  1. Hey and welcome to the forum! Good luck with your bobber project - share pictures!
  2. My god Airhead, it was just brilliant - I love it! It's so much more fun than driving, a lot more engaging. It certainly wasn't an easy ride due to the weather, especially the fog on the Buxton to Leek road, but it's making me look forward to decent weather again. There'll be no stopping me then! As for the bike - it's exceeded my expectations by far. It's such a runner, only me holding it back! I'd recommend one of them to anyone.
  3. So I finally have a worthy adventure to share! I have wracked up over 220 miles today on my YBR. Left my house bright and early for a ridiculously foggy ride over to Buxton and down to Leek. The weather then cleared up a little while I made my way to Worcester to visit some family. Mid afternoon I jumped back on my bike and set about heading to my parents house down in Surrey. Managed to get to Oxford before it turned dark and the remainder of my trip was spent relying on the cars ahead of me as I travelled down roads without any streetlights (the joys of shoddy YBR headlights!). It was great fun navigating roads which I wouldn't normally take in my car. The bike did a great (and cheap) job, and didn't even moan about the luggage I chucked on her. In fact, other than a little less space for me (tail pack, tank bag and backpack), the bike still felt the same. It rained the whole way from Worcester to my parents, which obviously made the commute a little less fun, but it didn't cause me any problems. And I have to just say, the Oxford roll top luggage I bought was brilliant - very versatile, and my contents were bone dry at the end of it, unlike my tank bag which began to suffer slightly. So, I'm going to be working in London now for the next few days before jumping back on my steed for the ride home. I can't wait!
  4. A bit a old carpet or floor mat will do the trick too, that's what my ex used to use.
  5. I'm with Grover on this one. I have Pilot Sporty's fitted, feel much better on them.
  6. Hey and welcome to the forum. That's a fantastic resto job, you should be proud!
  7. Hey and welcome to the forum!
  8. 4 minute drive is a long walk with a bike and gear though, ha ha! I was over Sheffield way, so no chance in hell of me pushing my bike over Snake Pass. Well if you do ever need to use your RAC (let's hope not), it was as easy as pie. I keep my RAC card with me now whenever I go out on the bike.
  9. Hey Rosa - welcome to the forum. Looking forward to seeing pictures!
  10. Sounds like you had a blast Grover... Poor you! I've had a puncture which was a pain. Flat in seconds on a main road like you. Managed to pull over ok - but it was peeing down with rain. I had all my waterproofs on, but still didn't help matters! Luckily I have RAC cover (new bike), so they managed to plug it and I was on my way again within an hour so it could have been worse. If only I was in my car... A roof over your head and a spare. Typical!

Glorious weather today, so I've cleaned my bike and put some of this on, which has instantly made me feel better about winter. My bike is looking shiiiiiny! Off out to play shortly. ;-)
  12. I'd recommend reviewing your insurance policy docs - I know sometimes they try to sell extras that aren't always needed, because it isn't like they get enough money out of us... In fact I get this most of the time when ringing my insurance companies for the car or bike! It could be that you're covered up to a certain amount, and that the extra they are trying to flog you is for those really bad accidents that you just don't want to think about... If it turns out that you aren't covered for personal injury (despite being fully comp) then it may be a good idea to look elsewhere? Alternatively, if you have personal injury cover elsewhere (perhaps with your bank), then it's definitely nothing to worry about, just as long as the policy docs state you'd be covered in a road accident.
  13. Welome! Bet you can't wait to get back up and running, good luck!
  14. Hey and welcome to the forum!
  15. Hey Kizz and welcome to the forum. Hope you managed to jump on Dave and get out today, you'll soon get used to it!
  16. Hey Mark, and welcome! Fantastic looking example, enjoy!
