  1. it will be around 22nd may or early june depending when my last GCSE exam is. my mate from school is deffo in. . went to probike last week and tried out some luggage gear, i could fit a set of panniers on there okay but will need to fabricate some tinwork to shield it from the exhaust. will also be going with a sports tankbag as a touring one just looks ridiculous on that tiny little tank. am giving it an overhaul during the Xmas holidays, new tyres, brake shoes, the works. also have a big bore kit and new set of reeds on the way, wont be doing anything drastic though as i still want it to be reliable.
  2. always an excuse... i will keep riding the DT thorugh winter, its my only transport as i dont have a pushbike anymore (sold it to buy the DT...) i take good care of it in the hope that it takes good care of me in return

*tumbleweed* good on you for trying , its so bad its almost good, lol
  4. hmm, will have to show that to my dad, he is almost 60 and still has a 1995 Honda CBR900 Urban Tiger :S... i asked him if the thought it was time to get something a little bit slower but he didnt seem too enthusiatsic... i did offer to trade him for my DT50MX,
  5. you will want a nice drag star if kate moss is cleaning it then, plenty of low-down places that need cleaning... gotta bend right down to get at them id like a nice ford capri... like the styling of them more than anything, plus a 3L petrol sounds so awesome, but no doubt costs alot to run.
  6. hmm, quite like Goffs idea. will have to give it a bit more thought nearer the time methink
  7. Sorry to hear about the bike, my mate lives on a council estate and has the shit beaten out of his moped on a regular basis. i know i know, its only a moped... but its a yamaha... . i like the story of the triumph roadster payback... had some twat cut me up at a roundabout a few weeks back despite teh fact he saw me on it and came within about 5 inches of having me off. he got caught in rush hour traffic, i filtered down the middle and as i went past i stopped and whacked his mirror off and carried on, serves the sod right. this is turning into a Motorcycle Vigilante thread :S

hmm, these drum brakes are surprisingly sharp and sensative, last time i tried putting the brake on/off repeatedly the bike started bouncing like a newlyweds mattress (very soft shocks, can run over a kerb and not feel it and get airbourne over speedbumps) my chosen technique is slow down early, make sure i am prepared of the corner and put my feet down if i feel the need, then take it as slow as i think nescessary regardless of what the tosser in the car behind thinks

    any one use MSN?

er, its facebook, Goff m'dear and i thought i was bad with all this technology, i only just learnt to text and im 16 . its quicker and more personal to speak on the phone or in person anyway
  10. sounds to me like it is bogging down with fuel when going from throttle open to closed, your theory may well be correct. strip the carbs down and have a look-see, deffo sounds like overfueling to me though
  11. my dad has a van but 200 miles is too far to go and i can respect that. atleast 4 hours solid driving. hiring a man with a van could probably work, my dads neighbour is a courier with a big curtainside van so it may be worth asking him

yeh, came off it on a diesel spill in a car park when still on the front brake a bit hard, put a crack through my left mirror which i spent £10 for the pair and had them on there two days... other than that its a tip-top bike for its age, does me fine but i really wish it had some plastic on it, gets terribly cold especially at night. will probably get some hand muffs
  13. how could/would i fit a rev counter? could come in handy

better still, wait until they are caught in traffic, filter down the middle and whack their mirror off, if you are feeling daring you may rip it off and hand it back to them through the window before making good your escape
  15. Hi everyone im still planning my tour of ireland and have decided that insted of riding a distance of 200+ miles from my hometown of newbury to Liverpool to get a ferry to dublin, it would be easier to ride to ride to somewere like reading, put the bikes on a train and get off at liverpool... ... question is, are there any services that would allow me to ride the bike on and then stay with it for the journey instead of having to send the bike in freight a few days before hand? (its just me and a mate from school so far, with another forum member possibly joining in, so make that 2 bikes with luggage and possibly a 3rd)

ah right, may be worth considering for when you get those impatiant twats riding right behind me when i am flat out at 40, they dont want to overtake you but just piss you off so much, i have on occasion decided to give them a brake test, but daren't follow it all the way through incase they decide to shunt me
  17. hi everyone. im really enjoying my little DT but want to go meet and mingle with other bikers, are there any meets in the new year close to Newbury? (30-40 mile radius at most) thanks all, ride safe - Steve

how would he get them out of his pocket and chuck them without being seen and bollocked at the next set of lights?
  19. good old irn bru for the sake of a few quid i will go up to 14 on the front and see how i get on, but i was riding with a mate and his ped speedo was showing 52 when i passed him
  20. Stock is 11, so +2 is 13, i may aswell go to probike and get their front sprocket for a fiver nope, its either a 14 or staying where it is,
  21. thought as much. even if i am still getting 40 out of it with a 14 on the front i would feel happier riding it at 40 because currently it will get up to 40 and then i can really feelt he vibrations through the handlebars and footpegs, which makes my feet and hands go all giddy. plus, lower revs = longer lasting engine
  22. Probike said all they had was a 13, so im'a try and find a place where i can get 14 or bigger. will going down 1 tooth on the back make any difference at all?
  23. im running a 45 on the back, smallest i think is a 44. and a 12 on the front, largest is a 14. so i just need to find a 60mm sprocket with less than 44 teeth at 420 pitch... shouldn't be hard

yep, its getting that time of year again. im starting to wish i was old enough to have a car, or atleast had a bike with a bit of plastic on the front of it, that little peashooter of mine gets awful cold
  25. thats for the back sprocket. front sprockets work the other way as i understand it. there was a question about that in my RAF Airmen Selection Test today, it showed two gears and a series of answers. a small gear turning a larger one, the correct answer was "the smaller gear turns faster and in the opposite direction to the larger gear" i got 9/9 on the mechanical skills section, and i qualified to be an aviation mengineer XD
