  2. Cheers people!!! I am such a tart when it comes to the bike as i love the look of carbon bits on a bike!
  3. I have now posted pics of my R6 in the gallery, feel free to check it out with the new can on!
  4. Hi all, Has anyone done this?? Is it an easy job and does it make the bike look a lot better??? I am thinking of doing this but dont want it to become a hassle when i want to take someone on the back as i dont think the other half will be too chuffed if i have to spend hours doing it to take her out on it!!!! =P Cheers!!!! Matt
  5. Hi all, Anyone know of any places to get some decent carbon parts for the 2003-2005 R6??? Im thinking carbon fenders, fairing, exhaust hangers etc?!?! Any ideas anyone?? Cheers!!!!!
  6. Cheers mate, Still want to do a few things like tail tidy and lots of carbon!! Hopefully should be looking a lot better in a month or so!!
  7. Hi people, Here is my R6 i've been meaning to post some pics of it but havent got around to it. This is my daily ride and i love the daily ride too!!! lol What you think??
  8. Sorry to hear that! You are ok that is the main thing, i know that doesnt seem like much when your bike is a mangled mess but keep your chin up you will be back on two wheels before you know it im sure!
  9. Hi and Welcome!! Firstly good choice of bike! It is my first big bike and i love it as it is very responsive and apart from a slight lack of power up to about 6 or 8k is an amazing bike. As far as i am aware the 99-02 models are quite twitchy at the rear and have been known to be more of a handful. In 03-05 there was the shape i have, however the 05 model has a few tweaks such as USD forks and floating discs. The 06 - onwards model is as you can buy new from the dealer. These are aparently not so good on the road as on the track as they have slightly stiffer shocks etc (I cant say never ridden on only going on reviews!) If i was you i would go for as newer bike as you can afford. Prob the 05 model for everyday use or the )6 onwards model if i had the money to buy new!!! Either way take it easy and learn the bike bit by bit as they arent slow in a straight line! Hope that helps and im sure other will have their own bits to add!!!
  10. Hi all, Ive been thinking of putting some race decals on the bike as ive seen a few bikes mainly my mates GSXR750 with a beautiful kit on it and was wondering what people thought if putting a decal kit on a bike and if they had any links or pics of some good kits to suit my R6. Cheers people i appreciate the help! Matt
  11. That bike is beautiful!!! No other way of putting it!!! Spot on with the exhaust too!!!
  12. Hi all, It has been bugging me in the UK it is illegal to have a race can fitted to a bike. What is the difference between a race can and a road can and what makes a race can illegal?? I know this seems a simple question but didnt know if it was just the noise factor or something more?
  13. Hi all, Anyone going to this?? I should be there on my R6!!! I just hope the weather holds out!!!! I went to brands hatch for the opener and it was a fantastic day, hopefully this should be too!
  14. I dont thinnk i could get bored of the R6 its an amazing bit of kit. I have already done 6,500miles on it in 5 months! I definatly think i am going to do many many more on it as i could never get bored of it! And i agree with the view that theres no feeling like two wheelin and if bikes are treated as pride and joys and looked after properly there should be nothing stopping them going forever!
  15. Yesterday i fitted a Akrapovic Carbon slip on to my R6 2004 model and not only does it look amazing it sounds the dogs!! Again i was in the same situation and was open to ideas and not worried about the power gain as i know they are quick enough!! Will load a pic for you soon!
  16. I often see this as a strange subject for bikes. I dont understand why a bike with 30,000 miles is seen as a bad thing if it has been looked after, services by a dealer and is most importantly straight! Cars now do 100,000 fine without issues! I use my bike almost everyday for work and i do about 80miles a day to and from work and although yes i know it wil be worth less but surely the enjoyment from getting out there on a top class bike and enjoying it is better than worrying about the mileage on it each time. And wouldnt a bike thats used more often be ridden more concervativly as they need the reliability out of it rather than tearing the nuts off it every odd occasion you get to ride it?!? I know im going to get eaten alive for this as people have their own views but i was just thinking it was an interesting topic to discuss. Cheers, Matt
  17. Hi all, Sorry to drag up an old thread but just wanted to thank people for their advise!! I now have a carbon Akrapovic exhaust on its way to me and hopefully should be fitted for the weekend!! I'll get some pics up the minute its fitted! Next on the list, a tail tidy!
  18. Got to keep positive the weather will be good, the weather will be good!!! I cant take the car to a bike race thats just not cricket! lol
  19. I must agree as i feel that this is pure stupidity to add these sorts of devices on bikes. This morning on the way to work a car didnt check their blind spot before pulling out, now if they would have hit me now would i have been another statistic when in truth it is the complacency of the car driver in not checking before they move. Ok i am aware that the acceleration of bikes nowadays is far superior to cars (proven when a Fireblade minced a Porsche 911 GT3 on tv) and that bikers can become unaware of their own speed of acceleration but why is it bikers that are the guilty party. Insurance is both limiting on cars and bike however much more on cars and i feel that if they were to limit bikes the same should apply to cars as surely that would then only be fair and 'safer' to restrict both?? I think i'll step off my soap box now as im just repeating the points put across by other, i just thought i'd show my support and agree with the feelings of most people on here regarding this! Matt
  20. Anyone else heading down to Brands Hatch this easter weekend to enjoy watching the opening round of the british superbike championship??? I will be there on the R6!!!
  21. I'm heading down to Brands Hatch for the British Superbikes! Should be a good race especially with Chris Walker back in BSB!!
  22. cool cool, I will definatly have to make a trip over that way for a good old tootle out on the R6! Anyone know of roads that are dreams to get out on?
  23. Reading this is a concern as i was not aware of this. I have an 04 year R6 and is there anything that i can do to get this checked. I have not experienced any problems so far but i'd rather not take a risk on a bike like this! Cheers and thanks in advance, Matt
  24. I never said my bike was a 2005 year bike Section 8. I just said it was 05 plated. I am fully aware that its an 04 bike on an 05 plate. however for exhaust purposes as far as i was aware 03, 04, and 05 R6's all use the same can which is where my query is. I have spotted a carbon can co exhaust which are hand made with removeable baffles etc. its finished in carbon fibre and am thinking that if i can get it for the right price i will have that. I just didnt know if anyone had had any previous experience with them as an exhaust and company.
