Hey guys n gals. Im new to this site and pretty new to biking in general having only passed my test in August. My mates have bikes and as usual i was the last to take it up, but never mind, sure this bike makes up for it.

Its a graphite 2008 model, here it is the day i picked it up:

The bike is now fitted with a genuine Yamaha double bubble screen, tank pad and single seat cowl, R&G tail tidy with smaller plate, mini indicators front and rear, Akra Megafone silencer, Power Commander and a BMC air filter. I have also removed the pillion pegs, does anybody know where i can get blanking plates from?

On the order sheet is a full carbon race fairing and Galespeed Type C wheels in pearl white. Also buying a full race Akra exhaust, however will be fitting the Megafone silencer to this and selling the Hexagon can to my mate who has a gorgeous blue 2008 R6.

I'll get some pics up of how the bike looks now when i get home from offshore, as i only fitted the parts the day before i came back to work, and havent managed to have a shot yet:(

This is my 1st bike and have to say i love every second i get out on it, it now has 1300 fun filled miles on it.

Let me know your thoughts and opinions guys, am i taking the bike the right way mod wise?

Ricky

Welcome to the site Ricky - thts a very lovely bike you have there.

Be careful on her and take it easy until you have got to know her and what she is capable of and what your limits are.

Nice bike mate. Almost identical to mine.

Just a quick question tho - is that number plate legal and where did u get it?

Cheers

Oh and by the way i got my pillion peg blanks from here

Hi mate, thanks, you got pics of your bike on here?

As far as the plate being legal goes, i dont know, id probably say no, but ive had police behind me and havent been pulled over for it yet, dont think they are too fussy to be honest as the text is still clearly visible. I ordered it from a website called http://www.craigsplates.co.uk/order/plate.php And its the "off road square 6' by 4 '". Its under show plates, not road legal ,so i guess that would actually answer your question  But as i said, ive had no problems.

Cheers for the link mate, i'll have a look.

Im gonna change the tyres on the 6 in March when i put it in for a service, the rear is goosed already at 1300 miles  Anybody got any suggestions as i personally dont rate the Dunlop Q's that came as standard.

Also, what you guys reckon the 6 is worth private sale? You know the mods, 1300 miles, full service, 2 brand new tyres, no marks, very very passionatily looked after, im a huge 6 fan, the bike has asked for nothing, but received lots

Id love 6750ono but would this be a tad high, ecspecially in the current economic market? I personally feel the bike is worth every penny of 6750, but its a buyers market im sure.

Keep it forever . Its one of the best looking things i have ever seen .

Cheers mate ;)

Its just i got offered 6k for it on a p/x, as i may be persuaded into an '09 R1 when its launched. Just depends how good it is come the test ride. Might just hang onto the 6 this year tho and change next year, but always good to keep the options open.

Hey, Nice bike my friend good choice! ;) similar cosmetic mod's to what iv done on mine bar iv waited till i run the engine in 3000 miles before fitting any engine modifications this month(was advised by tuning specialist).... Iv had this discussion about 'Upgrading' to the R1 on here and they pointed out some obvious things which i expected and makes sense.... I hope you don't think I'm been patronizing when i say this as its just a friendly opinion.... :) ! Iv been riding just over a year with 10 years off road experience and lots of track days over the summer and i personally think moving up to a thou especially a '09 R1 would be a silly and unnecessary move for my ability and riding style (plus an '08 R6 is an absolute dream machine around corners).... Not saying your not competent enough to handle the R1 and i don't know how much general riding experience you've had in the past but a move to a thou with 6 months experience is asking for trouble in my eyes :) You and your pals should have a trip down to the north east for a ride out theirs a few of us on R6, R6, CBR6RR, ZX-9R, Blade, Speed Triple.... See you soon!

Michelin Pilot 2CT, no question. (Or the Pirelli Corsa III's, basically a similar dual compound tire).

Great looking bike btw!
