  1. I concur! Talking of grease, I was told of a grease to use on my EXUP valve. I was told its mega expensive, but will stand up to the hot gasses in the exhaust system. Do you know what it is? BTW all you yzf750 owners out there, if you find your 6 pot caliper seals have had it, and you dont fancy paying £180 for a new set, each caliper, then buy some R1/6 callipers, offer them up to the mounting holes and you will find they dont fit, then get a grinder, grind out the little fin that is in the way, offer up again, grind a bit more untill they fit. you can pick them up for about £60-£100, much cheaper than new set of seals and much better performance. That'll be my bit on brakes then
  2. Do you know it will fit?
  3. What bike is this off? It looks very much like a Kawasaki, one of the Z family! Is this a Kawasaki forum? I don't think so! Sorry, lol, Am I right, is it off a Kwaka? I'm so sad if I'm right. I saw the first picture and thought "that looks like my Z1100 plunger" I'm so sad... But really I want to know, lol.
  4. How true! If they took the time to read they would find the answer to the Q, there and then, not have to bother signing up (I wouldn't miss them, lol) and they would be on their merry way, not waiting for someone else to do the hard work for them, use your own brain first, it's much more fun, idiots! So the FAQ section, in most cases, wouldn't work for them, nothing will work for them. so the question is, would it be good for the current selection of forum users? I think yes. Lets just pretend that the lazy idiots that frequent all forums don't exist and make this a better place for us that use it..... oh one thing, my bike is broken, how do I fix it? is it the tyres??? (sorry)
  5. If you mean taking the exup exhaust off and fitting an aftermarket set of downpipes, don't bother, just have a read through the forum, you will see why;) if you mean just taking the valve out, you will have the same performance issues, assuming you get it out, but i bet you will have at least one of the bolts holding the plate on, seized. why are you wanting to take it out?
  6. Hi Twisted2004, I've been busy for a bit, but today I "liberated" a relay from my old FT500 (it's a Honda, shhhh). It's a 12V but only has two connections. It's yours if you want it, just PM me with your address and I'll sent it over, work can pay the postage! lol
  7. that looks like a indicator relay. it sould, when the indicators are tuned on, make a clicking sound. yours looks like someone has had a go at fixing it. they can be opened up and fixed.... ive got a load of old parts in my shed, i will have a look and see if i have a spare you can have.
  8. this is madness! lets say I buy a 2004 R1 with the intention of building a special. In the plans for said special, the indicators would not feature. Would I then, after spending thousands, not be able to ride it on the road because the original bike was fitted with indicators? I don't believe you Mr MOT man. I would mot the bike anywhere, just see what happens. If it fails on anything, it will be written on the "tick sheet" if it says something like: Working Indicators (if fitted) ? Yes/No and he fails the bike, even when they are not fitted, have it out with him. There is no way they can stop you customising your bike anyway you see fit.
  9. where do you guys live, ive never heard of so much trouble with mot's, ill give you the address of my guy if hes not too far away from you.
  10. i wouldnt take my bike to a main dealer for any work whatsoever-everever. If you have an old ticksheet all the tests are on there. You could run through them yourself. If a friendly local mot shop says the same, i cant see why they would, my Z11 passed with switch and -4 indicators, then take the switch off.
  11. thats why we are here we all need help at sometime.... i might do a post on my electrical problems keep us posted
  12. I would think it would need to idle to check there arent any holes in the exhaust. you could just ring an mot centre and ask them, worth a try.
  13. The law states that if indicators are fitted they must be in fully working order. So yes it would pass an MOT, ive done it on my Z1100 where the electrics were fucked, at one point I had the brake light flashing with the rear right indicator but not the front. I really wanted the indicators on that bike as they were self cancelling (how cool!), but alas it was not meant to be, so I removed them and it passed an mot. It wasn't luck or a generous mot tester, its law:) The relay is on many bikes a ally cylinder with two or three prongs. If you have a wiring diagram for your bike it would be easy to tell, and if not, might even be possible to modify. I would guess one of the prongs is for earth, but don't quote me on that, remember, I am not even an electrical novice, never mind expert.
  14. If you dont get your indicators working, take them off. the law states if indicators are fitted they must work. so if they are not fitted they cant be faulty. just in case.......
  15. I was talking to a guy in the pub, a while ago now but, he was doing some engine work in his front room. He was working on the bottom end and wanted it upsidedown, fair enough. But when he tried to balance it on the cylinder head bolts it wobbled around, no good. So he balanced it upsidedown, marked out where the bolts were and drilled holes in the table and slotted it home. BINGO! What a guy!
  16. I'm going to print this off and show my girlfriend and say: "see all that shit I have piled up in the corner of the kitchen could actually save us money!" or maybe I'll save a kick in the balls for another day. I once had a Kwaka Z1100 frame (up against the back door), tank (on top of the fridge) and engine on a skateboard (so it could be moved from in front of the sink washing machine when required). She got quite good at moving the engine just before I put it all back together. I bet she misses that......
  17. the last guy nearly gets his knee down!
  18. MAdness! What if you were to come off at any speed?! You wouldn't slow down for a mile or two! And one guy is wearing leathers! How cold!! Good lads
  19. Great looker M8! Did you do the paint job yourself? Either way it looks great 8)
  20. YZF1000r engine? Do you mean an R1 engine, or a big bore kit for my 750? did you buy a cheap smoker or are you just greedy  ????
  21. I have been looking at a 1000 upgrade to my YZF 750 for a while now. (The only thing stopping me is not having another bike to ride while it's off the road having a 1000cc injection!) My question is to those who have done this upgrade. What is the best FZR model to go with? Is one good for the engine and another good for the electrics? etc etc... Thanks guys, John.
  22. I would say you got about $60 worth of use out of it!

    YZF750SP

Maz has it spot on. you have funky carbs, close ratio box, ohlins rear and possibly front and single seat unit.
  24. if you do a Google for motorcycle breakers or the like, you will come accross a free site like partfinder. Just submit your details, part needed, telephone number etc etc, and hope for a call. It's free, so you can't loose
