  1. Hiya Dave, welcome to the forum, there's a few lads in here own a Virago, and will be more than willing to give you any help or advice needed.
  2. Belt stretched? clutch shoes need deglazing? new clutch springs? Did different rollers come with aftermarket exhaust?
  3. I was going to make a crack about jeans, boots and a well padded bike jacket being the proper gear you should be in, but I won't Seriously though a couple of weeks of riding your bike, it'll become second nature to you, as to which gear you're in, plus you can use the money you've saved and spend it on something more needy for your bike.
  4. Hi and welcome to the nuthouse Karleigh, nice practical bike I see, even got a nice rack at the back for your handbag
  5. Maybe you'd be interested in one of these bad boys?
  6. Pat, with all that rain you're getting,I'd be more inclined to be looking for an Ark mate
  7. Needed to bleed the brakes again today, and seeing as how theres a few people have problems when they come to bleed theirs, I thought I'd put a couple of pics up of my syringe gizmo, that I use, much much easier, less messy, and a darn sight quicker. You'll need a large syringe(60ml) and some 5mm I.D transparent tubing,(about 6") Make sure the tubing is sealed onto the end of the syringe, as this insulating tape seal forms a vaccum, when pumping the brake lever.
  8. I'd say about the same odds as his DT doing 100mph
  9. Aye she's a beauty Andy, you had to do much to it? or is that how it came?
  10. I'd reccomend telling them their leathers seem a little tighter fit than the previous outing, it'll keep her quiet for hours trust me
  11. Hi Stone, and welcome to the forum, one thing I will suggest, with you being a newbie to bikes, is a workshop manual, this will be a big help with getting to know your bike, and will save you a fair whack with servicing bills. Enjoy your new bike, and ride safe.

  15. Foooooooooooooooooooookin 'ell
  16. Nah Merv, 62 mph, thats the sort of speed you'd be getting from a tickled up DT50, a DT125, de-restricted at the speedo, with an aftermarket exhaust, would be somewhere between 75mph and 80mph, I'll be lucky if mine gets to 85mph, and mines effectively a 135, since I've had the overbore, plus all the extra whistles and bangs mines had done to it. The only way a DT125 is capable of doing 100mph, is in the back of an AA recovery van, and the drivers just been told his missus has gone into labour.
  17. I'd call it Amy Winehouse syndrome, A dodgy needle

    About time

Professor Stephen Glaister, director of the RAC Foundation, said: "There are good reasons for making 80 the new 70, and good reasons not to. Drivers travelling that 10mph quicker might reach their destination sooner but will use about 20% more fuel and emit 20% more CO2. Heres how I see it,, take a mean of the fuel bills each week for car owners say £50.00 + 20% = +£10.00 = £60 total uk car ownership,30 million cars, say 3 million per week use the maxspeed limit of 80 mph, = 3,000,000x £10= £30,000,000 govt takes 80% fuel tax = £24,000,000 x 52 = £ 1, 248 000 000 extra going into the coffers, ker-bloody-ching I say

You can go two ways with this Rob, buy a second hand stator with 2 coils on it (presuming its the 2 and not the 3 coil type) Ebay would be the road I'd go down or ring round your local bike salvagers, roughly takes about couple of hours,(tank&seat off, magneto casing off, and you'll need a flywheel puller mind, again Ebay) start to finish, taking old one off, then banging replacement in, , or you can buy a new one from someone who specialises in pattern stuff, and soldering it in yourself, would take an afternoon, ball park estimate, try Yambits, Yuniparts, CMSNL,Fosters, Damerells, see what sort of prices they quote. I had same problem couple of weeks ago myself, but replaced my stator with a second hand one. Just had a look at the CMSNL website they do a new replacement lighting coil assembly at 75 Euros (2coil type) gives an idea of price, and a damn site cheaper than £400. http://www.cmsnl.com...slist/A-08.html Right then I've just spent 10 minutes replying to this, now you need to go into your first post in new members and edit, and do a proper intro, it'll take about, 5 mins max. as it's normally something we require new members to do, forum ettiquette and all that. Cheers Nev
