  1. I vote FJ1200 as well. The 86 I used to have is still a sharp bike, better looking than most new stuff. And,they were a 10 second bike.
  2. I had an 82 XJ550 once. Good bike for sure it just was not fast enough to suit me.
  3. Get someone to turn the key and hold pressure on it while you smack/punch the living hell out of the front end of the seat. You may need to shine a light under there while someone holds the key over and use something to help push the release latch over. Aftermarket seats seem especially bad about this. You can lube everything up real good once it's off and that should help it work better.
  4. Is it not available from Yamaha anymore?

    Carb Problem

If I may add something here, you might want to check the oil level. If it is over full there may be gas in the oil & it would need to be changed. You can also remove the fill plug and smell of it. You can smell the gas in the oil.
  6. If you know there are no vacuum leaks and the carb is good & clean you need to check the compression. Once under 90-100 lbs the idle can be erratic. If you have the cylinder off you can probably hone it and clean the piston up so you can put the new rings on. It's always a good idea to check the piston to cylinder clearance if you have one apart. If it's to loose the skirt can break off and wedge between the crank and case, knocking a hole in the case. Thats not good.
  7. Only the handlebars are still available.2A6-26111-00-00 and they retail for $81.89. Sorry I could not be of more help.
  8. Stalls? As in dies? Or does it just not want to rev higher?
  9. Is the air filter in good condition? Make sure there is not to much oil in it or that gas is in the oil. If it has sat over a couple of months the carbs might be getting gelled fuel in the jets and the diaphrams may not be raising up in the bores all the way.
  10. Does anyone know of a decent expansion chamber for this bike. I have the stock pipe but wanted it to run a little better.
  11. Check the intake valve clearance. Other stuff to look at...gas cap venting.....worn float needle/seat......worn needle and/or nozzle......gas in the oil.....air box obstruction.......exhaust obstruction.
  12. A long time ago Dirt Bike Magazine put nitrous on a Honda CT70.......
  13. You can torque the head down to around 20 ft/lbs. Just criss cross the pattern and your fine. If I can remember I'll look the actual torque spec up tomorrow at work.
  14. Tell me all you need and I will check and see if they are still available.
  15. I would check the compression first regardless of how it runs. Does it matter if the clutch is engaged or not?
  16. Make sure the airbox is not obstructed. Check that the air filter is in good condition. There is a rubber hose on the carb that is a vent for the bowl. Make sure it's not stopped up on the end as this can starve the engine for fuel. Check the compression with a tester. Make sure the silencer/spark arrestor is not clogged up in the end of the pipe.
