  1. You need to introduce yourself in the new members area. Lot of people here dont answer posts with single figure post counts. As is goes, no! lead never has been needed in 2strokes. It wasnt used in japaneese fuel and super unleaded?. Dont waste your money. Reg unleaded is fine, the super could actually damage the engine.
  2. So what did you get? a fine? community service?
  3. Be real, 100000 miles on an R1. Its shagged, it may look pretty but its done the work of 20 R1's at that age. The running gear will all be worn rotten. If you really want it it needs to be cheap, real cheap.
  4. 'Warmed' 4.6 v8 in a P38 (MK2) Range rover, pulling our caravan or off road 5-6mpg is common. You can get as high as 12 or 14 if your REALLY gentle. Meh, disqualified. Only counts if your paying for the fuel...
  5. Heh fuel, your all amaters. 140 quid from bone dry, 250miles, maybe a bit more.
  6. New plates in an old basket with old steels. Whats the milage, there nay be rough edges on the basket from the old plates. That could play up. The bike should stand for at least a couple of weeks without issue.
  7. Too late now, im out west Glosterish signal is partial at best. So I renewed to be safe. To be fair it was last minute I sent the pm Sat morning, cert wast paying those phone rates. Maybe next time.
  8. Anybody had a response. Going to stay with cia otherwise as my insurance runs out today. Not ringing that 0800 number, 40p a minute
  9. Scampi fries would be my guess....
  10. Foxhunts, that something I havent done in a long time. Dirty, find a local land rover club and go try the 'experience'. The bad everything sIII really was, rotted like old fruit. Same with early coilers. Either get really new, which is a lot of cash for a bad car if you dont need what it does or buy old, very old. Stuff from the 60's they were made out of materials before the pennypinchers. Looking at a few grand for anything worthwhile with an mot. Bit of a LR fan, not a bad as I was but been running them in some form for the last 15yrs. Currently a 4.6 P38.
  11. Crikey, and they say brits moan at the weather....
  12. Used to when I marshalled at off road 4wd events. Why?
  13. Kev, I can't see your point. Is there something your trying to tell us. You should be more direct. Speak your mind.
  14. Don't know, you got the right spot with the question. Trouble is you need to say high first in the new members area. What bike, (always a good start). Where you are what your spanners ability is etc. Folks on here generally leave folks alone that post short. Far too many one post wonders.

Nah tootling along with you and Dirty I was actually getting over 60mpg, can you believe that. I normally get mid/high 30's. Whoops
  16. So your crank is full of fuel then. Head gasket could be fine and the hydraulic pressure from your kicks could be breaking the seal. The difficulty is draining the crank. Leave things open, maybe warm it but that's difficult to do safely. You 'could' pop the barrel and head back on, plug the carb inlet on the engine then spin the engine with a battery drill, most of the fluid will blow out of the plug hole and the exhaust. Not pretty but effective. Then a heat gun warming the area under the engine where the crank is may help clear more. One thing is for certain it wont start in a month of sundays at the moment. It sounds like your actual problem is with the float valve in the carb, it isn't sealing through dirt or being worn. That has allowed the engine to fill with fuel, literally. You need to look at this, otherwise the problems will keep repeating, with a dud float valve you may flood out in town riding, even hydraulic lock is possible which can crack pistons and heads.
  17. Yambits sell them, or Webmoto, amongst others. If it isn't sealing water out when its not even running....... What is the base gasket like?
  18. Ok so your choices are..... The colour of a happy man wand topper......(your stated fav) Blue Or a colour far too close to moron to be safe on this site.....
  19. As a black and yellow TDR owner obviously blue IS the slower colour but I don't mind, take one for the team and all.
  20. Yep, mini indicators. Using I think 12w capless bulbs. Either get some higher wattage bulbs (you can get 18's I think) although they may damage the lenses. Otherwise you need an LED flasher relay. That uses an electronic timer instead of the bi metal strip DT was talking about.
  21. It seized up but on the crank not the piston. Now its cold it moved. That movement allowed it to turn a little and that got it going again. It may go again and run fine (with good oil mixed properly). I would certainly try on a field bike. If its a proper road bike. that's a tricky call. Should really give it a rebuild, depends how lucky you are.
  22. Hey, one minute I'm a Lord now I'm one of the 2ronnies. I could have granted you land and riches from my title, ah well you just get the tee shirt.... So long as the 2tone is gone I'm fine with it.
  23. Yep, mate of mine. In our fine armed forces. Wears a wedding ring, not married and never wants to be (proper army barmy, finished his term then went back in) but he recons its a first class winner. Prob for the same reasons.
