receiver not the GPRS phones system so no cost. The sticker thing is right however, helmets have been supplied with a sticker kit or already fitted for quite a while now isn't there suppose to be 4?
  2. Try Yamaha UK to see if they will give some sort of letter explaining the VIN plate details are correct.
  3. The Nav app is generally installed with the phone from new so no need to buy what phone you got?
  4. Sat Navs have there uses I have had them since the early days of steam and wouldn't be without one but doing it by map is far more fun. My Zumo is getting on now but still gets me there. They have other uses like finding a petrol, food etc also if staying at a B&B in the back of no where you can set it so when you've been out for the day you hit the button it routes you back. I've been all over Europe with and without them and when on a long trip they are well worth it. Car ones sometimes don't have batteries so have to be powered all the time also the Vibration & Rain can kill them. Lastly the smartphone ones are quite good these days
  5. Dont worry all Yamaha's crash into 1st when cold, if your not happy about it put her in gear first then start the bike.
  6. There is a meet a Bassetts Pole Tuesdays Sutton Coldfield. There are also some meets in Wolves area but I havnt any idea where. Also there is: Its small at the moment but getting there.
  7. If you want more acceleration its always better to increase the rear sprocket size, fitting a smaller front sprocket increases the loading on the chain.
  8. The Unrideables should be good.
  9. Not done one of these but, generally there are marks on the cam sprockets also marks at the bottom to line up.
  10. Do you need to strip the motor I thought these were reliable? As for the single disc setup anything is possible but easier if you get the whole front end off an 1100.
  11. Lacing offsets info will not be in any manual. Q: are all the spokes the same length? You could fit the hub back into the swingarm and see how it lines up and try to work it out or find another bike and measure the rim to swingarm and hub to swingarm.
  12. Most newer Yamaha's have a sight glass, do what NSD said but: 1. You also have to run the motor for a minute 2. Then turn off and watch the sight glass fill up after 15 seconds or so. (the time maybe different on this model) 3. Then check what the oil level is at that time not later. This is the usual way of checking Yamaha oil level as they have level not pressure switches. 13. The only motors that can use Super and make more power are one's designed for it or a motor that has a knock sensor with alters the ignition to suit like BMW bikes. Normal/standard motors can use Super but shouldn't make much difference but could run smoother. Saying that I use Super in the RD due to ethanol also I have tried it in my Fjr which is a lean burn motor and it didn't make any difference to the power or economy.

    2 Stroke help.

A lot RD people that use premix are about 30-1. But as long as you have all the parts I would refit the pump for road use as you will get less plug fouling and its fairly easy to fit.
  15. If the bearing are not a direct fit they are the wrong ones for the job, I have never come across a set of Taper Rollers that are thinner than Cup bearings which is why there is no thread left at the top. Some people just fit the bottom one and a standard at the top however there still would be less threads to use. They also effect the steering trail which increases and a twitchy/nervous is not nice.
  16. Here you go. http://www.wemoto.com/bikes/yamaha/xv_250_s_virago/98-00/picture/cam_timing_chain_did/ Why is yours knacked?
  17. Some Yamaha model had a Lock Nut fitted its like a Nyloc nut but without the Nylon bit. I would drill a hole in it and fit the oem nut.
