Thats Great Alex, Big thanks to you for this! do we have to quote our user name or something like this to prove to them we are an actual member of the YOC? was just wondering this as anyone could claim that they are a member even if they are not.

Also is this only open for paying members?

You don't need to prove anything over the phone, it's a dedicated number just for the club. In the event of an accident though I am manually contacted by the insurer to check that the membership was current. I'll need to work on the membership language now to clarify the memberships, but hopefully people will be more willing to support the club officially now that they are hopefully going to save a fair bit of cash on their insurance ;-)

Next up, USA and AU insurers...

Yer this should be a good membership booster, just hopefully folk don't just sign up just to get this offer and bugger off again. But if your going to be contacted to clarify membership then thats a good step in controlling things.

Bikesure are often amongst the cheapest brokers, so with a discount could be very cheap indeed.

Does membership refer to signed up or paid/donated member? Also why are they checking in the event of an accident and not at point of sale? Sounds a bit dubious to me... Will we find out we may have no insurance?

I'm also a member of a V Strom forum which Bikesure Insurance partners with and have not heard of membership checks in the event of an accident, though I have heard of clauses in the insurance that stipulates you have to have a Sold Secure (or equivalent) disc lock even though not mentioned at purchase.

Whilst I'm sure this partnership will benefit many I think there needs to be clarity from Bikesure.

It could be setup at time of sale, but we'll see how we get on. If needed at a later stage we'll have to setup some type of feed I suppose with Bikesure so they can check online. They're sending through the FSA regulations so will have a good check through.

Someone from Bikesure will be signing up within a few days and will answer any questions here.

I had my Harley insured with Bikesure and for a modified bike they were brilliant. They customised my policy to cover all my accessories and modifications with brand new replacements, even if the ones I put on it were second hand. Price was cheaper than anyone else for a non-modified machine too.

Unfortunately when I changed to the XJ6 mid-term they weren't too favourable with the price - almost twice as much as my (new) current insurer. When it's up next year I'll give them a call and see if they can do anything for me with the discount :)

Hello,

Firstly, sorry for the delay in getting on here, we have now sorted the techincal glitches!

My name is Lee and I'll be here to monitor the forum from now on. I've worked for Bikesure Insurance Services for several years now. In that time I've been employed within the Bikesure quotation department and have assisted many club and forum members obtain competitive cover.

I will be taking a more active role in the forum and hope to be on here every day, if not every other day, to answer any questions or enquiries you may have.

So if any members on here have any general insurance queries, I'll be more than happy to try and help. Any advice will be totally impartial.

If you would like a quotation from us, I will have someone call you with our best rate. Hopefully the best you'll get!

As always, feel free to PM me or post on here with any questions, you know where I am.

Lee

Hi Lee,

I know that insurance is a complicated business but it may help some if you could give a brief overview of some of the types of policies you do and any benefits.

For example; do you do multiple bike policies? Do your classic policies come with extras like recovery (just been recovered on one of my bikes)? do you do insurance on frame numbers for all of us working on imported, non UK registered, bikes?

Information like that would be of interest to me, at least.

Good Morning,

Firstly, yes we do offer multi-bike policies, in fact multi bike policies are an area of insurance that is working very well so the rates have gone against the trend and come down. We offer modern multi, classic multi and modern classic multi. With regard to classic multi's they can come with recovery, both UK and European or just UK. We also have a classic multi scheme with 0 excess. spare parts are also covered for upto £500 worth of theft cover in the garage.

We can insure on frame numbers, and in some cases there is no time limit that the bike needs to be registered in. Agreed Value is also offered on both classic and modern schemes, and in some cases is automatically agreed on classics of a value of £2500 and under.

We also have specialist modified schemes as well, this includes modified classics.

Hope this answers everything, any further questions, give me a shout.

Cheers

Lee

Hi,

I've had a look at the bike.......firstly VERY nice! Secondly, yes we can insure you and the frame would not be an issue. If you want to PM me a contact, I can give you a call.

Cheers
