  1. After looking at the link, my first thought was oooo! yes i`d like one of those. then i read the article?? and i read how they have started to make a single cylinder bike complicated!!!!! fuel injection, catalitic conveter, lambda sensor (whatever that is?) fuel injection does`nt need to be that big?? after all Yamaha put it on smaller bikes than that.. then theres the price!!! Hmmmm! i dont think so as much a i like retro bikes, i`m not paying that much (just call me skinflint ) how long before someone finds a way round the factory fuel injector unit to get a better power output? i hope they become popular and start to come onto the second hand market

    yb 100 HELP

coming from the piston area??? not good.... small end bearings/bush... i`m not sure if they have bush or bearings ? Big end bearings?? something wrong with the rings?? sorry to be so negative... maybe i`m wrong and someone with a lot more knowledge will come along and point to the problem. dont give up..... it`s not the most complicated bike in the world to work on just a thought are you absolutely sure it`s coming from the barrel/top end (piston area)
  3. It`s nice to see members from all corners getting along and not turning on each other..... personally i think it will be a Very sad day when we have to have border controls between the countries that make up the British Isles.
  4. built in obsolescense= build a good bike with one or two fragile parts that will eventually need to be replaced. now make all of the spares but make less of the key/fragile parts= harder to find part= bike of the road= no fun. people will keep the bike going for a few years then give up and get a new one= BINGO second sale of a bike!!!
  5. Did`nt think of it like that??? but hey your right!!!
  6. oh yes! i plan to wait until the weather is better (thinking of May) as i am scared that i might dissolve in the rain!! i am already getting all the gear together, route planning, and looking at camp sites . It will happen, it`s just a case of when??
  7. keep the teardrop tank, it`s much nicer than the nasty square biscuit tin for a tank that was put on the European models.. looking at the photo of your bike it seems to be fairly nice looking, and personally i would keep the style it`s got. having said that that rear rack is really something
  8. Thats the sort of stuff i am interested in... thank you Mr C .. i`m guessing that as even new small bikes (250 and less) are getting fuel injection these days, it wont be long before someone starts to produce replacement/better little black boxes for our bikes...... I hope! with a bit of luck, even replacement bolt on goodies for some of the old carbed engines/bikes.
  9. Eh! never heard of it ??? please tell me more........ why is`nt this more popular???
  10. i was looking at the new YRB250 the other day, and what a sweet little run-around it would be!! looking at the specs, i see it is fuel injected and not normally asperated (no carb). this got me thinking if people can chip thier cars, how long before you will be able to buy upgraded electronics for bikes at the small end of the market? you can buy alsorts of of whizzbangtecnicery for your 2-strokes these days, but sadly strokers are dying out so could the fact that bike makers are going over to electronic fuel delivery systems for most bikes be a blessing in diguise??? how long before you can buy an 18/21 bhp standard bike= YRB250, go on flea-bay to get an after-market chip and take it up to? say 28 bhp, just by changing the chip and jets? or bolting on an after-market injector? just a thought..... what do you lot think????
  11. Hmmm! Mr Shop... more info on improving little 4-strokes please
  12. Kev?? you`ve lost me??? What?? i dont know what you mean!!!
  13. i do wish you had`nt of told us that, as the Sally Army is one of the only charity`s i will give to , there was me thinking that i was doing the right thing!!!
  14. I`ll put me hands up...... i`m an Englishman First, then i`m a Brit and i`m proud of both!!! and i will continue to celibrate St George`s day. if i`m in the pub on St Andrew`s or St David`s day i dont mind raising a glass or two
  15. i know someone must of thought of this before??? but for me it was a light-bulb moment... I`m going to dig out my lights from my push bike and use them as day-running lights for my CG ... that way i will put less pressure on the charging system and the silly little 6V battery. my lights are only cheapy L.E.D`s, but bright enough to let people know i`m there and they last ages on thier batteries. As i`m only doing a mini tour i wont need to carry spare batteries. i was reading somewhere that you can change the bulb in the headlight for a Halogen jobbie??? but lost the the article... ideas anyone????
  16. QUALITY now all you need to do is stay out over night!!! impressive pictures.... my Mrs would never see me if i had roads and the sea like that near me (biking & fishing) you really do have nicer touring roads there than we have in East Anglia. What is that in the background of the first picture??? it looks like a Transformer turning into something else Fingers crossed ... i`ll be picking up my little CG with-in the next two weeks..... not quite a DT i know, but it will do for me i live in Suffolk and the CG is in west london and i have to get it back to Suffolk. i dont fancy riding 120 miles on a bike that i have never ridden before, even if i do trust the seller completly (and i do). thats what is stopping me collecting it tomorrow.
  17. in a similar vien .... even if your not to fussed about going a light-speed, older 125`s seem to make more sense to me. some ( Chinese ) of the 4-strokes are no faster than an old XL, CG, ect and can cost twice/three times the price. i have just struck a deal on a cheap-as-chips CG125, £150 . that i know is mechanicly sound. i KNOW i can get spares for it and the insurance is going to be peanuts why would i look at a new/modern 125?? mind you when a company start making after-market tune up bits for some of these Chinese bikes i might take a look if one comes along cheap enough...but i would rather have a Yam RSX100!!!

    yb 100 HELP

Be more specific about where the "clonking noise" is coming from?? is it from the gearbox? or the barrel/piston area?. does it disappear as and when you rev the engine? or does it get worse?
