my aplogies if there was an issue with the forum at the time. I was out when it hit. We get this all the time and peeps seem to think it fine to multipost thinking they will get more responses
  2. technically, they could prevent you from using the bike there and then. You would have to get it towed away. expensive
  3. can you reset the timing or is it a fixed electronic type?
  4. Gravity sucks! mental, i see they had full brakes on those descents too
  5. 1972 or earlier vehicles can have black and white plates on the road.

just put in new float valves last night. the O ring on the needle body was so loose they fell out. Seems that its not just about the needle seats on these carbs
  8. I would also weld them fixed. some scum stole my shed contents and all they did was prop up the light so it points skywards! good idea about one in the bedroom, although make sure that the cats don't always set it off!
  9. got the touring boots and another pair of Jeans. smaller size this time quite a few bikers in there today.
  10. can you just stick a cork/rubber bung in there temporarily? what about a bike breakers, try and find how many different bikes the part will fit , then ask if they break those bikes
  11. So Sad, condolences to the family and friends he left behind. RIP
  12. prob , just needs a tune and a good thrashing (Italian tune up)

my thoughts too and at only £15 delivered, its worth a punt. did some more rewiring today, trying to use as much of the existing stuff as I can, which is quite a lot might have her running next weekend then I have 3 bikes to choose from

sorted out the dragging clutch, so its much better to ride. I still think it bogs early doors, so I'll try different slow jets
  15. I rode 2 bikes today, first the Gilera ( up and down the gearbox all the time) and it knackered me out so took the tracker out to Rivvington car park Barn for a few hours.and blew away the cobwebs
  16. the carbs on these bikes are really finiky. just leaving them with gas in for longer than a month, causes all sorts of gumming and poor running. you havn't said what itsa like to ride only tick over. the bike needs a good run, not irregular start ups which does no good. do you have an inline fuel filter fitted, is the pet cock free of debris? carb inlets cracked? is it a points model? BTW its not a restored bike, its a modded one
  17. the mag can shear the woodruff and spin on the crank. causing the timing to change

I've found a set on ebay with the same primary resistance (fazer ones) but they have a higher secondary, prob due to the higher compression engine.
  19. I had chips for tea, very nice post an intro mate, lets know a bit about you first

Question; the original coils I have are 2.43 to 2.97 ohms and suit the original ECU the '91 xj engines have 1.8 - 2.2 ohms, anyone think it will fry the ECU? ( it took me 6 months to find one)

put in a 95 mains in today and...spot on sparky is a nice brown colour went for a little ride, its quite loud so turns heads and I have to get used to this changing gear routine too, up and down the box all the time. I think the running jet is a bit too large now, but I'm on WOT all the time anyway! still need to sort out this dragging clutch as its hard to get neutral and you have to rev the engine to stop it stalling.

i went to do a bit more on the FZ today.... ....and I just thought sack it. and changed the engine over so the new engine is in so I just need to put new needles in the carbs (£52 EEK!) and fire her up (hopefully) the new reg/rec arrived from China too, happy days
  23. that sheathing looks like a giant femidom
