    Binned it!

Yeah I was thinking the same. Will try not to enjoy myself quite so much in future, without concentrating at least!
  2. I thought pressure was bad for seals etc.?

    Binned it!

Took my pride and joy to an abandoned outdoor car park near me today for some practice before I sit my CBT. Clocked up 10 miles in the sun, going round and round, it was fantastic.... Right up until the point where I was having so much fun I didn't notice quite how fast I was approaching the wall, had a mini-panic and finally dropped her! Thankfully I was only doing about 10mph when I went down, so there was only some minor scuffing done to the bike, as well as the leg trapped under it. Just thought I'd let you all join in the laughs at my first spill...

    Hood Jeans

Just took delivery of my Hood ND4 jeans, along with the armour inserts - very impressed with the build quality, they are very long for a pair of jeans but I'm assuming that's so that when you're sitting on the bike they're not halfway up your leg. Anyway, I thought maybe some of you might have been thinking about getting a pair of armoured jeans, if you want to know anything about them let me know. Cheers JK
  5. Had a crack on it yesterday evening in a private car park belonging to a friend, big smiles all round. Nearly had a YouTube moment when I underestimated the power of the front brake and nearly headbutted the speedo, but other than that it was great. One quick thing you might be able to help me with though - I'm not sure if it's due to my height (6'3) or just a feature of the bike, but I cannot engage the rear brake comfortably when my feet are resting on the pegs; I have to actively raise my right foot an inch or two and come over to reach it. Is this normal, or is there any way I can adjust the height of the pegs/pedals to suit my height? Cheers guys, JK
  6. Not into sports bikes myself but a friend has a triumph tt600 which I like looks-wise far more than the angular digital watch-looking things that seem to be made these days. No idea what its like to ride though.
  7. I only just got my bike and gear but thought I'd join in: Marushin c139 3/4 helmet Held textile cruiser jacket Hood ND4 jeans with armour inserts Highway No 1 short biker boots And some bog standard leather gloves... And a balaclava and some waterproofs for when it's cold or wet. Might be overkill for a bike that tops out at 28mph but better safe than sorry
  8. Thanks I'm glad you said that, it's not easy to choose a first bike when you've got people telling you that anything less than a 600 isn't a proper bike Yeah I see a lot riding past my way, some nice roads around here for it by all accounts. Shame I can't ride it for another 2 weeks.. Thanks all, happy riding JK
  9. I've got it chained to the wall of my house via an iron drainpipe mate, but it would just be sods law if someone decided to relieve me of it while I was at work one day. I woukd just rather it was insured if possible.
  10. Chaps, I bought my first bike a few days ago, with a view to taking my CBT at the end of the month (delays in my provisional license arriving). I got some quotes off a few insurance sites, and for obvious reasons my insurance policy comes down by about 50% once I pass my CBT. So with this in mind, I phoned the insurance company who told me that a fully comp policy for the year would cost me £231 once I pass my CBT, however there's going to be a gap of 2-3 weeks where my bike is sitting on my driveway uninsured... Does anyone know of a company who will insure my bike against theft only, sitting off the road for a couple of weeks? I have found a couple of sites that do insurance by the day but they only do fully comp and they're quoting me £200 for the month which seems fairly silly. My other option is taking out a policy that gives me 30 days to pass my CBT, but that's £245 for the year and it's only TPFT... Any ideas/help greatly appreciated, Cheers John
  11. Weybridge, so only down the road. Played rugby in Esher a few times...
  12. Chris are you in the Surrey area? Think I read on another post that you are... I just bought a 125 'Star, 2001. It's completely standard atm but I'm looking to make some improvements to it, pipes being one of them... was wondering if you'd be interested in having a chat? I'm not sure if I can get pm's yet don't know the forum rules but let me know via here if you're interested. Cheers Johnny
  13. Cheers guys I live in Surrey but I'll be commuting to London on weekdays so if you see someone wobbling down the A316 on a Dragstar be sure to give me a wave
  14. Hello all, New member here, have just bought my first bike after much deliberation - decided in the end to go the sensible route and so I am starting with a Dragstar 125. It's a great-looking bike considering its engine size imo, I'm not too fussed about speed at this stage I'd rather get to where I'm going in one piece. Anyway would be nice to chat to any other Dragstar owners out there, will keep you all updated as to my progress. Cheers Johnny
