JMW aka Jackanory Jiro has left the Building! Any tearful farewell messages should be posted in this thread! I'll begin by making an award that is most deserved!

the reason i ask this question is that today a guy in a car almost wiped me out , i was going down the motorway in the inside lane as i was preparing to come off at the next junction when this car in the second lane indicated as he passed me to pull in the inside lane but indicated and pulled across the front of me in one movement forcing me to take avoiding action to say the least as we both came off the motorway together he wound his window down and said he was sorry but as he over took me he looked in his mirror and thought i had flashed him, luckily no harm done but it made me wonder about the use of lights in the day ,i know with more modern bikes the lights come on…

Some f%ckwhit knocked my bike over when i was at my work and the fu%*ers drove off. F&CK%R!!! Arrived at 4pm and at 5pm some woman came in saying that my bike was over!!!! Ran out and my wonderful DT125RE was lying like a corpse. Broken indicators, bent handlebar, scratched fairing and the throttle is sticking like it has cruise control. Disgusting. Just had it polished and fired a can of ACF - 50 for protection for the winter. Called Plod right away and he arrived at 930pm, nea doubt. CCTV all around so they they will check tomorrow, but the twist is Plod says because its not a part of the public highway (because its a car park with no through road i.e it ha…

I have been sitting in the garden drinking John Smiths, having a ciggie and admiring my new roof box I got today and a question popped into my head. This is the background: I am off to France in a few weeks in the car. Having got rid of the Zafira for a smaller car I needed a bit more space to put the stuff. (We filled the Zafira to the brim last year). We go fully loaded so the roof box is there to make up for the smaller boot space. Everyone knows that roof boxes lower fuel consumption and they are streamlined to reduce this (drag). In addition to this, extra weight lowers fuel consumption and the roof box will be full, as well the boot. As I was sipping the beer I n…

You may have noticed that I haven't posted in the last few weeks. Truth is, I've been on hospital. Doing about 30-50 (cant quite remember) down a main road, when a car decided to pull out on me and give me flying lessons. Got rushed off to emergency in an ambulance, broke both tibia and fibula, had to have an operation quick-sticks. Going to be off the bike for a while now, luckily it was work's bike and not mine so don't have to get anythng fixed. If any1 on YOC works on anything to do with law (particularly compensation and insurance law) please contact me. I wont be walking for several weeks now, and wont be on the bike for longer. Please guys, ride safe…

I've never really gave much thought to wearing a Hi-Vis before but things have kinda changed and I've realised that it's not easy for a biker on the road. If people don't see me in daylight, what chance is there at night? So I've decided to wear a Hi-Vis while riding during night time. Do any riders here wear a Hi-Vis and did it make any difference?

Hi, I have not been biking long, motorbiking that is I have had a push bike for a while, but I have already come across a lot of negative reaction to motorbikes. Is this normal and how do people deal with it? For example people will comment quite freely 'oh you've got a motorbike have you? Death trap.' 'Death trap' seems to be a favourite phrase.... Or I hear comments like, 'oh you are on a bike, you will be under a lorry on your way home.' These are not family members or friends, just random people who stop and pass judgement?? It's not like I have asked for their opinion or anything. Bizarre. Totally bizarre. Like f, you. Do I walk past a chip shop and say to s…

  12. Hello all, still pretty new to having a proper motorbike, a wr125x, compared to the mopeds I've had previous! So, I've just used up the last of my chain lube... I'm rather confused as to what brand/type is the best for this horrible English weather! What do you guys use for winter time? I ride everyday about 20 miles or so to work and back everyday so I'm cleaning and lubing up the chain every few days or so! thanks guys!!

Haven't been on in a while guys, was focussing on getting my full licence but kept getting laid off and having to rely on agency work. Anyway three week ago woke up to go to work on a Saturday morning to find my bike gone. Went for a look around and it was in a nearby Snicket on its stand. The scum had bolt cropped 3 chains and a d lock. The saviours were a d lock and a disc lock on each wheel that they couldn't get off. They have HotWired it, snapped steering lock, smashed front indicators and for good measure slashed the front brake pipe. The bike is being stored in a garage and I haven't looked at it properly yet so there may be more damage. I'm going to go check it al…

Out today clutch cable snapped in third gear, I was like WTF. I couldnt slow down as would stall, I couldnt stop to push the bike because I was in gear. So I had to keep the bike running to the garage, went through 5 sets of red lights, 1 set right outside the police station lol What would you have done? Also the garage tightened it 3 days ago, was he the cause? Did he do it too tight? Is this a common thing? Do clutch cables need replacing regularly? Not best pleased.
