  1. I'd agree with a 400 restricted, my mate has an RVF and that restricted still runs really well, i had my 2000 R6 restricted and it didnt idle to well but still pulled a treat, dont de-restrict it and pull the throttle wide open though because the power goes above 33 at about 5-6k. I would defiantely go for a 400, thats what i should have done, if you do go for a 600 make sure the carbs are cleaned and balanced before you fit the kit

    My R6

It's just a quick tail tidy a made from carbon fibre and thanks batifan, its an akrapovic evolution system that i cut down and welded up an overlap to fit the racefit to it. It sounds exactly like the gp bikes, absolutely awesome n gives you chills down your spine when riding! Corrie if you pm me with your email address i'll get some instructions knocked up for you and crack some pictures in so you can see what to do

    My R6

Hi mate, i've converted my r6 to the r1 usd forks and and transforms the handling, looks gorgeous aswell, quite easy to do if you've got the right bits, as far as i know you could use the newer r6 forks but you'd have the issue of changing the front wheel to that same year as the forks cos the axles, spacers and wheel fitment arnt the same whereas the 5eb r6 front kit is the same as the 4xv r1 apart from the yokes obviously, heres them fitted to mine i only needed the bottom yoke as i had a billet ally custom top yoke made, i can write you up some instructions of what to do and what you need if you like, got some pictures of the stages of mine aswell if you wana see
  4. Hi there mate, no it wont be an ECU problem, they dont adapt it just runs from a set ignition map triggered by the crankshaft. I never had any problems when i took the restrictors out of mine, have you made sure the carburetors are sat firmly down into there rubbers? if there not you'd definately notice it the way you are, some times they can take some force to really push down properly.
  5. Thats unreal! how can he still be with her?!?!?!?!
  6. Well the bike has a full naked carbon fibre fairing that i had to import from america but want to get the tank and single seat cowl to match by wrapping them as i cant make a carbon fuel tank! If you give me your email address i can send you some pictures of the bike and the tank as i did try to wrap it myself and it didn't work basically then we can discuss what you thinks best
  7. Wow those bits look great, i did a composite module for my degree course and found it real difficult! i've tried doing carbon bits for myself and they haven't turned out that well! you always going to be on this forum because im sure i'll want some parts doing soon, can you also wrap existing parts?
  8. Thats a very good way of explaining it, its called the big bang as when you hear it its like one big bang as theres only 90 degrees between two firing then a wait of 270 degrees
  9. I'll always give a nod but usually not to a scooter rider, the above the helmet open and closed hand for 'police close' is something i always do and even find myself doing it when in the car! i have had car drivers flash to let me know there's police ahead, there is some that are aware of bikes
  10. Well it could be either then, if it was an older model it would be unlikely to find EGR on it, id quickly av it out and see if it actually moves anything, if it just looks like a valve to allow flow through then its EGR
  11. Lovin that, how long did it take to polish the wheels up like that!!!
  12. Hi there mate, sounds like a good buy, if it hasnt been thrashed to roughly and the engine sounds good with a good service history it will be fine, the tappets wear quicker on the 600 yamahas than most others so if theres light tapping from the cylinder head then at some point you mite want to get them checked but should go on for another 15-20,000 miles no worries
  13. Hi mate, that justs looks like an EGR valve, the engine will re'use the exhaust gases to lower the emissions when the valve opens but i dont open when your pinnin the throttle and need fresh mixture, it'll run fine without it i should think, just block the pipe up or route it somewhere out the way. It could be a diaphram for somthing tho, could do with havin a good look at it and see if it actuates anything, if it does could be important, what years the bike?
  14. Hey mate, i would say they would work very well if the guy thats tuning it is good, flatsides are quite difficult to set up well but when they work there excellent, i use Keihin FCR's on a 1100zzr engine in a radical clubsport that i help run n they do a hell of a job. Mite have a higher idle speed as well, are you using the bike on the road?
  15. Thanks, the ninjas me step dads run around, just had the bike dynoed again at 109hp at the wheel with my custom intake system, racefit growler and carb rejet, she sounds alot throutier with the new jets, desperate to get out on the road again, im gettin withdrawels not bein able to ride
  16. When you attach a battery do you have all ignition lights etc. come on? is it literally only the spark plugs on the electrical side that isnt working?
  17. When bleeding a completely dry system ive always let gravity feed it, if you just fill the resevoir and open the bleed nipples, just make sure you have a tube on the end so it doesnt just poor everywhere when it gets to the nipple!
  18. I've just been to start me bike after finishing some bits but she hasn't been ran in bout 3 months so i knew the battery was going to be dead but i hooked it up to a mates bike with some jump leads and everything did seem ok but first of all when i pushed the bike along with just the ignition on the speedo was reading differnet speeds and then when i started it which it did fine, its reading no rpm, the oil/coolant light is flashing and the red diagnostic light on the rpm gauge flashes slowly. Now i know the rpm is working as i have just adjusted it on the TPS because i've just fitted new carbs, the oil level is fine. The bike will run fine but after a few mins the revs rise and then the bike dies and theres no battery power at all, i have done no electrical work at all, theres only been new carbs go and and a few plugs unplugged then hooked back up again, could it just be a completely duff battery causing all the symptoms? Any help much appreciated!
  19. Hey everyone, i haven't posted any pictures of me bike before as its always in pieces but i do have pictures of most of the stages ive done, its taken a year or so to get to this point and more money than i even want to think about, its also part of my university project where i've made my own intake system - airpipes, airbox etc. hoping to gain power in mid range, its running 95.5hp @12500rpm completely standard, anyway heres the spec so far: Hand made airpipes Custom airbox BMC air filter Carb vented to the front of the airpipes R1 forks with ohlins springs Billet ally top yoke by KAD Titanium race spec pro bolts everywhere PFM SBK 6 pot calipers with narrow track iron rotors Ohlins rear shock Resprayed wheels Carbon fibre fuel tank(not finished) DID X-ring chain Gilles GP lite clipons Factory pro ignition advancer(will be fitted after uni project) Fab radiator guard Rare carbon hugger Full carbon fairing Carbon mudguard Goodridge race kit front brakelines Hand made carbon front horn and hose bracket Hand made carbon exhaust hanger Hand made carbon tail tidy LED indicators R&G crash bungs, upper and lower Modified akra evolution headers Racefit growler exhaust Custom decals Braided fuel hose Completely stripped, cleaned and resprayed suspension parts/links Carbon front fairing bracket maybe some other bits i missed out and more to come, heres a few pictures of it now
  20. Hi there, the discs definitely are different from 03 onwards but i think the front axles are the same, at least upto 05 as they still use convential forks cause 06+ have USD's. the rear axles are different, i did want to upgrade to the newer wheels on my 2000 R6 but i didnt want to go through it all that hassle. Im not 100% sure on all this but i don't think its worth pursueing! I decided to wait n get ally Dymag wheels instead
  21. I have to agree with the Growler, got one on my R6 and it is a beauty, incredibly well made and it's like pickin up a bag of crisps, just modified a akra evolution system to take the racefit for better breathing and it sounds even better, like a pure breed GP bike, its like music to my ears!
  22. It depends on alot of things mate, your weight, the way you ride, how your bikes set up, you should really just go out and try some tyres yourself, get a different pair each year, i run bridgestones on mine with a pretty hard track setup, the BT014's i had were imense but you don't get many miles out of the so i went for the brand new sports tourers this year which are excellent but havent tested them to the limit yet, if you want full on grip then try the BT016's, the GP riders say there a massive improvement on the 014's and have awesome grip, im gettin them for my next pair!
