Hi yall - this is my first post - my first bike for that matter. I remember all my friends brothers having the old enduros when I was a kid so I went out and got maself one. When I got it it ran enough for me to buy it. I was naive - it had little compression, the muffler wasn't screwed on all the way and the spark was gapped very wrong. Long story short - this week, I did a ring job, head gasket, cylinder gasket, packing gasket, new reed valve assembly, air filter, rebuilt the carb... Gear oil change, exhaust seal. That should be it. I still have little torque and she sounds scratchy at 40+ mph, which isn't far from my peak speed. What gives?!?! These bikes …

Does anyone here know anything about 'Draggin Jeans'? I keep seeing them advertised and they appeal as a kind of compromise between leather jeans and plain denim for the 'nip down to the shop' sort of trip which is where so many people seem to come unstuck. At least with the Kevlar incorporated into the fabric they must offer a higher degree of protection than anything else, not withstanding full on gear, but at about £90 a pair I would like to hear some opinions about them before I shell out. Any info appreciated. Andy

So, I have a set of Joe Rocket textile gear, and i have a problem I like my things to be clean. This suit, after a year of abuse in all elements, is filthy. It wouldnt be so bad if it were black, but it has huge white patches that catch grime and just make it look like i stopped the bike, got off, and rolled around in the dirt. I read the care instructions on the label inside the coat, but it says i cant dry clean, machine wash, soak, etc etc this thing. it doesnt say anything about cleaning it via telepathy, but unfortunately i appear to not have that gift. how do you clean your textile gear? im at my wits end here. heres what it looks like - …

I just purchased a 2007 Yamaha Vstar 1300 Tourer and I was wondering if anyone had any experience or opinions on some of the after market rear lowering kits that are out on the market. I will also be carrying a passenger so I was wondering if anyone needed to replace the rear spring or do anything to compensate for the height adjustment. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Tom

here's an online petition set up by a good guy and OYB bike training owner Alex Pinch, doing the rounds about delaying the launch of the MTC (New Super Test for Bikers) until all centres (across the country) are open. The DSA says they’ll all be open within 12 months, so why can’t they delay until April 09? This will affect the industry at a time when the country is facing a financial crisis. This affects all of us, with some new riders being expected to ride a 3 hour round trip, just to get a licence and that’s not safe. Please pass this on, it deserves our support. Hey all, I have a 2002 R6, it has a Scorpion Exhaust on it. Have been wanting to change it for a while but not sure what too. I quite like a hi-level exhaust. I like the style of the newer models R6's that have nothing between the tyre & seat cowling. Thats where I got the idea of having an hi-level exhaust or if it was possible to put a stubby can on it, however have no idea how to hang it, to mke sure its secure. Anyone got any ideas that will help or even better, some pictures that could jog my mind? All help/options welcome guys n gals Chris

I apologize in advance if this topic has been discussed add nauseum; I tried a search of the forums and came up empty. With extra additives being pumped into our gas, in particular ethanol, are any of you experiencing problems. I have been told by a few Yamaha owners that if the bike sits for a week or two there may be problems starting. It has been suggested to add a little Marvel Mystery Oil to the gas as well as octane booster. From what I've read, there is no need and no benefit to use fuel above an octane level of 87 (US) (PON) if your bike is factory designed for 87 octane, thus why use octane booster. I'm riding a V Star 1300 just purchased two days ago. Do …

ok, threw a drive chain and i think i killed third gear and maybe second. sounds like clacking when i put it into third. but was able to ride home fifty miles just by passing 2 and 3 gear. ok my question for you all is: can you split the cases without having to take apart the cylinders and head? yank the motor flip it and split cases apart just to get at the trans gears... Anyone who actually has a XJ550 1981 know if this is possible.
