  1. hey guys haven't been on in a long time but my 1977 Yamaha dt 175 has suddenly given no spark. I was riding it to the shop when it stoped on the way, I pushed it in to the shop and put my new to me shocks I got off a Yamaha street bike. I screwed around with the plug and coil trying to get spark but no luck, so I decided to take off the cover where the points are and I undid the nut and pulled that tried to pull that brake drum lookin thing off. no luck so I put the nut back on and tried to spin it and it made this awful grindin noise and it would get really hard to spin. im not familiar with this thing so im wondering if I got it out of time or some crap. any help would be appreciated thanks!
  2. thanks guys, the bike is mint, when my grandpa bought it in 1979 the bike fell over in the back of the truck and dented the tank in on the wheel well of the truck. my grandpa took it down the road a mile then put it in the shop in 1979 with a tarp over it. i guess the moistier on the concrete floor seized her solid. we tried all the unseizeing crap you can buy at our local automotive store but it hasnt done anything. ive heard before that steam will work to break the piston away from whatever is holding it. also, what is this mystery oil? ive heard of it but idk where you can get it or what. ive also heard of heating up some diesel and pouring it down the piston and let the metal expand.
  3. i think its the piston, i dont wanna tear it apart i just wanna get it unseized
  4. hey guys i gotta 1977 yamaha DOHC 500 twin motorcycle and its in mint condition! has about 5000 miles. the tank has a nasty dint and i dont know if you can pop that out or something but the motor is stuck solid. ive tried everything, diesel was just a joke, sea foam didnt do anything, ive even tried CLR but nothing, brake fluid trans fluid did nothing aswell. its a good bike but it was sitting in a shop for 30 years. ive heard steam works because the metal will expand and break away from whatever is making it stick. if you guys have any suggestions please let me know! thanks!

    HELP

yea i took it all apart and cleaned it, then my grandpa decided to touch and he lost the needle seat so i had to buy one witch was 30 bucks. it also could be the settings, im not sure if these things have a high speed jet but i got it going, it runs, but i have no power at high speeds, i can go 1 2 3 4 5 but when you get to 5 it starts to bog then you gotta drop down to 4 then 3 and eventally start over again, it sounds like a fluttering noise.

    HELP

so it still could be the points eh? i bought it and the guy said his wife rode it 2 years ago.... when i took the carb off and looked inside, it was more like 20 years ago. he also said the bike only needed points to run. usually with the other small motors ive worked on, you set the points and never have to touch them again.

    HELP

i meant to say the carb is getting gas! no lack of fuel but when the bike leans over one way to far some gas will leak out the bottom, the bike was running after i set the points, i have a clymer manual for the bike and it says the points could be pitted but i put them in brand new. my grandpa set them. im wondering if the carb is still dirty, would that create the problem im having?
