  1. Bugger! Not you again, they told us we'd all be safe hiding here! Living around Park Royal I'm not suprised you have an appreciation of 2 wheeled motor vehicles.......even the cars around there rarely have any more than 2 wheels if they're left for more than a couple of minutes I was at the Ace last Sunday, I'd never been there before, but now I have, and I can honestly say that I have no need to go there again. Welcome to the forum, but try not to waffle so much!
  2. Errr.......no they won't, or at least the bottom silencer (the one that goes to the front cylinder) won't. This is why when you buy a set of Highway Hawk Fat pipes or Jardine slip on's you get supplied with a slip on can for the front cylinder and a full pipe for the rear cylinder. sounds complicated, but look at this...... This is the back of a standard set of pipes.... Closer inspection shows the clamp locations.... You can see that the silencer for the rear cylinder can be removed easily, but the silencer for the front cylinder is removed as part of the rear pipe as it is joined by the link pipe. If it were as simple as removing the end cans and clamping on some extra tubing we'd have all saved ourselves a lot of cash.......but it ain't.
  3. I took photos of my exhausts, but not the baffles....... Here are the exhausts and here are the baffles which were supplied with my pipes http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DB-KILLER-universali-MARMITTA-exhaust-pot-auspuff-/230490165693?pt=Ricambi_e_Accessori_Moto&hash=item35aa48d1bd The full set can be found here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Yamaha-DRAGSTAR-V-STAR-XVS650-XVS-650-exhaust-MARMITTA-/230490166500?pt=Ricambi_e_Accessori_Moto&hash=item35aa48d4e4 Peter, think long and hard before cutting your original pipes as they are very expensive to replace if you ever need to. Better to buy a set of noisey pipes and hang the originals in the garage, just in case.
  4. I'm really sorry to have to say this but I think it looks a bloody mess. Of course that's just my opinion, as long as you're happy with it, but I wouldn't expect to see it between the covers of BSH. As for value, personally I wouldn't give it room in the garage, so it's a £0.00 from me, but for insurance, value it as low as possible (if they'll accept £1.00 go with that) because you'll not get anywhere near a decent payment if its damaged, although if its nicked and never seen again you might do alright.......in fact I'll add a £10 to the fund if it is
  5. Aha! You're not far from me then. I enquired about that bike before I bought the 650 I have now. The bloke said he would get it brought up from their Yeovil barn to their Bridgwater site for me to veiw, but when I turned up it wasn't there.......prick of a salesman.......no sale. Rusty boards.......not the look I was going for, but thanks anyway. You still got the 125? as I recall the pegs are the same on the 125 as they are on the 650.......125 with rusty boards anyone??
  6. Are the boards in good nick? 'Cause if they are, I have a set of front and rear pegs (Front one's have some chamfering on the underside) which I might be persueded to swap for boards. Let me know.
  7. Ahem...... I wasn't going to get involved in this thread as performance is not a word I'd associate with XV/XVS125's, but he following statement astonished me enough to get off the bench and into the game...... Nitromethane is not 'Just a higher octane fuel mix'! It is a race fuel, commonly used in Top Fuel Drag racing to propel cars to 300+ MPH in 4 -5 seconds over a measued quarter mile. Think about that.... Standing still, to 300+mph in 4 to 5 seconds, and 0 to 100mph in under 1 second! Watch this Nitromethane produces 10 times the power of regular petrol based race fuel, but is highly corrosive and when burning nitromethane the cars exhausts emit Nitric acid, so driver and crew are required to wear breathing equipment when in close proximity to the engine. This fuel is so corrosive that the engines are stripped and rebuilt every quarter mile pass and they estimate £600 of nitromethane is burnt on every quarter mile pass. They start the car on normal race fuel then on the line the driver switches to Nitromethane, you can hear the engine note change when he does it, it goes from snarling beast to pure evil! They also use it in bikes......how about 197mph in 6.9 seconds If you've never experienced Top fuel drag racing, get yourself to Santa pod when the fuellers are running. You'l not be able to hear yourself think, the ground will shake and you'll not believe what you see! Just a higher octane fuel mix......that really doesn't do it justice.
  8. I use one of these, and the bike's still on the drive so it must work. http://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/28660 As for the neighbour...... http://www.the-armory.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/product1407.html might help You have my sympathies but shared access is never a good idea!
  9. Ringy ding ding ding!
  10. Welcome, did you know your username is an anagram of Ban Sperm Info? Funny old world ain't it!
  11. Now, don't say I never do anything for you!
  12. 3 speedo's! Hey I'd never thought of that! If I fitted 3 and they all read 60mph, I'd be doing 180mph! Cool!
  13. Hello and welcome Jack (with a name like that you really ought to have applied for the Navy ) You're next big outlay of cash really needs to be on security, if you don't want those Chavs to show you what an empty garage looks like! As the Army says, Buy the Best! or is that Be the best???? no surely not, it's the Army after all!

    First Bike

My first bike was one of these (not the one in the picture, mine was a lot more battered, but it was ace!) Then it was a Honda CM125, then a Suzuki X7 then various GS's, GSX's and Triumphs and....oh I wish I'd kept 'em all!
  15. The reason I have the 650 is purely financial. I sold my 900 diversion and added just under a grand to it and still could only afford a 650. What I really want is a Harley Heritage Softail, either the slightly limp wristed 1450cc or preferably the Irn Brew swigging 1586cc but the 7 - 10K price tag has thus far kept me out of the game. The 650 is, I'll quite freely admit, a bit of a girls bike, and had I ridden it before I bought it I would have thought twice due to it's lack of get up and go, but it looks great. As I said in an earlier post, you pay's yur money and takes yur choice, but the 125 route??? Thar be monsters! Arrgh Capt'n.
  16. Cruise at 100mph and have more poke for overtaking.......on a 500cc cruiser? I'd like to see the evidence you're basing those assumptions on as I think you're being more than a little optomistic. Most reviews I have read on this bike offer tops speeds of around 90mph and a cruise all day speed of about 80mph, about what I'd expect from 44bhp. The EN500 Vulcan has 46bhp and is estimated to have around the same abilities (speed wise) as the 535. Want to cruise at 100mph, you got to go larger cubic capacity, as they say, there ain't no replacement for displacement.
  17. How about You! Welcome, nice bike........pictures please!
  18. You pays your money, you takes your choice then. Personally, I'd have the shaft drive everytime, and (I'm guessing here) I would imagine that there are many more 535's to choose from as aposed to the VN.
  19. No, it's not right. The XV535 Virago is a comparable size to the EN500 take a look....... XV535 Virago Wheelbase = 1520mm Seat height = 700mm Weight = 188kg En500 Vulcan Wheelbase = 1595mm Seat height = 690mm Weight = 198kg The 535 Virago is short and tall whereas the Dragstar is low and long, the XV535 is not as good looking as the XV1100 in my humble opinion, but it's seems to be a good all round bike of which there are many and it's very good value for money. These look like beautys... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Yamaha-XV535-Virago-/110686652540?pt=UK_Motorcycles&hash=item19c570487c http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/YAMAHA-VIRAGO-XV-535-RED-/190533706882?pt=UK_Motorcycles&hash=item2c5cb1a482 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/yamaha-XV535-Virago-/120725133386?pt=UK_Motorcycles&hash=item1c1bc7584a

    TOOLBOX?

You'll find the toolbox on the far left hand side of the garage, under that bench with the dead XS motor balanced precariously on top, oh and the socket set is shoved under all the crap at the back, but the 10mm socket is missing. If you need anything else, give us a shout, I'm out the back washing the ferrets. Cup o tea dear?
  22. Hail Emma 15! Ow bist me luver!
  23. Don't go listening to these doom mongering faggots! Get yourself on to a DAS course, pass the tests (you'll have to book your own theory test it costs £31.00) and get yourself a real bike. Insurance is slightly more expensive, but if saving money is that paramount, get the bus! 125cc learner legal machines are for children, girls and guys who like guys. (That ought to stir the pot a little!)
  24. "It's 3696.3 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. Hit it!" Welcome to all ye who hail from the windy city "may the good lord take a liking to you...but not too soon!" (Oh sorry, wrong film)
