  1. I don't know lads, not one of ya mentioned the legend Les Kellet!!
  2. I have Bridgestone Trailwing - 41 90/90 - 21 54S on the front and Dunlop Trailmax 65T 130/80 - 17 (you can get these in 18") on the rear of my XT600, on the DT125 enduro/on road wheels I use DUNLOP D605F 3.00x21 51P on the front, PIRELLI PROFESSIONAL MT43 4.00x18 64P for the rear, good for on and off road those, Another decent tyre I've used in the past, and very good for a budget tyre, are the GOLDEN BOY TRAIL TIRE SR244.

    seized motor

If its seized with rust try Coca-Cola, its a trick we used to use on heat/rusted stuff in the boilers on the power stations, something to do with the phosphoric acid in it, see my project thread concerning seized up swing arm bushes.
  4. Came across this Dirty, thought it may interest you mate. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lG6O5lvhm8&feature=related heres their website http://www.customcre...hrome-p-32.html Admittedly the kit looks expensive to buy, but maybe find someone that actually does this ttype of chroming might be cheaper, it certainly looks the finish you're after.
  5. Maybe not the mudguard then but how about the fork stems? And its Diego Mills plays for Exeter City
  6. Seems ok DT502001, not really had it off road mind, but normal road crud comes off no probs, sprayed on my other wheels spokes , they came out much better aswell. Tell ya what Dirty, don't know if it wll be any better than spray for your mudguard, but I bought some FABLON chrome vinyl on a roll other week, more of a mirror finish than the spray, but possibly a pig to fit, I don't know, but cost a quid for a 450mm x 1000mm roll.
  7. HYCOTE, Chrome Look, I got mine from my local Trago Mills for £3.59 a can, Halfords will probably be about £6 quid I reckon. Same tin as is on my bench in second pic.
  8. Used it when renovating my rear shock, came out ok as you can see in the pic, Cant use lacquer over it mind, as it dulls it completely
  9. A bit of an update on the bike, as people who have been following this project thread will know, when I finally finished the bike and got it back on the road, I was having an intermittant problem with it just cutting out on me, or bogging down then picking up again, other than this the bike was running sweet, well I'd swapped carbs thinking it was a fuel/carb problem, but still didn't seem to cure it, so took it to Brian Lorams in Newton Abbot for him to have a look at it. after 5 minutes of him taking it out on a road test, he sussed out straight away what the problem was, it was semi-seizing, due to the piston expanding whilst getting hot, and hadn't had enough meat taken out the barrel from when it had the over-bore, so he's honed it out a tad more, put it all back together, reckons the spark is slightly a bit weaker than it should be too, so have taken in a new coil to bang on it see if that sorts it. hopefully will be picking it back up today, all being well, the only downside to all this, is having to run the bloody thing in, all over again.
  10. Some cracking 2nd hand prices there Andy, £20 for the 3mb head, and you sold your other one last year for £80 was it? lol
  11. Aye could be an older carb, and can now see its a 28mm carb, I was just trying to point out that the Italian TDR, TZR, DTR, went with a Dellorto, as oposed to the standard Mikunis.and that one in the pic is deffo a Dellorto.
  12. One of my lads mates made an offer on it couple of months ago, now whether he was spouting it out of his 'arris I don't know, but he asked if £2850 would buy it, he ended up buying a new cbr 125 instead.and another lad chucked an offer of £2500 before that. And no Ryan, you're right mate, I wouldn't sell it, same as I won't sell my XT600, or the XT125 when I get round to doing it up. I can kick myself with the cars I've had and sold in the past, now seeing how much they're worth, I'm not saying the bikes would be worth as much in 20 or so years, but a damn sight easier to store away. Andy, not got the Ebay advert but will try and find it, a powdercoated DT frame, and I mean just the frame nothing else, was on Ebay for buy now £500, now we all know it isn't worth £500, but thats how daft DT stuff is getting these days.
  13. lol this is just the stuff I wrote down, stainless bolts/fixings, spray and some other second hand stuff I didn't even put down, it can be a fair bit expensive but you get back out only what ya put into it. oh aye the initial cost of the bike was £650. 14. Thats the 32mm Dellorto carb Andy, came as standard on the TDR Belgardas mate.

    people power

He's still as mad as a bag of frogs, but now and again spoke some sense.
  16. Think about it Andy, normally the powervalve is just missed by the standard size piston/rings, so the bigger the bore, the bigger the piston, but the powervalve is still in the same place, so unless you shave some off the powervalve, the piston/rings will hit it. and yes I had to have it all done for mine, although to be fair, I'm on maximum re-bore. I literally took the whole engine to Cornish Motorcycles for them to do the top end properly, thats the difference between using a good engineering company and a good motorcycle engineer, the engineering company will re-bore/hone to your specifications you ask them to do, whereas a good motorcycle engineer, will have knowledge about the head gasket needing reaming out, and the powervalve needing shaving to suit the oversize piston.
  17. Do a search in workshop threads for de-restricting DT's, theres plenty of info in there what you need to do.
  18. Don't forget Andy, if you're re-boring the barrel, you'll also need to ream out the head gasket, skim the powervalve (or the piston will rub against it), head will need doing too for cylnder volume change, but most importantly, allow for the piston expansion, Cornish Motorcycles did a decent job of mine, but didn't quite take enough off the barrel, as it was semi-seizing due to the piston expanding, and aparently, different makes expand differently.
  19. Sounds like a blown head gasket Dylan, if it is replace with a genuine one, or Athena, dont use a pattern one or you'll be in this same position 4 or 5 weeks on.
  20. Aye you could be right, The Rieju SMX I had, had the TTR engine in it. regardless though the Rieju pro marathon is a decent piece of kit.
  21. have a look at Rieju pro marathons, doing well in comps, yamaha ttr race engine in as standard, sherco built frames. should just keep you under the 33hp if tou go nthe 250 model.
  22. Ah right number 18? its classed as a band, A J Sutton have them at £12.80+ postage, but I'd still give Damerells a bell, bit cheaper from there
  23. Here ya go Andy, you need part number 50, 2 off, about £7 each from Damerells, I had to buy 2 for mine, it's just classed as a 'HOLDER,WIRE' in the description, part 49 is classed as a 'GUIDE,CABLE'
  24. It does mastiff, look on the barrel on the left hand side circular cover with 2 cables going into it, that the powervalve cover, yes you can get the DEP exhaust for the DTX its the same as the DTRE one but not the same as the DTR older version, although over in Norway they seem to favour the Gianelli exhaust system for some reason, and the reed switch is a white plastic plug on the rear of the clocks, you unplug it then isolate it. as for carbs yes you can upjet it, but to get more HP that your after, but I suggest going from a standard 28mm Mikuni, to a 32mm Mikuni, same as I've got on mine, that gives a fair bit more power. AAAAAAHHHHHHH just noticed its not the DX as in DTX is it, its the MX if its an 81 bike, my mistake I should have read it properly. I shall chant the idiots mantra 10 times to make amends. " owaar tannaar syam "
  25. A DEP full exhaust system wouldn't go amiss, and maybe a bigger carb,, and the usual reed block de-restriction, sorting those out would give him a bit more umph, I reckon Mastiff, plus a properly set up powervalve too.
