  1. i know it is a little older but i have a 86 tt600 and it oped out just over 100mph easily in the dirt with stock gearing. after that i did a little engine work and it makes huge low end torque pulls the front wheel in 4th if not careful.
  2. ok i leaned out the piolet jet,am going to get a new plug today. i never thought about a vacuum being pulled in the tank. i will pul the cap off and let idle and see what hapens.
  3. hi i have a 86 yamaha tt600 that runs like a bat out of h*** but if you let it idle or come down to an idle it usual stalls after you have been riding about 10-15 minits weather you ride it hard or just let it idle.the main problem is when it does stall you have to wait about 15 minits before you can start it and it starts in 1 or 2 kicks. when i pull the spark plug it is sooty, carburetor is still cold, still has very good compression, and piston is not stuck in the bore. i have been working on this for a couple weeks and every thing that i see is saying it is too rich like sooty plug after stall and black smoke at and just off idle. but every thing i read about jetting a bike carb says the piolet jet is too lean. i will try almost anything except buy new carbs
  4. finally it starts!!!!!!!!!! i found a stator from an 84 klr65o for $25 shipped. then i took it to work opened up the id a little bit then threw it on the mill and drilled the four mounting hols in the right spot bolted it up and the first kick let out a tremendously loud back fire. think a 12 gauge shot gun in a bed room next kick it fired right up. thanks for everybody's help
  5. i was reading through the manual and it says it should have around 200v at idle and i was thinking that since it is making 200v while kicking that maybe the stator isn't producing enough amps to fire the coil at slow speeds. let me know if that sounds possible
  6. like it says i have a 86 tt600 that quit working last summer. i got it home to find out that the complete ignition system failed stator, cdi, and coil. since then i got the stator rewound got a new cdi, coil, and plug.still wont fire here are the things i do know while kicking i get 200v from stator,4v from the trigger coil, the cdi wants to fire the coil but wont,i tested the coil at work and it does work. pleas help me summer is coming and i cant ride yet
