DE-RUSTING fuel tank
Yes there are chemical treatments to fix the tank but you still have to do the dad dance. Search for tank sealers. Some are out dated like petseal, whick breaks up in ethanol. There are others, the one I used came from tank care products (I think). Several years ago now. Still have the pot I mixed it in and nothing, NOTHING from bleach to battery acid has so much as stained it. Handfull of gravel, some white spirit and a dad dance does start things off though.......

Possible to pick up a DT 125 FOR £900?
Them there are SO many dt's out there you just got to put a bit of effort and patience and a tidy 900 quid bike will come up. They havd been making them for over 30 years.

Possible to pick up a DT 125 FOR £900?
Ignore them. For 900quid dont look at 06 stuff, their slower anyway. Step back further, go for a tidy late 90's bike (quicker). There are thousands out there so go see, then go see another. Till you get a good one. They are abused from mile 1 so age is irrelevant Just condition.

Got the second RD400
Jammy bugger, a good 400 was on my shopping option list (although I wanted spoked wheels, yeah rocking horse rare I know) when I sold my 600 for the sake of my licence. Just the TDR came up first. I cant go past 2 in the stable so untill I pass the dt to my daughter it will have to wait. Might beg a go though next time we meet.

Buy a new chain and sprokets. Yours are obviously nacked. By its design a chain cannot come off unless its hideously adjusted or nacked.

Car head lights on back roads
I know what you mean I am in the same situation. Couple of soloutions. When headlights approach look at the kerb and use that as a marker to stop your eyes being drawn.(we naturally deep down feel safe and want the light your fighting this caveman instinct). If your helmet has a built in drop down tinted visor use it so its just above your normal vision line then look through it for headlights. Also keep your visor spotlessly clean with no smears etc inside too and replace it regularily as use will cause very fine scratches that make it much worse. Worst case with the weather atm. Lift you visor. Dont look at the lights though. I smashed a Gp100 on a country road because of some idiot on full beam. I dont think modern headlights need to be so bright either. Dipped beam is to be seen, not to see with.

DT125r possible problem?
Could be float height messing things now the leak is fixed. My dt is very sensitive to it.
-
suzi rm 250 1998
Lol When the piston blew in my dt the bits get right through the motor. Big end and mains will drop next. Maybe through the cases if its really bad. As for polishing the cases, wtf
-
High octane and 2 stroke!
Boom. Your engine is designed to run with lower octane fuel for your market, im assuming US with an'f'. Unless you retune adjusting the timing for the 100 you will kill the piston. Aircooled Dts are sensitive to hot spots on the piston the piston temp on 100 grade fuel may be a step too far too.

Won't start
When was the last time it ran?

DT125r possible problem?
Sounds like a minor sieze, sometimes called nipping up. Check all your fluid levels, the noise is worrying. Does it still run ok. moved, say hi in the new members. Where you are etc.

'70 - '80 DT175 owners advice on the bike and any recommended modifications?
Ever ridden a Dt175, ever ridden a TDR250. If you can say yes to both it will make utter sense. The dt is screaming for another 10hp to go from good to great.
