  3. No stopping me now! New tank from E.bay painted with underseal
  4. YESSSS. got there in the end. Thanks to everybody that helped especially OG (thanks P) This is my old petrol tank riddled with rust holes. New one would have cost £500.00. got a new one from E.bay for £60.00
  5. Cheers old git I will have a go, but as I said what seems easy to you is complicated to me. As my avitar shows I was in the RN when it was "rum, bum, and baccy" now it's "juke, jake and jive"
  6. You've totally lost me now. Not being a defeastist, put it in plain English language please. Don't get me wrong, but I know how to put attachments on e.mails, but I do need help on this one. Please bare with me.
  7. Help me. I would like to produce some photo's on my topic but I haven't a clue how to, bearing in mind I am 60 years old. My kids don't seem to want to help.
  8. Just be careful when you go to foreign countries. They have their own local by-laws which are not known in the UK (I know that Greece is part of the EU) But on BBC Points West this week there was a Non-League football club from Bristol in Greece celebrating something or other dressed in nuns clothing and got arrested for "insulting the uniform". They spent 40 hours in police custody with no food or drink and had to appear in court in their nuns clothing. (Maybe to humiliate them?) I know I've gone off in a tangent, and your dad most likely knows the ropes, but please take care. Regards Mike
  9. Just visited your site. very impressed, are you the bloke with the angle grinder?
  10. I'm glad that you have sorted it out. But What on earth is an "old school bobber?"
  11. If it's any help the engine number on my XJ600 is located on the right hand side of the bike on top of the clutch housing where the oil filler cap is. The serial number (chassis/frame number) is again located on the right hand side of the bike on the frame just under the handlebars. Mike

    nothing special

xs750se Hi, and a very warm welcome. xs750, many, many years ago my first Yamaha was a xs250, are they from the same breed?
  13. Well done Drewpy. This would have made a good TV document fly on the wall type of programme.

    Yamaha YB100

Your'e name isn't Borat by any chance is it?
  15. The catholic priest was walking down the high street and coming towards him was the local vicar. "Good morning vicar" But the vicar walked straight past him. Upon that the priest turned around and in a raised voice said "GOOD MORNING VICAR" I'm so sorry said the vicar, but someone has stolen my Yamaha DT125, and it's the only means of me getting to see my parishiners out in the countryside, without it I don't know what I will do. "Simple" said the priest. "When you take Mass next Sunday recite the ten commandments, when you get to ""Thy shall not steal"" look up at the congregation and you will spot the guilty face." Next Monday the priest was walking down the high street and the vicar was coming towards him with a big smile on his face. "Good morning vicar, did what I suggested work then?" "Well sort of father, when I got to ""Thy shalt not commit adultry"" I remembered where I left my bike"
  16. I've allways used Castrol chain wax
  17. Make sure it's suitable for chains with O.rings as i'm sure yours will have them.
  18. Sorry about delay answering, yes, it is a common problem I get it with mine at around 4500rpm and i'm sure it's to do with exhaust system because just before I had to replace them it almost dissapeared but as soon as I put new ones on it came back again. The annoying thing is on my bike 4500rpm is at 60mph so I tend to go at 62mph and it's completely gone. Mike
  19. It's been stay at home weather in Wiltshire, been annoying the missus by getting in the way in the kitchen while she is doing the dinner. Anybody else in the country had better weather that could get out on their bike?

    sat-nav

Sat Nav vs Road map? Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I'm still using my 1974 AA route map. No I'm not (only joking), I am using a more modern large scale version. Seriously though I prefer the good old fashioned way of planning your route the night before.
  21. Is it a continous rattle or does it just happen around 4500 rpm?
  22. Going on from my last comment, about 12 years ago we had a bomb scare in Chippenham (they found an unexploded bomb in a field) so all the traffic was stopped from going into the centre and as I was slowly going down the queue a very irate lorry driver emptied the entire contents of his cab out onto me as I was going past. To what point I do not know because it missed me and ended up on the road.
  23. I commute on my bike every working day, no problem going to work because it's 05:30, but when coming home from work at 17:00 traffic is a nightmare. When approaching roundabouts I do creep along the outside and 90% of cars will pull over into the left, which I always acknowledge with a thank you with my left hand, but you will always get the non-biker who doesn't like it. It's not as if you are depriving of them of a space in front of them but they think that if they have got to sit in a queue they don't like anybody that doesn't. 90% of vehicles accept that bikers can go where cars/vans/lorries can't go so they accept it. You will always get the odd dickhead.
  24. Well done, and take care. You couldn't have passed at a better time of the year.
