  1. Cool. Great song and great wee gizmo
  2. Good luck with it. If I wasn't clear about the gear lever, I meant the gear selector - it can be adjusted up or down and must be fairly easy to do as hubby did it in no time flat with no real mechanical knowledge - took us a couple of attempts to get it right as the first way he adjusted it, I couldn't get out of first (boy where there tears then!)
  3. Oh God I just love them (lookswise). Every time I see one in a shop, I end up just staring at it, but in terms of "practical"...well that's not it for me unfortunately.
  4. I've had exactly the same troubles as well, but now seems resolved (touches wood). Getting it into 1st from neutral is common but easily resolved by releasing the clutch til you feel it bite (even though the neutral light is on), bringing it in and sticking it into 1st. Works every time and there is a definite clunk as it goes into 1st. The jumping from 2nd into neutral problem isn't really an isue any more - could be the adjusting of the gear lever (can't remember if it was adjusted up or down) or that I'm very positive (read firm!) with gear changes now. Either way, problem sorted mostly
  5. I can't offer advice on the practicality of the trip as i've never done anything liek this myself, but I'm surprised you're going nowhere near Galway - it's fantastic there. great craic and good nightlife from what I can recall
  6. That's a very arty shot! Nice. Welcome to the forum and hope you enjoy the bike. I'm selling mine at the mo, but it was fun to ride and helped me learn a lot.
  7. 'Bout ye! I'm in Birmingham (Erdington) and ride a YBR too, though going to look at a few bikes at the weekend. Hope you enjoy the forum - plenty of helpful folk with good advice about
  8. Congrats on the first big bike - I'm looking for a Hornet too after passing yesterday. (Heart tells me I'd like a new XJ6 or even the MT-03 despite it being a single, but head tells me a lot different). Good luck on the new bike and let us know how you get on in general! I hope you have many great rides on your new bike
  9. I think the nod is great! It was the nicest feeling getting my first nod and really symbolises the commuunity spirit bikers have which most car drivers clearly don't! it will be interesing seeing how many nods I get without my L-plates on, as I was never sure if I was missing out on nods because of them or because of my hi-viz waistcoat I do think that the bikers you see around the gathering places are the most likely to nod back, presumably because they're the ones who gather!
  10. Aw thanks mate - I'm still buzzing now! Just need to find a cheap 600-ish to do me for a year or so! ok, thanks for the clarification

    Hello

There's a big Scottish contingent, plenty of Welsh and English lasses too! Actually, I think there's a couple of Australians too Certainly not trying to take anything away from this site, but it's nice to post somewhere and get a purely female perspective on things. Plus, you can ask the questions you'd to too embarrassed to ask on the serious forums (and I do plenty of that!!!).
  12. Yes that's the one, thanks. I'm a bit confused though - is this applying to new joiners or to everybody?
  13. Before anybody asks, I did try the search function and couldn't find an answer! I recently had an email from the forum about membership status and i think it mentioned being a sponsor to view certain areas of the site but have deleted it and now want to read it again. Yes, I am a bit of an eejit Is it somewhere on the forum that I can read again?

    Hello

'Bout ye Thought it was you!
  15. Beautiful bike (although I've no idea what a shim is)
  16. One of the best ones this year - ta muchly
  17. No offense meant or taken. They're not bikers at all and hate the idea of me riding, hence why I only started it now that I've got the Irish Sea between us. My dad took me to the UGP but he was there for the hospitality whilst I watched the racing (and loved the classic bikes going round). My bro was saying a week or so ago that he was representing the council at some bikingrelated event, but no idea what it was. I'll have to ask him to tell me what's the score on the council's sponsorship - at the end of the day, I presume the council are aware that it brings people (and money!) to the area and that has to be supported.
  18. lol not sure how to respond to that, as my dad was a Lisburn Councillor and my brother still is!
  19. don't you worry - soon as I pass my DAS me and the OH will be taking the ferry back home for once just to see my family's faces Am hoping to get it before May to do the NW200, but if not may do the UGP instead. It was good craic last time I went as a teen (my dad dragged me along and then I realised it was so he could steal my complimentary passes for the beer tent!)
  20. I'm dead jealous of you folks - I move from NI and then take up biking . From Lisburn originally, so would love to do the Dundrod area on a bike! Hope you get the answers you want re: the UGP and good luck.

To summarise... It started off with a bit of a lu-lu anti-mod rant and went downhill from there. It's getting more lu-lu by the post apparently Hope that clears things up for you
  22. Totally agree - we travelled from Brum to go to this and it was a complete diappointment. By the looks of the entirely empty hall which housed only the ticket booths, MCN didn't get the exhibitors it was hoping for. Suzuki weren't even there for goodness sake (not that that bothered me, buy hubby wanted another gander at the V-strom). Having been to the NEC one, this one was such a let down and it's just a shame that we wasted a day and our pennies travelling there.
  23. Hey! I'm a girl too, but ugly as sin so not quite the same as the others lol. I introduced myself in a separate thread a while ago but nobody mentioned nibbles! Can I have nibbles please?
