  1. We've had this technology for years here in the UK, anyway how could you resist those eyes? And if Hetty doesn't rock your boat, well theres always Henry
  2. now yer doing it on purpose, ya must be.
  3. So Nev your saying that the the DT400C model is 475 but the engine serial number could start with 401-XXXXXXX. If this is so please look at my original post. Erm nope, I'm saying your 400c engine is a 574, hence the pic of the model code I posted as the 400c engine being a model code 574 I'm also saying that your engine is a 500 series for 1976 and not the 1977 1m2 series that it became. thats on the CMSNL website link I sent you.
  4. tell her what she needs to coat the terminals in Dirty, to stop em oxidizing, goo on i dare ya, infact double dare ya
  5. Just re-read over the thread and theres a couple of points, I'd like to clarify. Also your list says it was not available in USA, Canada, Europe, Oceana or Japan.. Gee a special model built for Africa.. back then would have sold heaps. Thanks anyways.. So now can you stop wasting my time please airhead and Nev.. thanks. You'd be surprised the later DT'S, TDR's, TZR's were country specific, ie France, Italy and Switzerland being a couple that spring to mind, all being in EUROPE, but not being supplied to Europe as a whole until a year after. The first reply I got in this forum was a smart arse comment and I think if you read the posts you will see it was not rudness on my part but confussion due to the fact that Airhead & Nev were saying the DT400C is serial Number 475-XXXXXX I've read, re-read, and read again, and nowhere can I see I answered in any relevance to a 475-xxxxxx serial number, what I did do was to re-iterate that the model code for a DT400C is 574.Somewhere for you to use as a start off, to find whatever serial goes with a 76 DT400C. Personaly I think someone needs to sit on the naughty step, until they come up with an apology.
  6. I was more in the presumption she owned a pair of tights actually.
  7. Aye and you need to read my second to last thread Mr Magoo
  8. I could tell you, but then afterwards I'd have to kill you. So I won't, one bit of advice though, dont use the Red powerbands, use the Yellow ones. Have a look in my projects thread, it pretty much explains whats what, in there, unless its disappeared into the annals of Y.O.C.
  9. eats through paint after on the tank, whilst filling/drips etc, no like I say use Two Pack paint for your tank. I didn't need a lacquer coat on mine either, you can see on my pic.
  10. Aye, but be carefull when spraying the tank, as petrol eats rattle can spray for breakfast, I made that mistake, and had to have the tank done again with Two Pack paint.
  11. I would've suggested long johns, but the incessant bleeding sending me the Damart, catalogues every 3 days stopped me.
  12. Rub down the plastics with wet & dry, so as to take out all the deep scratches, prime with 2-3 coats of Plastic Primer, again rubbing down with a higher grade wet & dry, top coat, again 2-3 coats, T-cut to take all 'orange peel' out of it, then 2-3 coats of clear lacquer, thats how I roll anyways. Btw Matt, a very cool wheres Wally outfit, if I may say so myself..
  13. Wow allmotor, you got it to 110.9kph in 6th gear on a highway? that equates to 69 mph here, my DT does nowhere near that, but then again it's just a 125. well a 135 really, with with full powered powervalve and servo, full DEP exhaust system, 32mm Mikuni carb, unrestricted CDI, and yellow power band.
  14. Another tip for riding in colder weather Bippo, is to 'borrow' a pair of tights of the missus/girlfriend, keeps the legs nice and warm mate under your trousers, just say a prayer after putting them on, that you don't have an 'off' as sometimes when the paramedics are cutting your jeans off, it can make for awkward questions, I did give the same advice to DirtyDT, but forgot to mention to him that they go 'under' your trousers. A cracking commute you have there every day that mate, those open moors are awesome to ride a bike along, you'll be forgetting all the bad weather you've endured, come the good weather again, next Spring. p.s just noted you're a female, so you'll not need to borrow off the missus/girlfriend, mind you these days nowt surprises me.
  15. Like DT says if you prep them right and take your time they'll come out good, but to be fair if you've spent a few bob doing your DT up as in powdercoating, I reckon buying new plastics gives it the edge, unless you're looking at a custom colour other than Black, White, Blue, Red, etc, plus you'll be surprised how much it adds up using rattle cans, primer, top coat, lacquer, wet n dry, T cut, I doubt theres much difference in cost to a new panel, theres a chap on Ebay, Felipe in Portugal I bought mine from, very good prices for his panels, and decals too.
  16. Well you know what they say "you can lead a horse to knowledge, but you can't make it think" http://www.cmsnl.com...C1.html#resultshttp://www.cmsnl.com...C1.html#results Check the 500 out at the top of the spec sheet, then go look at your barrel again.
  17. I have the codes on pdf, but if you go to http://www.cmsnl.com/yamaha-model-code-reference-1961-1989_model11319/partslist/ should help
  18. Heres a start, it's all out there, its just a case of taking 5 minutes looking.
  19. The part numbers differ as the part number for the radiator on the Silver frame 5VX1 2004 model, is 5VX-12461-00, the fan from the same 2004 model is 5VX-12405-00,these were the same up to 2007.The later bikes 5VXL last produced in 2007, had the parts number 4S8-12461-00, and 4S8-12405-00, for the radiator and fan respectively Hope this helps.
  20. I'm sure your next door neighbour will find a way to quieten it down for ya,
  21. Hi Ben, there's a remapped version of the wiring diagram in my project thread mate, that should sort it out,
  22. Looks like a cracking trip, you two had, what ya reckon to the John O'groats rip off with the travel pole, I think the bloke wanted a tenner to take yer pic next to it, and didn't let anyone get to it that wouldn't pay him, we waited till 6pm when he packed up for the day, and then we all nipped on, and took our own pics.
  23. Didn't Harvey Smith do a bit too, or is that just a weird dream I had recently?
