....are the way to go you know. I reckon we're going to see more and more people switching to them....except the shorties of course! Mark my words, the big growth in industry sales is going to come from this sector.

There seem to be many DT125s with vastly varying performance out there. I wonder what people have had out of theirs? I cant find performance figures for a standard bike anywhere, ie 0-62mph, 1/4 mile, top speed etc. Has anyone timed their bike? I have an 05' DT125X, dealer de-restricted and it does over 85mph indicated speed (probs about 80mph real speed as I imagine the speedo will over read). I have since fitted a full DEP exhaust system and it pulls much better now, although I havent tried to top it out since fitting. I'm too scared it will go bang!! What have you had out of yours? Hello, my names Anthony and im new to the forum and am looking forward to becoming a contributing member. I just bought a 1974 dt175 and have a few questions about it. first is there an oil injection on this bike? the lady at the yamaha store seemed to think there is but I cant find it anywhere. Ive been mixing gas/oil 40:1 i was out riding today with no problems in a parking lot so me and a friend decided to go to a dirt track. my buddy drove around the track a few times and ran out of gas (he didnt turn the valve to on). so we turned the valve to on and restarted. when shifting to first it would jump and stall out on us. it did this maybe 5 times and on the 6th or…

I'm gutted, the TDR tank has got a leak, i thought it was the fuel tap but on investigation there was the beginings of a tiny rust blister (as i thought) put my finger to it and got petrol from it. I am in the dark here. Good TDR tanks are rarer than gold plated pearl encrusted rocking horse spu...... Any suggestions, ideally i need to keep the tank as the bike is at present almost 100% as manufactured and try to damage as little as i can with the repair although thankfully the trouble spot is behind the LH rad cowl. I am in the dark on this, never had to mess with leaky tanks so i'm all ears if anybody can help.

Having never torn a 2stroke apart I've got a question regarding the piston. When the reed valve is removed and you look down the intake port, how far should the piston descend past the port. Right now it appears that the piston doesn't go below the intake port at all. This would explain why I don't seem to be getting any fuel to the cylinder. I'm not sure how it could be possible for the piston to not descend far enough but it seems to be the case. If someone has a pic of the intake manifold with the piston fully descended that would be appreciated.

Hey peeps, I'm at a loose end here...I've been looking for aftermarket graphics for my DT for a while now and am having no luck at all. What I'm after is a kit comprising of stickers for the tank + Rad' scoops, swingarm, side panels and fenders. I was originally going to buy a kit from ebay, from a guy giving options for either union jack, racing colours or a warrior style pattern but I haven't seen it on there again and I can't find it anywhere on the net. Has anyone else seen similar and do you have any links? It would be massively appreciated! Please email on [email protected] Thanks in anticipation Rhys

Hi guys, I've recently replaced the carburettor on my bike. The replacement carburettor I fitted was from a Yamaha TZR125 which, in essence, has the same overall engine layout and design as the DT125R. The carburettor I fitted was a Mikuni VM26SS which is what was already fitted to the DT125R before. The problem now is that when I try to kick start it, it starts for about three seconds before cutting out. When I kick start it, I can smell the fuel strongly so that means that the fuel is getting to the cylinder but isn't igniting properly. The spark plug hasn't been changed in at least a year so I was wondering if this could be the solution. If I replace the spark plug …

well, thought I had it all sorted, set of early for mot this mornin but on the way my f left indicator stopped working, turned out to be a bad earth, but buy the time I had sorted it and got to the garage there wasn't time to mot it as they finish at 1 on sat. to make matters worse on the way home my clutch went light and then stopped working, there seems to be very little resistance there, I wound all the adjusters as far out as they would go just in case but it made no difference. any pointers of where to start greatly appreciated on the plus side I did get to ride the bike for the first time in about 4 years and its loads lighter to push on the walk of shame than…

Hi I’m having problems with my gearbox after strip down. I believe the problem was already there before as it was a non runner and when stripping I noticed the gear change shaft was bent about 2mm. I have straightened it now to about .5mm. When I try to change gear when gear selector is built up I get nothing but if I use a flattened file as a selector it changes ok. see photos Any advice would be great cheers Graham

.....on the DT175 today! 8) My 13 year old had his first bike ride....he actually popped an accidental wheelie on his first pulling away attempt. Not long after he parted company with it, but him and the bike were fine as he was on grass! Actually, I nearly binned it twice...once when I attempted a sort of "powerslide" that didn't quite work out...and then when I belted up a bank and wheelied at the top. Good wheelie in terms of height cos I was vertical....unfortunately it started veering to one side in mid air! Saved it though....just! The wife then told me to grow up, reminded me I was 50, and made me take the bike home in case I wrecked it! …
