good luck with any dealings with the dvla.

i had a 8 month relationship with them when i renewed my licence and it came back with no motorbike entitlement, dispite the fact i had my army discharge book with all my test dates for bike, car hgv and specialist vechicles, they would not accept this as evidence, after 8 months of banging my head against the wall and having past my test in 1967 i had to do a cbt and take my test again. :o

my licence is still not right and all of a sudden i have an added entitlement to drive a tank as long as it is on military business, where the fuck that has suddenly come from god knows. every time i rang them i got a different answer or excuse even my MP got involved at one point and the ministry of defence could not get any sense out of them.

so once again good luck.

Best advice i have heard on the subject of lost entitlements is to photcopy your licence and get a reputable solicitor to witness and sign if before you send it in, but even a police motorcycle mechanic lost his bike entitlement, and even the chief constable could not persuade em too give it back too him he had to retake his test, the other option is too tell you cannot find your licence when you go to renew and get a new one sent out and make sure it is correct and if not you can say you have found it and prove em wrong

I hope you got things sorted Goff.

As always, be careful of rumour, hearsay, speculation and layman's law. Statute is all that counts.

Have you checked the road traffic act or driver and vehicle regulations? If the question is about a vehicle or your licence history - or you need to check and have a record of your licence before you send it off to the DVLA - Then you may need this info Here .

If they need a reason, as they suggest, tell them that it is the law that they supply the information. I am going to send off for my licence info and though I begrudge the fiver, I think it is money well spent.

Driver and Vehicle Licencing Authority

They are Government employees who are supposed to look after the information on vehicles and driving licence holders. Recently they seem to have "lost" some information, although they deny it. Have a look Here

I am not sure if this bears any relevance to Goffs original post. Sorry Goff!!
