  1. Ok im done... Nev its simple your single peice of evidence is clearly wrong.. all the web links say its wrong, the parts link i put on say its wrong and Yamaha themselves say its wrong.. You have hijacked this thread with incorrect info for long enough.. so please stop posting Thank you
  2. So the engine model code has nothing to do with the engine serial number or what??.. I dont know what you are going on about and Im pretty sure you dont
  3. So you are saying that the 76 DT400c engine serial numbers would have been 475-XXXXXXX.. ?
  4. Thank you Cynic, I appreciate your input. We did think of that Yamaha had the bike for a couple of weeks and come up short on what it is apart from the fact the frame appears to be a mx250 frame and that it is original. They also believe that the engine is 500cc, but it is possible that it is a hybrid done by yamaha.
  5. So Nev your saying that the the DT400C model is 475 but the engine serial number could start with 401-XXXXXXX. If this is so please look at my original post. At first glance it looks like a DT400 engine in a MX250B frame, but the guys at Yamaha had it for a couple of weeks and said there have been Modifications Frame # 509-007392 Engine # 574-000323 there is a 50000 stamped under the head fins From what I can see the 574- engine number is not a dt400 number at all Based on the above why would you be focussing on the model code at all if it has nothing to do with what I asked..... Gees.. talk about not being helpfull More rudeness Personaly I think someone needs to sit on the naughty step, until they come up with an apology. Personaly I think someone need to sit on the STOP POSTING step, if your want to keep going on about some model code. No apology coming from me mate, stop holding your breathe you with pass out..
  6. By the way Nev you crack me up mate
  7. Thank you DirtyDT, I do understand that some info on the internet can be incorrect. I know it will be difficult to get a complete answer online but we are getting a better picture. The first reply I got in this forum was a smart arse comment and I think if you read the posts you will see it was not rudness on my part but confussion due to the fact that Airhead & Nev were saying the DT400C is serial Number 475-XXXXXX That every other Web site and now Yamaha Australia Say 475-xxxxxx does not exsist. Instead of saying ok then lets rethink this like lots of others are and have done on other forums. They are more obsessed with proving they are right and that is not helpful. Thank you for your concern
  8. I am sorry you felt i was being rude I wasnt the one posting winky faces etc If i cant suggest someones guesses are wrong how am I to get to the right answer. Maybe it is a slang barrier between australia and america Im just trying to figure out what the bike is. Yamaha Australia are struggling to work it out so clearly the answer lies in the US.
  9. I am not out to be rude I posted on this site to get some genuine help as to what this bike is. I thought this site had genuine motorbike enthusiasts and someone may have had some experience in these types of bikes I certainly wasnt ready for the bagging sarcasm and false info that followed. I am not posting as a joke I have posted all the info i have on this bike we are aware the numbers are unique hence why we are looking for info.
  10. Anyway would you agree this is very strange indeed
  11. im sorry but this is the only doc. that says what you are telling me.. it is the serial number I am matching up.
  12. stuff it heres some more http://www.cyclechaos.com/wiki/Yamaha_DT400 Even the site for the link you gave me says your wrong.. haha... http://www.cmsnl.com/yamaha-dt400c-19751976_model8553/partslist/%21SERVIC1.html#results Also your list says it was not available in USA, Canada, Europe, Oceana or Japan.. Gee a special model built for Africa.. back then would have sold heaps. Thanks anyways.. So now can you stop wasting my time please airhead and Nev.. thanks
  13. Ok I get it haha.. So you have one item with those numbers.. lets just as suggested earlier, google dt400c serial numbers http://www.merrittmotorcyclesalvage.com/yamahaidentification.htm http://cyclerestorer.com/pages/show_man_serial_num.php?sort_field=4&manufacturer=Yamaha http://www.dirtrider.net/forums3/showthread.php?t=157610&conly= http://dirtbike.off-road.com/dirtbike/review/yamaha-vintage-dirt-bike-id-guide-21792.html Well thats a few that came up straight away, so I hate to say it is yours wrong or all these????
  14. Sorry Nev but it looks like most of the numbers on the second list are different to all the other reference sites Ive looked at How do I upload pics
  15. thanks for that Nev.. where did you get these because everywhere else says different for DT400c 501-200101--211470, so now im confused
