Michelin to Recall Pilot Power 2CT and Pilot Power 120/70 ZR 17 Front Motorcycle Tyres 15/06/07 (STOKE-ON-TRENT – 15 June 2007) – Michelin has launched a campaign to recall its Pilot Power 2CT and Pilot Power 120/70 ZR 17 front motorcycle tyres with “Made in France” markings. An examination of these tyres showed a possible defect in the tread due to a manufacturing irregularity. No cases of pressure loss have been reported and no accidents have occurred. Because customer safety is its primary concern, Michelin has decided as a precaution to replace certain 120/70 ZR 17 Michelin Pilot Power 2CT and Michelin Pilot Power front tyres, which can be identified by the following markings on the sidewall: a “Made in France” label DOT 6UCW 980T or DOT 6UCW 979T These tyres will no longer be sold by dealers.   3. YES they are, the 2CT stands for 2 compound technology, they are softer on the shoulders and slightly harder in the middle to stop the squaring off.
  4. I got about 3k out of mine, but that includes a track day as well. The double compound does make a diff, you wont go wrong with these............. If you can try and keep the matching set on (again personal preference) Hope you get sorted mate, let us know what ya think Steve

    Import R1

    Not really much you need to look out for, the main thing would to try and find out as much history from new as you can, use the number plate and contact dvla, to find out when it was registered, and where it was imported from, and get a HPI on it just to check. One good thing though, is that some of the american imports have different coulour schemes to ours and look trick as feck. Saw an imported 2003 R6, was raven black with Red Flames................. awesome
  6. i had dunlops 207rr and 208rr's on my old ducati, crashed twice, never felt confident pushing the bike with these on. Then I put the Michelin Pilot Powers 2ct on the R1 last season, awesome tyre, great grip, excellent turn in, and well stable on lean, not great mileage and a bit on the expensive side, but its the only thing connecting the bike to the road, so well worth the money, keeping the black sticky side down .!!!!!!!! Now ive got Michelin Pilot Races on it now, cant rave about these enough, better than the Powers, you can feel everthing on the road, put a 180 on the back, now the thing can turn on a penny...........wicked Its pretty much all down to personal preference though, thats my 2p's worth anyway..... lol Steve

    Steering damper

    DEFINITELY.......... personally i wouldnt ride an R1 hard without 1. Ive got a side mounted Ohlins damper on mine (they are supposed to be on the Yoke Ducati style), but better mounted to the frame and fork leg, due to less moving parts. And Yanto, they are a peice of piss to fit, and you dont need to touch the suspension. When you fit the damper (after following instructions carefully) you can set the damper up yourself. They usually have a dial or knob, that adjusts the stiffness of the damper, the harder its set, the more stable it is when your riding hard, but harder to steer at slow speeds, so its just a case of finding the inbetween that your comfortable with.   13. Hi, No definately normal,it should only read LO when you first start it and is below proper operating temp. I would check your radiator cap (as mentioned), header tank, and maybe temperature sensor. Are you losing any water??
  14. QB Carbon is prob the best place, get everything from heel guards to full fairing and tanks. Not sure of the site, but try googling it. Tho most placesyou should be able to get bits of carbon Hope that helps

    Nice one!!! I got an R1 with 40k on the clock, tho its had new wheels, swingarm, fairing, forks, shock, engine.......... so doubt theres anything on the bike done that much...... lmao. Lets See whos got the highest mileage motor.!!!!

    The only things i can see getting damaged is the bottom of the fairing, and maybe the shock, due to it being compressed.

    I would say its been lowered just for aesthetic value, personally i would take it back to stock, as when its been lowered the handling would be proper lazy, not as nimble as an R6 should be. Has the front also been lowered??

You could always try good old ebay, or when i smashed up my old ducati, i got some parts from a company called Blacks Motorcycle, they specialise in breakers and salvage bikes, and do mail order, this is the number i have for them 01704 897551, not sure if it will work, but worth a shot. Yes, you will gain quicker acceleration, mines 1 down on front and 3 up on back (goes like feck), and im running a 520 chain, the only diff over a 530, is gyroscpoic force, as its a thinner and lighter chain, it takes less power to turn it, not sure if you will notice a big difference, also you have to change boh sprockets and chain, so might be worth it if your changing all of yours soon. hope that helps
