Your Driving Licence - Beware IS YOUR DRIVING LICENCE STILL VALID? Unwitting motorists face £1,000 fines as thousands of photo card driving licences expire. Thousands of motorists are at risk of being fined up to £1,000 because they are unwittingly driving without a valid licence. They risk prosecution after failing to spot the extremely small print on their photo card licence which says it automatically expires after 10 years and has to be renewed - even though drivers are licensed to drive until the age of 70. The fiasco has come to light a decade after the first batch of photo licences was issued in July 1998, just as they start to expire. Motoring org…

Hi there, im quite new to biking and this forum. I passed my CBT a few weeks ago looking to insure myself on a 07 YBR, i am still in the process of looking for sensibly priced insurance! Im now thinking of taking my full test but it has just changed. Does anyone know any details of the new test? Ive had a look at the DSA website and its not all that clear, ive heard that the new restriction will be 44bhp for 4 years and that i wont have to take a theory/hazard test as i already have a full car test under my belt. Is any of that true? Any help much appreciated guys. CJ

I was tinkering with my bike today (for the first time ever), and I managed to fix a problem (air filter and box getting filled with oil when the engine is hot, then dumping it all over the road when I stop). I went out for a 60mile round trip, and ... no leak, no smoke..........BLISS That feeling of having managed to fix a problem on your own (with the help of the YOG forum) was f***ing amazing! Considering I'm a complete newbie when it comes to bike mechanics, I was chuffed, almost as much as passing my test with only 1 minor after being certain I'd failed it at the first roundabout! Anyone got other bike-related moments of bliss?

Ahem minor confession for the benefit of others. Took the long way home today. As i finish at 1, sun's out so go find some warm tarmac, well suffice to say i was enjoying myself. I was going fast enough to make the race can seem quiet Went tonking round a loverly 3 figure bend then when the bypass runs out its back to bumpy country stuff but y'know the bloods up. Flick left, then right bike kicking over the bumps. Heading for the roundabout i learn't to knee down on so a personal favorite, grabbed a handfull....... of fcuk all. Pumped em up with a squeeze and got through a bloody site faster than i planned to. Thankfully the roundabout is biiiig an…

Hi all, If anybody has a damaged fork tube/stanchion would you let me know? I am after the 'Shuttle' in the base of it, thats the bit with the plastic ring inside which is secured right at the base of the tube with a rolled lip (it's what the damper rod slides up & down in). I damaged mine when fitting a replacement and desperately need one, the bike has been off the road for over 2 weeks and it's costing me in train fares. If you have one then I only need the bottom few inches of the tube with the unit still inside, I have tried various breakers but all their tubes are straight and usable. The bike is a May '03 FZS600 Fazer, but I'm pretty sure that…

IS it me or have the government just shot them self in the foot yet again??? i notice that they would like people to stop spenidng money on booze from a supermarket and want you to go to the local pub... Well why did in todays bill they just put more tax on booze??? Clearly not clever, and then the car market, we will give you £2000 towards a new car if you scrap your old one, yet we will also put up petrol tax too because we dont feel we are making enough money, yet most of the petrol price is tax anyways...... what do you all think???

I have just finished restoring a 1982 dt50mx, the problem is I can't get no spark, I've changed the Ignition coil, points, condensor & plug, Iv'e had the source coil rewound, carried out various cont checks, still nothing. The inline diode that goes between the coil and stator has also been replaced. Iv'e conected a 24v test light to to check the output from the stator it seems to be producing current but I think its not enough to generate a spark. I've also tried a stator from a friend bike that I know works, still no spark. The ignition switch and the stop switch have been checked for any short circuits, Iv'e even tried with them dissconnected. Iv'e run …

Hey All, I'm not sure if I'm in the right area to post an intro! Anyway, my name is Bazil from sunny Perth, West Oz. I bought my first 84 FJ11 in 97, kept it stock for a couple years & then decided to pull it all apart to do the usual mods to her. Well life & the missus soon got in the way, and it was sittin in the back shed (still in pieces) till last year when I suddenly got a bit of inspiration. Have had a few bikes in between, but as hard as I try I cant get the FJ's outa my system. I got half way thru the rebuild & and suddenly found another FJ11 on the net. This one was a show bike & I couldn't take my eyes off her. Immaculate! Had to have her! …

Hi there, now can anyone reccommend nice fitting girlie leathers???? Im sick of buying off of e-bay, I must have half a dozen sets now!!! and mmmmmm think they have shrunk over the winter?? I'd prefer the nice soft leather as they hard ones are so uncomfortable, so any reccommendations would be grateful. Thanks Fiona
