  1. Hi all. I am fairly new to biking and am having a concience dilemma. I bought my stuff at my one stop shop Hein Gericke which is not too far from me and the clothes seem to get pretty good press so i got myself one of their retro style leather jackets and have just bought a pair of their leather trousers the pro sports ones. I am a 36" waist and when I tried the 36" waist on they fitted but the salesman said leather trousers stretch up to 10% and as such should go for the 34" ones. I got the 34" waist ones and wearing them on the bike has been horrific as the crotch seems to restrict you straddling the tank(I have an R6) and then when you try and get your feet onto the pegs it is almost impossible as it is such an effort as the troser legs stretch panels bunch up and seem to cut off circulation to the calves etc. I took these back to the shop and asked for a 36 as I just could not get on with the other ones. The guy insisted they will stretch and should persevere but to be honest I can barely ride with them on and got the 36" waist ones anyway. Have I done the right thing as I just could not get on with these. The 36" ones armour sits in all the right places and are a little bit loose but pull tight in all the right places when on the bike. Have I done the right thing or should I have stuck it out in the hope they would give a bit. Please any suggestions or lessons learnt through experience will be greatly appreciated.

You can do an hpi check and fill in the engine number and frame number and omit the reg and it should hopefully come back with the age and status of the bike and possibly the reg it used to have. Some hpi checks require the reg to do the search but there are a few that will use basic information but you might have to go through a few to find the ones that do. Alternatively if you write to the dvla they are pretty helpfull and will be able to help depending on how busy they are. Good luck.
  3. Hi guys. After initially posting a question about which bike to get I finally got mine last week wednesday. I only managed to take her out for a ride to work yesterday and what a ride it was fantastic. (it is a 2004 yamaha r6 with 7500 on the clock). As I was riding on the dual carriage way and giving it a decent amount of revs gearchanging was no problem at all but when going down a 30mph stretch after pulling away I changed through the gears but going from 3rd to 4th I pulled the clutch in as per usual and lifted the gear lever with my foot and it clicked as if to engage but when I let the clutch out it just reved as though I had put it into neutral. I pulled in the clutch and had another go and it did the same not allowing me to change up but it would change down no problem. This happened a number of times but it would change to 4th if I gave it more revs in 3rd. A friend suggested the selector might not be rotating all the way round as my gearchange might need more rotation of the gearselector and suggested when going home to lift the gearlever using my leg(leg moving up while using foot to change obviously) and to see if this made a difference as he had a similar issue with his triumph daytona 675 and it went away with the adjustment of the gearlever angle(moving it down). I tried this but to no avail. Has anyone had a similar issue or am I just not reving it enough for it to engage properly. Thanking you in anticipation. Andy.
  4. Hi all. I am new to the forum having only joined a few moments ago. I have passed my direct access test this month and am after buying a YAMAHA yzf R6. There are a lot of models out there for sale and they were produced over many years. I have been trying to search the forums and bike magazine sites for reviews on the R6 as I am trying to find out what is the best year to buy or to avoid. I know they changed things like graphics and frame colour etc in 2003 but could someone please suggest a year bike that is considered as the one to have. Thanking you all in advance Andy.
