  1. Hi Everyone, I have a 1992 DT 175 that is pretty much the same as 81 UK model. I have a leak coming from my auto lube pump and have not had a chance to check it out as yet. When I emptied the 2 stroke tank while restoring the bike, I did not bleed the air out of the line when I refilled the tank. I have ridden roughly 1,000km since then. Could this have damaged the pump? Regards, Matthew
  2. I can't believe it wanted to pop up! I give mine full throttle in 1st and it starts dying at 6k while rattling its guts out...Maybe I need to take it to the shop for a good tune.
  3. Thanks guys. I adjusted the front brake last night and it is working alot better now. I probably just need some more practice on adjusting.
  4. Hi All. Have benn thinking of changing my front brakes to disk or maybe bigger drums. I am not confident in the current bracking power if I need to hit them for a quick stop. Does anyone know of a simple swap over?
  5. Had me freaked out enough not to think of the obviouse.
  6. Spot on Dirty! Cant believe I didnt think of that. Thanks mate.
  7. G'day everyone. I had an oil leak from behind my gearbox sproket because I had not done the nut up enough (didnt realise untill the oil light came on yesterday). After tightening up the nut I put some more oil in it and took it for a ride. Was good for a while but then the oil light came on again . I checked the level when I got home and it was good. Can anyone think of why the oil light may still be coming on?
  8. I had similar problems when I took my DT175 out of the shed after 10 years. The clutch was pretty well stuck. I gave it a good push in neutral, jumped on the bike and then put it into first gear while rolling. Unlocked itself in a few goes.
  9. Sorted. Thanks heaps Tone. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
  10. Thats is possible. Will check it out when I get home. Thanks, I had no idea the oil light should be on with the neutral light. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
  11. I am taking the forks to a local mechanic tomorrow because I want to make sure it is done right. The bike is running alright once I get it warmed up. But when I first kick it over I have to rock the bike back and forth to keep it going. Could it be the fuel level? Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
  12. Hi Ladies and Gents. For some reason when I change my bike into gear and the neutral light goes off, so does the speedo backlight. Have done a bit of head scratching but not sure why it is doing this. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
  13. That is insane man!! Can't wait to see it finished.
  14. To my knowledge you adjust the jets by purchasing a set of them and find out which works best. check your manual to find out what size the jets are as standard. Start with the biggest jet and work your way down. As far as the exhaust goes... no idea mate.
  15. Still trying to find a screw with the same thread. One thing I noticed while playing around is there is oil coming out of the exhaust. If I hold my hand near the end of it and then give it a rev, it will easily cover my palm in oil. I am under the assumption that this should not happen. Would that be correct?
  16. Yes there are . That sounds like a great idea. Thanks! Let you know how it goes.
  17. Thanks Airhead for all of your help. When I turn the allen screw, the damper rod also turns. Will just go and buy a set of T-Handles and hope for the best
  18. Was the same with the choke out. Had a few dramas with it today. It has seemed to work itself out! Took it for a little spin and is getting better each time. Now just have to take my front forks apart to change the oil seals. Does anyone know what size T-Handle is needed to hold onto the damper rod on the inside of the tube?
  19. Hi Guys. Bike is runnning well now until i try and give it some gas in first gear. I can get it into second but it will only run on idle. I have let it run for a while and taken it for a soft run in first but it will not improve. Can anyone help me on this?
  20. Ok. I cleaned the carb and it is idling well. But cuts out once it gets hot. I think I have an overheating problem. Once it has cooled down it seems to run fine again. Any suggestions?
  21. Hi Everyone, I have had this bike since i was a kid. It has been sitting in my dad's shed for about 10 years now. I got my licence last week and want to fix it up so that I can use it to get to work. I got it started the other day and it blew a lot of smoke for about 5min (hardly any smoke after that). It then cut out and would not idle or start without the choke outt. I flushed out the tank, pulled apart and cleaned the carby (it does not have any major marks on the internals (the "O" ring on the air mixer has a small chunk out of it). I was getting alot of fuel leaking out of the overflow pipe, but readjusted the float and it is not doing it as much now. Also have a brand new air filter that has been oiled plus put new rings on the piston. So. It will start with the choke but then slowly cuts out. If I add throttle, it stops straight away. One out of 12 times I can get it to run and use the throttle and rev it to the top. I have seated the air screw and then turned it out 1.5 turns (as the service manual says) & played with the idle screw. None of that seems to make mutch of a difference though. I have put alot of hours in respraying and cleaning up the bike and can't wait to get it on the road. Awaiting your knowledgable replies.
  22. Hi All, I have just bought a new shock online but it does not have the preloader or spring with it. I have taken off the spring but am having trouble getting the preloader off the old shock. Does anyone know how to take it off?
