Went out for a spin with RoadRash & Camas from http://www.trailpilgrim.com today.......Our mission, which we chose to accept, was to get as close to the lookout towers @ the top of Goat Mtn, as we could. We went out through some nice twisties in the country & came across a road-block.....but as usual, 2-Wheels Prevail! So what's all the fuss about?....Hell, there's still one good lane left! That road had quite a bit of debris left from the recent rain & winds...not to mention there wasn't ANY traffic on it! We then made our way up into part of the Mt. Hood Nat'l Forest where Goat Mtn. resides.... Right about here is when Camas de…

Hi all, I'm trying to get my 1978 DT175 started. I finally got the tank cleaned out and filled it with gas and now I'm trying to start the sucker with the kickstarter. I pulled the choke and verified the fuel line was open and not clogged. I kicked the hell out of it to no avail. It actually did make a brief putter (.5 seconds) like it was starting up but then quickly died. The bike has been sitting for a year is what the previous owner told me. The fuel lines aren't clogged, the clutch appears to be operating smoothly, which makes me think it may be that my spark plug isn't firing. I checked the plug and the connection to it and they both appear clean, so now…

Hi Just got myself a 88 XT350. Its an import and needs some TLC, great mechanical order, just a bit scruffy on the bodywork side of things. Looking forward to some fun times during the winter sorting it all out. Cheers John

I've just bought a 2006 xt 225 after years of owning a 82 xt. I've done 2000 k's on it and have found it to be a great all round bike so far ( as I knew it would be). My old xt had a metal luggage rack on the back which I found really useful. I was wondering if anyone out there would be able to tell me where I could get another one? I've searched the net for ages but have had no luck. I like going bush and would like to strap some stuff to the back of it. I'm in western australia so will probably have to order it in. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Happy riding!

I have a chance to pick up a 1982 YZ 250, that appears in very good shape. It has never been apart, still on factory bore and appears compeletly original. The person selling says it runs very well but is cold hearted and hard to start. Since I've been out of MX bikes for 30 years, what should I look for a problem areas on this specific bike? I have reasonable mechanicle skills and maintain a 2 strole 1972 Mach 3 Kawa street bike. Are there any NLA parts I need to look out for? I have seen the decal kits available but what about pistons and internals available or are the an Ebay search item? Thanks in advance Mike

  14. awhile back i had a problem with all the electrics as the back indicator had been smashed so didnt work then everything stopped working, discovered that all the wires under the seat had melted together( shorted out from indicator i think) so after hours and many lenths of wire fixed all the wires so everything works fine now, horn, alarm, lights ect. the problem now is the neutral light and oil light dont work anymore, iv looked at all the rest of the wires under the seat and headlight but there all fine, could it be anything to do with a relay or something, or whatever detects its in neutral from the gearbox? thanks 4 anyhelp in advance

Hi New to the site........I need help. In the process of selling my TTR 600, went to start it today and while I was kicking it over (no electric start) there seemed to be a "clunk". Now there is no resistance on the kick starter, it doesn't seem to be engaging, it is free to move travels its full travel but just doesn't engage with any cogs/teeth/gears. Not sure if this has anything to do with it but I can hear a click from the decompressor as the kick starter moves to the bottom of its travel. Could the problem be linked at all. The bike is a bit of a monster to start and can take a while with numerous kicks on the starter, have I just worn the mechanism…

Hers one for the books. I have a late 70's dt 175 where one minute it worked fine next it died. the ignition failed. checked all components from ignition to the points. Everything checked fine and still no spark . I'm not a mechanic but have enough years or experience with engines to solve my own engine problems by refering to a manual of some sort, but this one really stumps me. When the flywheel is seated properly on the crankshaft you get no spark, when you move it out away from the engine about 1/8" of an inch we get a nice healthy spark. Now a simple solution woul be to put a spacer behind the flywhee and solve the issue unfortunatly the shaft is tappere…

Hi there, I'm new to the forum, and new to motor bikes really! I've been given this bike for free, I believe its a DT 175, It maybe a bit girly, but I'm sure it will do me for a first bike! The problem is, its not been run for about 6 years, what do I need to do or check before I try and fire her up? I've drained the fuel, and that's about it so far! Things I know it needs are -Kick start lever is missing -I cant get it into any gears apart from first, I presume first is down, up for neutral then the rest follow? -Some spokes are loose on the back wheel I want to try get it running, then I can decide if its worth spending a bit of cash ge…

Hey.. wondering if somebody could give me a little insight on this.. I have a Yamaha DT 400.. and sometimes when I shift.. I forget to hit the clutch.. BUT!.. it shifts with no problems with no clutch. Is it necessary all the time to use the clutch? Really just wanting to know incase i'm in the trail and my clutch cable goes on me.. I know that when I'm stationary.. I have to use the clutch to go in to neutral or first after stalling it in mud or something. Thanks for any help you fella's (and gals if there are any) can give me. -Derwood

Well found another cylinder for my bike, and it's a 1979 not a 1978. Anyways, it is very rough, but it is complete. Just needs to be cleaned back up and brought back to life. Should be a fun, fast ride when I'm done with it. But it was free, and I don't really feel like parting it apart. Inner tube for a seat cover... This has been cleaned now Cylinder was shot and then lost by previous owner... I'm going to replace several main bearings inside the case while it's apart Going to need: Rebore Piston, pin, rings Seat cover Work on the plastics or else replacements, including side covers Rear tire Tail light …
