Hi Everyone, Bought an old SR125 project that had been off the road. Long story short, it's just about having my life 😂 with not starting. It's got good compression, got fuel, got spark (possible issue) and everything else seems good. I have bare bone wired it, to cut out out the sidestand, neutral and relays but no difference. Bike cranks but won't catch, it gets spark but seems strong first fire then not so strong. Battery is good and new so ruled that out. Pick up coils are good. Soooo I keep coming back to the CDI unit but I they are like hen's teeth. Could the CDI be bad but still giving a spark. Anyone used an aftermarket CDI unit?

Evening all. Been reading the forums here for ages, thought I'd actually post for once and see if you guys can help me. I have a YBR125 that I hardly use any more, got bigger shinier bikes now! Would really like to sell it but I lost the V5 ages ago. I have the form to fill in to get the new V5 sent to me, but I have to put the VIN number on the form. I used this website which has a VIN 'decoder' on it for Yamaha's, to double check I had it right and it constantly comes up as an invalid VIN number. Website here: http://www.motoverse.com/tools/vin/yamaha.asp Don't really want to send the form off now, in case I'm getting it wrong somehow! Plus i'm not 100% …

Hi all, I am rebuilding a farmyard-find 1982 Xt125 from the frame up and have decided that it is probably worth converting it to 12v as I will be fitting it with all LED lighting (all original lights/clocks are missing) My question is: Which Regulator/Rectifier should I use? should I just go for a 4 wire generic one? I have gone through what remains of the loom and surprisingly, apart from the switchgear and ignition switch areas it is mostly complete and looks in reasonable condition anybody done similar?

As y'all know, I have a 1998 Thunderace... It's THIS colour: Vivid Red Cocktail But..! There's ANOTHER one!!! VERY close to where I live, I see it sometimes on the way to work! It's even the same colour pattern!!! I don't know who he is or where he lives or how long he's had it, but it's really, REALLY strange seeing 'my' bike on the road! lol There's so few of them left, and this is the only other one I've seen in 'my' colours. I'm getting mine back on the road for the start of the season after riding my V-Strom for the last year. I'll surprise him one morning and drop into convoy..!

Morning all, I’ve just recently bought a 1978 XS1100, I’ve managed to get hold of Macho Maroon paint and am about to start a restoration of the bike, here is my question, is there anyone in or near the Kent area with a similar bike, as I would like to have a look at a couple of things that isn’t showing on the Haynes manual, anybody help?

Good Morning, I ended up with a 1964 Yamaha YA6 which I have gone through. I went to start and it has no spark. I checked the wiring, changed out the regulator, coil and starter/generator/dynamo. It has lights, signals, horn, brake light which all work, but I can't get a spark. When I pulled the bike apart the white wires (armature circuit) was melted, I fixed that. Otherwise I'm stumped, please help! Cheers

  10. Hi everyone On Sunday was out on my 1998 YZF750R when I noticed the rev counter suddenly flick to 7000rpm then drop to show 0 rpm then a few seconds later ping up to 7000rpm again. The actual engine revs and power remained normal and no other issues apparent. On arriving home let the bike cool down, then turned ignition on. With the engine not running, the rev counter started cycling between 7000rpm and then back to 0 then 7000rpm again etc and repeat. Had a look on a online few threads noting that the "7000rpm" is a Yamaha diagnostic indication that points to a problem with the Exup system. So tank & fairings off and had a look. Examined the cable ends at …

The continuous insurance enforcement scheme will provide a new fixed penalty for people who ignore official reminders that their insurance has expired. This will apply to vehicles that are not declared as being off the road through SORN (Statutory Off Road Notification) and not insured. Continuing offenders will risk having their vehicle seized and destroyed. Where a motor vehicle isn't used on a road or other public place, there’s no requirement to purchase insurance cover for 'on road risk' as long as a SORN declaration has been made. The continuous insurance enforcement scheme is expected to come into force during 2011. more information http://www.direct.gov.uk/e…

Hi, I've purchased two damaged bikes off Ebay and have built a bike from their parts, apart from buying a replacement frame from Germany that came complete with the necessary papers. I have checked on the Government website and both the bikes show up with the registration details. What are the procedures for registering the new build which included one of the original engines? I am really against having to have the Dreaded "Q" plate. Can anyone help?

Hi all, Full story of the what happened, I rode for about 2 hours, stopped the bike for a couple of hours, got back on and rode for 20 minutes to a petrol station, it wasn't chugging but it was very low on fuel, I filled right up as I always do, headed off, got about 200m down the road maybe and she cut out, started again on the roll and then cut out as soon as I gave more throttle. Tried to start at the side of the road but no joy, tried bumping multiple times but no joy, a couple of pops but no start of course. Another bike stopped and suggested brimming it could of been the problem so I tried without the cap on, no joy, disconnected the tank and poured out some fu…

I am renovating a '77 DT250MX which was one of just 450 specials supplied to the Danish army. It has uprated front forks and an extended fuel tank as you can see from the picture. I have been able to source most parts that I need but two items are yet to be found, namely a complete exhaust system and the side cover for the airbox which when it is available is at an astronomical price due probably to their scarcity. So I have decided to try and make one. I have the air filter end cover which is held onto the airbox with 3 screws but what I need is a clear picture showing how the outer cover is attached to this inner cover. It looks as if it was with some so…
