Crazy idea number 21345-6. A vmax with that front end.....
  2. I'm in. Bar anymore of this years weirdness I will be free to arrive anytime Friday. Fucking A......
  3. There is still space. Looking to book myself in looks like I can go. Worst case will be there late afternoon on Friday.
  4. Im gagging to go but they are dragging their feet at work. Office people worked through so there is no rush to sort holiday for people who have been 'sat on their arse' off since Easter.
  5. Crikey, makes my 400 mile day round snowdon look a bit lame. Was a great day though, air was crisp for a lot of it, sun came out around 2. Lake bala especially is stunning.
  6. Wont be able to check with work till Monday earliest, even then im not sure of the response. May just be for Sat night, with luck i will get sat and friday free, will let you know as soon as i do.
  7. With any luck it's just a head gasket failure. Check when you remove it. If the headgasket looks sound you may have a cracked head. It's surprising as these engines are more reliable than time it's self unless abused to ridiculous levels or big bored.
  8. Added a link to the facebook page with the group. https://www.facebook.com/events/2718299398420321?acontext={"source"%3A5%2C"action_history"%3A[{"surface"%3A"page"%2C"mechanism"%3A"main_list"%2C"extra_data"%3A"\"[]\""}]%2C"has_source"%3Atrue}
  9. Not quite on the same lines but I'm going on a ride out on Sunday morning, meeting in Coventry at 8.30. Heading out to Snowdonia, around 200 miles i believe, all welcome. Just a 250cc min, i think?. If anybody wants to know more and maybe tag along give me a shout. edit. just checked, more like 340, plus getting to cov.
  10. No help from me either, sorry. The country is choked with the litteral, thousands of people that would ave gone abroad. Have some friends staying in St Ives and they say its packed, campsites, beaches, theme parks. Only things not packed are the museums and similar because they have the social distance rules limiting numbers. But you que for those. Apparently, dont mention parking.
  11. Works for me, is it worth having a point man to take the cash and book as a lump. Are we doing Fri and Saturday there? As in meet up Friday, Bamber or wherever and back to the digs, then home?
  12. So which is yours the 500 or the 750..
  13. I could have a couple of extras with me too, 1 almost certain on a busa.

    Tool question.

Only have a small compressor, its not so much it blew, its that firms are getting so blatant in their claims. I have noticed several that can only give quoted full power with certain batteries, some can be a quarter of the advertised figure needing say a 5ah battery to give the goods but sell it with a 1.5ah. Its a bloody minefield. Save some pennies and buy the dewalt one i think. Plus point the car got stripped to the cam belt, its in good condition, water pump looks good too. So considering the mondeo shat its injectors a month after doing the belt turning it into basically scrap im going to leave the cam belt as is. It certainly doesent look like its 35000 miles past its change point, With 170k on the clock any number of things could kill it. The chassis and interior are still fine, hardly any corrosion at all i would happily fit another lump.

    Tool question.

F..k sake, so i went for a supposedly 400nm gun from sealey, what a waste of time. Rattle, rattle, rattle, poof, cloud of blue smoke and no more, what a piece of garbage. What good is a tool designed to work really hard at getting stubborn bolts off that dies at its first test. I think it should have rattled till it shut its self down, not blew up. I have worked my crappy old bosch battery drill till it was smoking, (was kind of in a hurry at the time, ferry to catch but hey), didn't kill it though. Moneyback time.

    Tool question.

Leaning toward the 1/2 inch drive, the real benefit is shifting the bigger stuff, shock mounts and caliper bolts on the car. That fkin flywheel nut on the max. So i think im going to go bigger. John how do you not rip all the bike fasters to bits. Can you be gentle with em?

    Tool question.

Posted this on the FB site too. OK tool addicts, get to treat myself with the proceeds from the fj trouble is I'm undecided. Dewalt do a 170nm impact driver and a 130nm impact wrench, which one? same cost. Driver has more diy use but less effective when working on the car, uses hex screwdriver fittings. But I have the adapters. Primary use is the bikes and the car, screws are low on the priority list but it is a plus i suppose, might help with chocolate jis crankcase screws? There are times, like the recent starter clutch when they are really useful. 130nm is a lot too, try it on your torque wrench. Dont want to be ripping heads off. I am going to get a normal air gun, or maybe electric for the big stuff. Got to do the timing belt on the wife's car next, good test. Which would you choose.. https://www.screwfix.com/p/dewalt-dcf813d2-gb-10-8v-2-0ah-li-ion-xr-cordless-impact-wrench/6139j https://www.screwfix.com/p/dewalt-dcf787d2t-sfgb-18v-2-0ah-li-ion-xr-brushless-cordless-impact-driver/489hp

This is the part number, 156-82540-00 It was used on a lot of yams of the period, 1964 yds3, 1965 yds3, yds3c, ym1, 1966 yds3, yds3c, ym1s, 1967 yds5e, 1969 ds6c, 1970 ds6b, could well be more. Looks like you might need to get one from the states looking at ebay, fowlers might be able to do something. They do seem to be able to pull stuff out of the bag, sometimes just speaking to one of their guys on the phone can get you what you need. Has worked for me in the past.

I think that is either dead or something someone had that filled the hole. This is what it should look like, https://www.cmsnl.com/yamaha-yds5-1967-usa_model8304/neutral-switch-asy_1568254000/#.Xwrj_OWSnIU

Its a weird shifter on these things as i recall, there is no shifter drum with the usual detents. The gear leaver turns a ring and that affects the shift forks on a long pair of cross shafts. Made sense to someone? Looking under the bike my bet would be something on the round raised area in what looks like a sump but isn't. That's the shift ring and the neutral detent will like as not be around there, wire looks about the right size. I'm scratching my head back to a yds i messed with with my dad when i was 15. Hope it helps.

  22. Ok, how much fluid did you start with in the header tank. Water is supposed to vent out into the header tank and then when its cooling down pull it back. Does the level in the header tank change?
