  1. i'd bet a dt could blast past it at 90mph on the back wheel though
  2. one of these mate? yep, nice bikes 8)
  3. cool 8) good on you! there's plenty of help here if/when you need it. i'm by no means a bike genius but i'll do my best, and i'm sure the others will too. bit of advise....if you have a problem with your bike, try the easy, simple, things first. eg try a new set of plugs in your bike, try giving it a damn good run etc.. leave having to strip the carbs till last. there's a chance it might not be that
  4. you could just change the jets yes, but it'll be cheaper to clean them all out. get a manual for the bike, strip the carburetors, checking where everything goes and the condition they are in, and soak the jets in carb cleaner or suchlikes. i have used vinegar with good results make sure all the little holes in the jets are free from obstruction, debris etc... and rebuild the carbs to the spec in the manual. you might want to check the diaphrams of the carbs too. make sure there arent any holes/rips in them. once done, and everything back together you should get them balanced. jeez, i'm confusing myself now any bike shops close to you?
  5. hi, yeah it could be the pilot jets blocked up a bit. has the bike been out of use for quite a while? petrol can 'go off' and gum up the carburetors. the xj600 i just bought is a fine example of this. cleaned out the carbs and all was good 8) another thing......you arent changing up too early are you? just that you're new to bikes an all. might wanna try new spark plugs in it too
  6. nice one mate 8) best of luck with selling it

  8. you're right alex, alot less hassle and not as dear as you think to just get fitters to do it for you. too many times have i went through it all, tyre on air in, and i've nipped the bloody tube or something. get your folks to bung you a couple of quid  warn them of the dangers of you fitting the tyre
  9. my dads xv535 is shaft drive. he loves it!! alot less hassle. i'm quite keen on it too. lots of advantages. as you said pete, you'd think more bikes would have it now. the only gripe i've ever noticed is that it seems rather clunky, it being the only shaftie i have rode i have nothing to compare it with though. quite fancy a xj900 next 8)
  10. a small village called portpatrick. it's near stranraer. not too hilly where i am, but fairly close to me are some real quiet hilly roads like that. i like these roads best
  11. anyone ever rode one? if so, what are they like? i saw this really smart matt black ccm the other day, it looked a total blast to ride 8) not much comfort though i'd imagine...
